By now, a few years later, this is a little outdated but it's great because all the equipment they talk about is much cheaper and low end compared to what people(hobbyist/low budget filmmakers) are buying now. I use this to justify buying older, cheaper stuff. This book's sorta a history book of how it was like when DSLRs just came out for shooting film like video. For new stuff I'd stick to the forums as it changes every few months.

Brilliant primer for anyone interested in DSLR filmmaking. Wish I had read this first before jumping in. A lot of valuable lessons and case studies.
