Tupelo Honey Cafe is in Asheville, NC. My daughter and I had the pleasure of eating there a few years ago when we attended the bread festival in Asheville. There are actually two of the restaurants in Asheville now. We had wanted to eat there since we saw it featured on Rachael Ray's $40 a Day show. As soon as I learned they had a cookbook coming out I put it on my wish list at Paperback Swap. When it was offered to me I was thrilled and even more excited when it arrived. I immediately read it f...more

For Review from NetGalley: Requested by me!

What I Loved: This is the 2nd Honey Based Cookbook (though this one is not strictly just honey based recipes) that I have read and I really enjoyed it. There were several recipes that I want to try and will be buying this one to put on my shelf. The cookbook itself is very much like an old southern kitchen cookbook including tons of gravies, sauces, and everything else that makes a good southern kitchen tick!

One of my favs: Warm Pimento Cheese and Chips...more

My husband and I visited Asheville this past summer and ate at the Tupelo Honey Cafe. To say the food there is delicious is an understatement. It's great southern cooking, but with a touch of sophistication and care for the ingredients they use.

I downloaded this book from NetGalley and I will absolutely be purchasing a copy for my cookbook collection when it comes out in April. I especially want to try the pecan vinaigrette and the blueberry granola pancakes.

I will also be attempting to make t...more

A beautiful record of the inspiring recipes from Tupelo Honey Cafe. Easy to follow, a number of these will make their way to our table soon. Each section has something lovely, buttermilk fried chicken, crusted fish, the pies, sherry vinaigrette, and a mushroom ragout... When tomato season comes I will try frying those green ones again, the green tomato pickle has me curious too.

I reviewed this by way of Net Galley. I may be a bit biased, living close to Asheville myself, but this gorgeous cookbook is a testament to neo Southern cuisine at its finest. I ordered a copy for our library and fully intend to order a copy for myself. I can't wait to try the blueberry preserves recipe, the pimento cheese, and the tomato pie. (Come on, summer!)

I've been eyeballing this at the library for a few days now, fearing that if I bring it home with me I'll up and move to Asheville. Maybe a road trip will suffice, or hey, it's a cookbook! I can travel in my kitchen!

Very enjoyable cookbook showcasing the Tupelo Honey Cafe and its menus and also the diverse people in Asheville N.C. I hope to visit Asheville to sample the food and see the sights.

I fell in love with the Tupelo Honey Cafe on a recent trip to Asheville. I had to buy the cookbook to try to recreate some of the magic at home. Mmmm, fried chicken...

A restaurant themed cookbook, for me, needs to accomplish two things: it should make you want to eat there and it should make you feel you can handle tackling some of these recipes in your home kitchen.

This accomplishes that and makes me want even more to take a weekend trip from where I live in Durham to visit Asheville and the Tupelo Honey Cafe.

If you're looking to a good book on "new" Southern cooking, this is a nice place to start.
