i loved this book and the fact that it was part of a series. You just get a better glimpse into the characters and love them even more. Pastor dan was the main character this time trying to avoid getting his heart broken once again, but he can't help to notice the new fire chief when he flys off the roof of a burning building trying to save the kids of one of his members. He called her his dream, but would she be? She is trying to pay for her past mistakes and is a tough women who is slow to ope...more

This book is an amazing one. I learned from this book to let yourself love and be loved in return. Love is not a thing to fear, love is an amazing gift from God. I also learned that everything happens for a reason. This book will lift you up on wings and send your spirits and your heart soaring.

The third book in the series. I liked the main character - a pastor. I liked the strong female character - a fire chief. I liked the lesson learned in this story, you can be a strong person, but make sure you turn your efforts the way God can use them. Don't just keep spinning your wheels.

Returning to the little town of Deep Haven, the reader finds a new (female) interim fire chief named Ellie Karlson matching wits with Pastor Dan Matthews, who's also on the volunteer fire department's roster. They meet at a fire and sparks do fly between them, but Ellie fears losing the respect of the mostly macho fire department who aren't happy about her new position. Arson is suspected in a couple of fires, one of which claims the life of a ne'er-do-well, Leon, that Dan was counseling. Warren...more

I really liked how this book mixed a love story with the teachings of the bible. It was a different way to look how what God's scriptures can actually do to effect someones life.

I've yet to read a book by Susan May Warren that I do not like. This is the third book in her Deep Haven series and I love the setting of the town of Deep Haven. It's small, quaint and everyone knows each other. I haven't read the 2nd book in this series, but I love how characters return and are present (ex. Joe and Mona). I also enjoyed the careers of the main characters: Dan is a pastor and Ellie is a female fire chief. As with all of Warren's books, there is a great message on understanding G...more

Cute book, although the fire cliches got to be a little too much. I thought it was also a shame that, ultimately, Ellie was unable to break through the glass ceiling.
Mary Baker
A positive, sometimes funny, story about a woman acting as interim fire chief in a small town with an arsonist on the loose.

Another fun summer fluff read! I'll have to get the prequels to read about the other characters now!

Yep, this book was awesome. That pretty much sums it up.

I really wanted to give this book 5 stars but it seemed like the first part of the book was hard to get into. If I could I would give 4 stars to the first part of the book and 5 stars to the second part.

I can't help be amazed at the gifts God has delighted me with - a wonderful husband, four amazing children, and the opportunity to write for Him.

I've been writing as long as I can remember - I won my first book writing contest in first grade! Over the years, writing has become, for me, a way to praise God and see Him at work in my life.

Although I have a degree in Mass Communications from the Unive...more
