This last part of the story simply blew me away. It was just wow, wow, wow. I found myself totally engrossed in the story. Usually, I'm not somebody that cries easily, but this brought tears to my eyes on several occasions. I loved the relevation at the end. In fact, I loved pretty much everything about it. I'd have loved to see some more world building, though. But maybe the lack of that made it easier to concentrate on the characters and the storyline...
The writing style is absolutely beautifu
I will note this line:

"Father. You were wrong about something. One can be a slave and still be a man. We bear what’s done to us, the theft of choice, the loss of opportunity, and we make our lives work in spite of it. We are not less. We are greater. And I hope you’re somewhere you can see us. I believe you’d be proud."

.. at the same time I'm wondering.. why not suicide? why not robe those that want to control and posses of the thing itself.. sure, those enduring are greater, stronger, maybe wis
