2.5 stars out of 5. This book was around 280 pages but it felt much shorter. Not because I flew through the book (which I did) or I was so into it that I did not know the length, but instead because it felt like just the introduction to a book rather than a full book.

Ashlyn Greenfield is recovering. She recently lost her mom in an accident, her sister has disappeared, and even though her dad is still around, he might as well be gone as he is emotionally distant from Ashlyn. In addition to her em
This book was really good. It was very detailed and I fell in love with the characters. I truly felt like I was there and jake is amazing.

I was crying by the end hoping he'd be ok. This book was great and I would have given it a 5 out of 5 stars had the ending been better. This book better have a sequel.

This author, I've found, does this. I read the death by series and loved them. However they ended with the couple not being together.

In trance the ending was so open ended and didn't really en
This book "Trance" by Linda Gerber is about a girl named Ashlyn with a special talent. Ashlyn along with her older sister can see the future in psychotic episodes they call Trances. When her older sister sees her mother's death but Ashlyn ignores it things changed forever. Now as her sister ran away, her mother dead and her father cold and distant, can she get to the bottom of these trances?

I found this book very entertaining. I was looking for a good suspenseful book and this one seemed perfect
I thought that this book would have something to do with the occult, since the front cover says something about the paranormal. It was an example of judging a book by its cover. I would not describe this story as being paranormal at all. This is a very good story that moves along to its conclusion swiftly. The characters and their pain feel genuine.

Ashlyn and her sister have had the same visions all their lives. They don't understand them and are powerless to stop them. They are also powerless

To be honest, I expected a lot more from this book. I was halfway through and I still can't find that "thing" that I was expecting when I first picked this up from a book shelf and decided to read it. I don't know, maybe I just expected too much since one of the reviews stated that this was a "...paranormal thriller". There wasn't much thrill to the book. Although, there were times when I just had to keep turning the page to see what's gonna happen next.

But overall though, it's not that bad. The

Overall this book was pretty good, but it did get really slow at parts. I'd recommend it, though. It had a cool concept, and a different take on visions/trances. The writing was good and the characters were alright. Overall it's an OK read, that was pretty entertaining.

Wow! I liked this book way more than I thought I would! I could not put it down. It was such a quick and easy read.

Ashlyn and her sister have had visions for as long as they could remember. They do not know how to control them or how to stop them. All they know is that something bad is about to happen to someone they know.

Linda Gerber did a wonderful job writing these characters. The side characters had as much life and energy as the main character did. I fell in love with them all! The romance

I honestly don't know the best words to describe this book! I am in complete awe right now. I finished reading this in less than a day. I couldn't put it down. I read while I ate. I read while I got my lunch ready for work the next day. The only break I took was to watch the MTV Movie Awards preview of Harry Potter [nothing is more important than Harry Potter. Sor

My thoughts...As a fan of Linda Gerber's books, I had really high expectations for this story. I knew from reading the book summary that Trance was quite different from her usual stories. Trance did not disappoint. It was a great story, creatively written, with edge-of-your seat action.

There were some great characters in Trance. My favorite was Jake, the resident musician. His character was very friendly and likable. Ashlyn, the heroine, proved to be an interesting character too. She faces many
"Trance" is fiction book about a teenage girl who is having a rough life. Her mom was killed in a car crash while she was driving. Her and her sister Kyra have also been having these 'trances' since they were young. When these trances happen they black out, see an image, and write numbers on a sheet of paper. They can only figure out what they saw if they're together, but Kyra has disappeared. Ashlyn doesn't know what the trances are about or why they happen to her and Kyra. She also met a guy ...more
First, a question: Does anyone know if Trance is supposed to be middle grade or young adult? It feels like it could be either one - a fairly clean middle grade book with an older protagonist or a simpler young adult read. Either way, though, it's a fantastic, fast-paced read!

Gerber creates a mysterious mythology in Ashlyn and Kyra's trances. I loved reading about the different systems of numerology - something I hadn't known about before - and how they tied in to the mystery.

I'll admit first off I found myself partial to this novel from the beginning, mainly because the setting is in my hometown of Columbus, Ohio, so by page one I was hooked. I was pleasantly surprised though when I got into Ashlyn's story to discover she is a really complex character with tons of emotional turmoil, which always makes for a great read. Ashlyn has an overwhelming amount of guilt about her mother's death and a perceived addiction to presciption medications. There's also two boys in th ...more
Trance is a multi-leveled novel that once I picked it up, I really did not want to put it down. Originally, I was drawn to Trance due to the summary sounding very similar to Lisa McMann's Wake series. But once I got deeper into the novel, it was quickly clear that while similarities are there, the two novels are quite different. Trance centers around Ashlyn, a young girl who has seen her share of misery from the visions she foresees. Not much is known about the trances, but one thing is certain, ...more
First off, the cover of this book is so beautiful! You aren't able to get the full effect on the internet, but the cover has a "shiny" effect. As for the book itself, I am a huge fan of Linda Gerber's Death By Series and my expectations for this book were pretty high...

The plot idea isn't something that would usually interest me. I decided to read it because it was Linda Gerber though. I feel like I should have gone with my initial reaction to the book. The book wasn't all that interesting and f

I was certainly expecting more from this book. What drew me to it was Lisa McMann's blurb about it. Many of you know I'm a huge McMann fan, so when I read the summary and Lisa's thoughts I thought I'd love it. But the thing is, I was expecting it to be a little dark and thrilling. Yet I can categorize it more with Sarah Dessen than with Lisa McMann, if you know what I mean.

With that said, the premise is very interesting, the writing was comfortable and what with being a very short read, I ended

This book sounded really suspenful and interesting at first. However after reading it, I have to say it was...not what I was expecting.

First of all, Ashlyn spends most of the book clueless about who she was having the visions about when we know from the synopsis who it is. So that just sucked the fun out of everything. Second, Ashlyn spends most of the time of the book being depressed so it seemed like the whole book was just about that. All that happend was that Ashlyn would get the vision, try
'Trance' is...well, about trances. Ashlynn and her sister experience these weird premonitions that shows who and how someone they know or just met are going to die. After their mom died in a car crash the sister leaves, the dad spends more time at work instead of home and Ash is left blaming herself for the incident. When adjusting back to 'normal life' she befriends Gina and Jake. Together they help Ash accept her trances as helpful visions instead of deathly things that she feels powerless to ...more
Ashlyn Greenfield's mother is dead and she is having trance's again. Ashlyn had been having Trance's ever since she was a little kid and she is deeply ashamed of the Trance's. Ashlyn feels if though she was the cause of her mother's death just because she didn't have one Trance that could have warned her of her mother's death. Now Ashlyn is having the Trance's again and when she starts having them about a friend of hers.....Ashlyn knows that she needs to step up and save a life.

Alrigth this is the updated version of what I said that I would wirte.

Okay, This is a very good book to some people, just not to me, I think this is because I did not like the way the the characters saw the visions... or at least parts of them and that they wrote numbers and problems when they saw them. I must come from the group that thinks that If you see anything you should have some idea of what it means instead of trying to guess.

Also I found it hard to like some of
Trance was another novel I went into not knowing all that much about. Synopsis didn’t give me a great feel for the plot and well it was just intriguing enough to draw my attention. There were some pretty cool things about Trance that I really enjoyed. A lot of fresh, new ideas into the realm of YA fiction that has me pretty excited.

I really enjoyed Ashlyn’s POV. She was such a refreshing character as well. For once it was nice to have an MC that was just able to break down and cry. Someone who

This was such a quick fun read. I flew through it in about half a day. Ashlyn is dealing with the death of her mother. Her sister, who she has always be so close to, took off as soon as it happened. Now Ashlyn is alone in the house with only her father, who stays locked away in his office or at work. She's trying to get back to her regular routine, working, etc., but suddenly the trances are back. Can she prevent the death this time?

I had originally gave this book a 5 rating, but having read it
Ashlyn and her sister Kyra have a gift: they have visions of the future. But when Ashlyn ignores a vision of Kyra's, their family is devastated by loss. Now it looks like it's all happening again, but who will be lost this time? And can the girls prevent the tragedy?

Meh. That's about all I can say. I read the entire book in about an hour, and when I was done, nothing intelligent popped into my head. Just meh. The premise is interesting, but the execution is rather humdrum. Not much happens in th

Trance is one book that captivated me. Ashyln's character not only seemed real but one that you can relate with right away. Ashlyn's life has been tough. After a bad car accident, her family is torn apart. Left with dealing with her powers on her own, she must overcome the guilt and fear she has in order to save someone she loves.

Ashlyn has been though so much after the accident. She tries to be strong and move on, but the guilt of the night that happen plays into her mind over and over again. S
Trance By Linda Gerber is 277 pages. The genre is mystery. Ashlyn Greenfield has a secret to keep for a reason. She want's it to stay that way to. Then on the night that changes her life forever she holds a burden. Her Mother dies in a car crash while she was driving. I wasn't originally planning on reviewing this book just because I don't have a whole lot to say about it, but I thought I could just do a quick one basically summarizing my thoughts on it.

The story was reasonably fast-paced and didn't take me too long to read. It begun after the car accident, with the protagonist, Ashlyn trying to get her life back together. The whole story was pretty basic. It didn't pull me in or have me on the edge of my seat but I simply wanted to know what would happen. Th
I was quite surprised at how much I liked this book! I actually almost read the entire thing in one sitting! It was completely engrossing and very easy to read.
I really felt the author drew the characters quite well. Even though Ashlyn is the main character and it mostly focuses on her she did an awesome job with the side characters as well. I was able to understand and relate to the character and situations they were each in. I understood how Ashlyn didn't want to share her issue (the visions

"The backdrop of the stadium flips and the bleachers disappear. The track morphs into a rain-slicked road. In the air around me, a random jumble of numbers drift and swirl like tendrils of fog. Twin headlights cut through the darkness, racing towards me. I try to scream, but I can't make a sound."
The book "Trance" by Linda Gerber is filled with intense moments like this. A teenage girl Ashlynn has spent her whole life trying to figure out the meanings of intense trances she is randomly sucked
