The first book is by Fern Michaels. The hero arrives in town to spend it with his sister in law due to his brother being in Iraq. His sister in law immediately has a meltdown and leaves him with 2 infant babies over the Christmas holidays. Too much like a bad Geico commercial to me, so this story is a DNF.

The second story is by JoAnn Ross. I really liked this one and wish I had read it before Christmas. Its about a woman who has stopped believing in Christmas who finds herself stranded in a tow...more

Not great. I don't like Fern Michaels, so I just skimmed her story, so I'll admit I can't really give it a fair assessment.

Joann Ross's story was well written, but I totally lost interest when the hero, 10 minutes after meeting the heroine, is wishing he had a condom in his pocket so they could pull the car over to the side of the road and go at it. Are you kidding me?

Mary Burton's was good for the suspense aspect of the story, but the romance was rather rushed. I don't like the "friends with be...more

Silver Bells is part of my Christmas Reading Challenge. I got it last year for Christmas, but of course, had to wait until this holiday season to read it. You can’t read about Christmas when it’s not Christmas.

What I didn’t realize about this book was that it is actually 4 romances. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it because I get really into characters and always want to learn more about their lives, but they were all written well enough that you weren’t left with questions.

First, there is Silver Bel...more

We all know how much I love a good Christmas romance anthology - and to be truthful, the naughtier the better - bless you, Lori Foster!!! But, I can do some slightly tamer romances, as well. Woman does not live by smut alone! So, I took a dive into Silver Bells as one of my holiday reads this December.

First up was Silver Bells by Fern Michaels. Silver Bells is the tale of a beautiful Hollywood star who has come back to her hometown, only to run into, inevitably, old high school boyfriend Hank An...more

Silver Bells by Fern Michaels
A cute story about coming home. She's a big movie star who is tired of the Hollywood life and wants to go back to Pennsylvania to her childhood home. She hasn't been back since her parents died when she was a teenager. The boy next door and her first love also comes home for a visit and the flame they had for each other never went out.
A very sappy story...it left that "gooey" feeling in my chest when I finished. A sweet romance...

I guess a little romance never hurt anyone. Mostly light-weight stories (4) with the obvious fell good endings. Nice little holiday reads when things can get hectic and out of control. I may have liked "Christmas Past" to have been a longer, more edge-of-your-seat full-length novel, if the author could have accomplished it. The problem I have with short stories is that the characters are alomost one dimensional and the story just skips what vculd be interesting reading. Overall I enjoyed this bo...more

Ok, you know this is a series of 4 short stories...the stories were all okay -- except that they ended too abruptly! I guess that's the point of short stories, I know, but I felt like I was short changed in the purchase of the book! And the last story...I just didn't enjoy it at all. It's okay, I guess -- a good Christmastime read.

I truly enjoyed all 4 stories in this paperback. Each one pulled me in very quickly and kept me attentive throughout. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is, each story left me wanting more. I felt there was so much more left to say, to learn about the characters. Overall a really good read. I would definitely recommend this book.

I was looking for some awe-inspiring Christmas stories to get me in the spirit when I picked this book up at the local drug store, but I was disappointed. Of the four short stories just two I thought were OK. And all four stories were pretty much romance stories with a Christmas undertone.
Joyce
Of the four stories I like the third and fourth the best. These four short stories could be read any time of the year. Of course, love is not the air in each of the stories and as in life dor some of the characters it is easy to find and for others the journey is long and difficult.

I have mixed feelings about this collection of short stories about Christmas. Three of the stories are lovely romantic stories with a Christmas theme. But the story by Mary Burton is very dark and not what I was expecting in this collection.
Melody
I was given this book by a friend. It has four stories each around 100 pages. I read the first one 'Silver Bells' and couldn't bring myself to keep going. It started out off a little interesting, but then turned ultra cheesy. It read like a B movie...a bad B movie.

Another book that has more than one story in them. All stories were good. The last story was my favorite and it was really heartwarming story. The first story is second favorite I loved the ending. The common themes in these stories were kids, military or cop main characters. I would recommend this book.

A cute compilation of holiday tales. I enjoyed them all except for one that had a story line about a psycho husband who sends a hit man after his wife. Cause nothing says Merry Christmas like a psychotic husband and a hit man?! Sorry- didn't really get that one.
Gloria
Well I needed a new category for library books I checked out but after looking through the book didn't read and don't want to read. Set in present day and language issues, didn't read.
Ali
My only complaint with short stories/novellas is how quick the main characters fall in love. But I suppose there is no other choice huh!
Michelle
I read the Fern Michaels story and couldn't really get into it, didn't feel like continuing with the rest of the book.
Jon Rybka-Wachhaus
I enjoyed the books very much. They were holiday short stories and they were wonderful. ONE in particular was a little overly steamy for my tastes but other then that they were a fun holiday read.
JaNell
This had a few short stories that were fun and light for the holiday season, no real depth. But enjoyable.
Cynthia
Four Christmas stories in once book. I enjoy the first two very much.
Janice
The first short story was fun but the other three did nothing for me.

Silver Bells: Cute. (4 stars)

Dear Santa: Also cute. (4 stars)

A compilation of four mini stories. Each story was good and well written, but a little short. After each section finished, I found myself wishing for more of the story and therefore a bit difficult to get into the flow of the new story. That being said, once I got into the new story, I completely enjoyed them. Great holiday love stories.
Dani Moore
This actually is a 4 story book by various writers. Nice escape.
Lisa
A nice collection of holiday short stories.
Carrie
This was a very nice collection of stories!
