Loved it! They all tried to air The Ghoul Next Door, they're movie and Cleo helped Bekka and Haley, but the guys at the TV network said they didn't want the faces blured so they canceled it anyway. Then Cleo's friends wanted to do the shoot again, but later they heard it was airing, but didn't know why. They watched and Bekka unblured the faces and exposed them all! Oh my gosh, I'd faint! Cleo had to do the shoot with Melody and Candace and Melody sang great to get the camels to come back to the...more
I decided to read this book because I had finished the first one, Monster High, and had an undying urge to read the next sequal. In a brief summary of the book, Melody has successfully gotten the RADs out of the spotlight of every news channel in Salem, Oregan and kept Brett's over-bearing ex-girlfriend, Bekka from publishing the video of Jackson, but now there's another mission to complete. Frankie and Brett want to show the world that RADs aren't dangerous, which will be hard seeing as how Cle...more

The Ghoul Next Door begins right where Monster High ended. Melody is still clueless as to how to help her schizophrenic boyfriend Jackson, who thanks to his psycho grandfather who had turned himself into Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde complex, ends up turning into someone else when he gets too hot. Bekka continues to send text messages to Melody, letting her know time is running out. In a noble act, Frankie decides the best way to go is to turn herself in. S...more

This book continues the story from the previous book in the Monster High series.Frankie, teenage Frankenstein, lost her head (literally) at the school dance, and so now the entire town of Salem, Oregon is on the lookout for a big green monster, while she's grounded in her house.
Melody, the supposedly normal teenager, is having troubles with her boyfriend Jackson, who turns into a boy named DJ when he gets heated (literally) because he is a descendant of the famous Dr. Jekyll Hyde, from being expos...more

The first installment of Lisi Harrison’s Monster High series ended rather in the manner of a sentence spoken by one of her ditzy characters–yes, with a questioning tone. Things have come to a head between the monsters and the normies of Salem, and the various monsters and preternaturals attending Merston (yes, a very subtle anagram of “monster”) High, thanks to the antics of young Frankie Stein, are at risk of being outed.

I read the first Monster High book last year and loved it so I was happy when I saw this one was finally out. Cleo can't believe that her friends seem to be spending all of their time with Frankie and Melody. Frankie and Melody are the cause of their almost exposure and she can't stand them. Cleo doesn't think the Rads should come out and she will do anything to stop it if she can and to put herself back on top.

More of a 2.5 really.
Since I have quite a lengthy review on the first Monster High, I'll keep this one short-ish. Pretty much all my complaints from the first one are still there and actually growing.
This book did a fantastic job of managing to make me dislike Cleo throughout most of it. I did enjoy getting to see more of Deuce (view spoiler) but he did seem very...flat. I really wanted to...more

I chose this book because I read the first one of the novel and thought the plot was very intersing. In this book, Frankie Stien is a R.A.D. (monster) has been exposed to normies because her head fell off at a dance. Melody Carver is a normie (human) who wants to help the R.A.D.s and make people understand that it's okay to be different. They work together to make R.A.D.s feel more welcome in the town of Salem, Oregon. My favorite quote is "R.A.Ds and the N.U.D.I.s could finallyband together as...more
Like the first book, this was a cute, wholly average YA that I personally loved because it ties into a fandom I care about. I really did enjoy gaining Cleo's perspective, and the plot was suspenseful enough to keep me turning the pages.
In this one, after the disastrous cliffhanger of the first book, the young RADs are under deeper cover than ever. With the threat of exposure looming over them, Frankie and her friends, along with Melody, her sister, Candace, and another normie named Brett, decide...more

In Monster High, we were left with a terrible cliffhanger with Melody trying to protect Jackson, while trying to save Frankie too. In The Ghoul Next Door, they create a plan and put it into action. Frankie and Melody are back and better than ever, as are Cleo, Clawdeen, and Lala and the rest of the RADs. The Ghoul Next Door picks up a day or two after the big dance at Merston High. The community of Merston is reeling with the possibility of monsters roaming their streets and the RADs are forced back underground until the furor diminishes. However, Bekka is more than willing to use the insanity for her own gains, namely to get back at those who stole her boyfriend. Melody and Frankie are no...more
I finished the first book in this series (Monster High), and started right into the next (The Ghoul Next Door). I was glad because the first ended with a cliff hanger. The first book is mainly the story about Frankie Stein a newly created teenage monster. In the first book she is introduced to a community of Monster's hiding amongst the "normies" and going to high school with them. The Ghoul Next Door is primarily about Cleo de Nile, but all the other characters are very much involved as the plo...more

My nine year old daughter was given this book as a birthday present since she is into the Monster High Dolls. I told her I needed to read it first because I wasn't sure if it was appropriate or not. I am glad I did because it is not a book for her age group - more junior high or high school. Honestly, the concept is kind of cool with all the monster children and all the play on words, and folklore(Frankie Stein as Frankenstein's daughter; Lala as Dracula's daughter and Cleo de Nile as Cleopatra's...more
This book was great! I bought it because after reading the first one, I had to go to the store and buy the next one in the series to see what happened to the characters.
The story itself has a couple of unexpected and interesting twists that kept me reading the book until the end. The journey of the RADS and the NORMIES becomes a little bit more hostile. The members of the HUNT will not rest until they have proof of the Monsters' existence. (It does not help that Bekka is an immensely scorned te...more

Hello darlings, this is Cleo de Nile, the most fabulous RAD at school. I am thrilled that Lisi Harrison is featuring me in The Ghoul Next Door, the second book of the Monster High series. My classmates, Frankie Stein and normie Melody Caver got all the glory in the first book. Now it is my turn to shine.

Following up immediately after the first Monster High book. This one starts out with Frankie still in trouble for losing her head, literally. Brett is in the hospital after the incident and all the RAD kids are still under parental watch after the dance fiasco. Frankie wants to make amends, while Cleo just wants to keep her top spot among her friends. The diva has a photo shoot for Teen Vogue and seems to not be getting all the love she expected from her friends, thanks once again to Frankie.

I have not started this book yet, but my bet is on Melody being some sort of siren. Has been since the first pages of book one.
I love these books. So cute. <3
Walking down the hallway
Everybody turns to look at you
It's not because you're different
It's just because you're so scary cool!
A sinister style, mystery with a smile
You're drop dead gorgeous, (drop dead gorgeous)
This school gives me the creeps,
but when I'm with my peeps
You can't ignore us

This story is about as fluffy and unrealistic as they come, but still it's fun. Monsters exist and the hide their true identities around normies (normal people). But really the monsters and the normies are just like any high school students. They form cliques, they care about fashion and boys, and they don't want to stand out as weird. In this book, the monsters want to come out to the world and not hide anymore. Their first goal is to make a documentary where they hide their identities and expl...more
This book was just as good as the first Monster High. In this book, the RADs try another approach to coming out. I think that this was a good sequel and is worth reading a third book. Lisi is very creative with her situations. These books do seem to borrow a little bit from The Clique, but not so much that it's like OMG deja vu! I like that these books put a twist on the whole fitting-in thing.
In this book, the RADs decide to make a movie about themselves (with complete identity-secrecy). Of cou...more

This installment of the series focuses on Cleo de Nile, who is thrilled when she finds out that she and her “besties” will be modeling her Aunt Nefertiti’s jewelry in the upcoming edition of Teen Vogue. But, her friend’s bail on her when they learn that their documentary (their effort to teach the normies that they are not horrible, terrifying creatures) will be airing the same night. In the meantime, Frankie’s human crush, Brett, is trying to help the RADs prove that they are no different than...more
This book is just as good as the first one. It continues the desperate plot to try and get the RAD's out in the open with exciting twists and turns. I was turning pages faster than I knew I could read. From the crazy characters, to the eye oppening secrets that come out in this book. I highly recommend this book and can not wait for the next book in this series.

Absolutly Adorable! Cute, sweet, and dramatic in all the ways a girl could ask for. Cleo is quite a bitch and very self absored. Frankie is a cute but navie ghoul. I still don't think she should get with Brett. I like DJ myself, but Billy is pretty awesome too. Melody is in for a huge surprise! I never would have guessed, but she is totally a siren. How wicked awesome. Her sister, Candance, really had me laughing! I hated how Cleo's friends followed her around like sheep. B...more

Once again, I am surprised that I liked this book as much as I did. I guess I shouldn't be shocked when I read the third one. I was happy that this book didn't name drop as bad as the first one. It was incredibly annoying in the first book. The author also does a great job of threading together the plot threads so that the story doesn't feel disjointed. For example, the cliffhanger in the first book is wrapped up pretty quickly, but that opens up new problems. I'm excited to see where the story...more

Lisi Harrison obviously has a story to tell, one that I'm fairly interested in reading for fun. Unfortunately you won't find much of it in this book. The second installment in the Monster High series is nothing more than a distraction from the main characters/plot. After finishing the book I can tell you that what we learned about Cleo could have been condensed into a page or two and that the author obviously doesn't know a whole lot about Egypt. Based on the title for the next book I fear we're...more
Sometimes, the most cynical person in the group can end up being correct. But, no one believes that at the time.
Frankie is so much in love with a normie named Brett that she believes everything he says. He wants to go to the dance with her? Sure, she will. Seems like she lost her head over him, though. He wants to film things to be a director? She'll offer up all her friends for him to interview. Doesn't matter how much that ends up hurting them, does it?
