Holy cow! I just worked with Ellen at a Poetry Conference. I was really looking forward to meeting her because she published one of my poems in The Massachusetts Review and nominated me for Best New Poets--she showed me such great generosity throughout the publication process, even seeking out some back story on the poem she took.

It's so nice to be able to meet an editor through their own work. I LOVED this book. I read it on the plane home from the conference. I usually hate reading poetry on

This book is the perfect choice for anyone who usually reads only "accessible" familiar poetry, but who is willing to start grappling with more challenging, unfamiliar language. The poems in this collection are short (several poems are less than half a page), and they employ near-standard vocabulary and syntax in order to deliver a poignant human situation.
