Whoogles, these are people "who" "Google" odd things, such as "Can a do make a woman pregnant?" and other weird and odd searches that have been compiled. The authors entered into the Google search engine the start of what they are wanting to search and end up with odd answers that may fit the beginning of the search that is being entered. Some of the answers that come up are odd and completely out of this world, while others should be common sense or knowledge, while others are just plain dumb....more

Somewhere between a third and a half of these are pretty funny (personal favorite: "I would like to tape my thumbs to my hands to see what it would be like to be a dinosaur"), but considering the heavy dose of scorn the authors heap on regular people for having the temerity to ask Google something they don't know, the authors display breathtaking amounts of ignorance of their own. They don't know that the sentence "I am rubbish at maths" is perfectly well formed British English. They don't know...more

This might be one of the laziest books I've read. I did laugh, on occasion, but overall, it was the "jokes" of two people who have no understanding of different aspects of culture. One entry makes a joke about a statement including the phrase "rubbish at maths," saying that the searcher is also "garbage at Englishes," despite "maths" being the preferred term in parts of the English-speaking world. Another entry was a direct quote from The Simpsons (in which Ralph refers to growing up to be a pri...more

This book was from the Quick Pick list and now I know why...what a fun and entertaining book! Almerico and Hottenroth have found the humor in the crazy things that will pop up on Google searches and have written hysterical commentaries about what ran through their minds when they first saw the suggestion.

I am not a lover of non-fiction and was hard pressed to choose a book but this has changed my attitude. I believe this book holds broad appeal from age upper elementary (the content can at times...more

SO people are stupid... I don't think that's ever been a secret. I myself often take great delight in the mental disadvantage and misadventures of others. But there is a point where things stop being funny and are just plain crass and unpalatable, (at least in my opinion). And this book slides right into that not so sweet spot. Here at my local Lib we have it shelved in a place to entice reluctant readers, and it may well do that... but part of me wishes we were filling their heads with a better...more

Whoogles is a quick, one hour read at max about odd things that the Google algorithm thinks you're going to look up when you start typing something in the popular search engine. Along with great comments from the author, Whoogles is a good hour waster if you have nothing else to do. This probably world work well as one of those books you put beside your toilet.

Quality literature it isn't, but it is definitely entertaining. I feel like this will be a big hit with the teens who just want to pick something short and witty. Additional plus- it makes you feel really, really smart that you weren't the one to Google that. Sometimes, though, I want to explain why it's a legit question, and then I feel ashamed...

I can't believe some of these questions have been actually asked on Google. The author did Google searches and came up with some crazy stuff. It was fun flipping through the book to see what would be next on the list of "seriously someone asked that" queries.

laughed so hard I cried from the ridiculousness of at least 1 or 2 of these....will think about some of these every time I google from now on....
Kayla
It wasn't hilarious, but parts of it were funny. It mostly showed screenshots of the Google search suggestions, so it was easy and quick to read.
Laura
Tried too hard. The only funny part of this book (the bizarre Google search suggestions) weren't even written by the authors.

Ryver Maren
Hilarious!! I can hardly imagine who would want to google some of those questions but the answers are hilariously snarky. Loved it.
Mike Talley Jr
Remarkably, this little book is very funny. I still can't believe some of the Google searches some people will look up. Oh, the humor! :)
Amanda
There were some funny ones, but they were overshadowed by the ones where the authors' snark just revealed their own ignorance.
Jenny Boyce
The author didn't appear to do much research into what the "whoogle" was actually getting at. If the author had bothered to actually search some of these things she would have realized that the question "is jailbreaking illegal" does not actually refer to the process of breaking a person out of jail. Or that the phrase "I am going to grape you" is from a youtube video. Or that replying "Why am I garbage at Englishes" in response to "why am I rubbish at maths" is really not all that funny.

That be...more

A cute, quick read. Perfect for sticking next to a toilet (not that I did, just saying). Gave me quite a few giggles.
Robert
There are only so many 3rd grade bodily fluid jokes and intentional misreadings one can take before things get tired.
Barb
An entertaining collection of Whoogles -- a word created by the authors to ask "Who would Google THAT??"
Mary
Not as fun as I thought it was going to be. Neat idea, but snarky tone was not attractive.
Blossomsk
The first few pages got a laugh out of me but it turned old real fast.
Kristen Thorp
Some were really funny, but a lot of missed opportunities.
Hannah
Meh. Average and not particularly funny.
Vita Something
funniest. book. ever

almost....
Michelle Greer
This is proof that people are stupid.
Laela
Quick, easy, and silly read.
Rochelle
One of those perfect coffee table books - at least in the library. It gets picked up all the time and while some of the pages embarrass some of the teenagers, they certainly get plenty of laughs and start lots of conversations. I think it's actually checked out right now. My only criticism is that there are certain queries that were obviously prompted by a search for lyrics or a quotation that the authors must not have been aware of, so there is a legitimate reason for someone to "google that."

Angela
Quick amusing read.
Elsa
VERY funny!
Joanne
Nothing like a laugh out loud read for a change!
Heather
Who would ask that?
