This book is a quiet read. Even the drama has a hot, sleepy, summer feel to it. Have a lazy long weekend to just curl up, this is a small and in someways sad, read.

I teach this book to my students for lots of reasons. It lets us talk about metaphors and similes. The language is not complicated but it is artistic. I use it when working with predicting texts. And I have to say, I actually like the book so far....one of the reasons I think it's enjoyable is because of the characters. My class is currently reading Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt. My favorite part in the book is when Jesse asks Winnie if she wants to wait 6 years and then get married and go on adventures. My class is currently reading Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt. My favorite part in the book is when Jesse asks Winnie if she wants to wait 6 years and then get married and go on adventures. I like this part in the book because you would never expect that it would happen. It was an interesting and surprising part of this book. I can relate to Winnie because I always wanted to be my own independent person. I always wanted to walk to school by myself and pack my own lunch, I just wanted to be responsible like Winnie. The book Tuck Everlasting is a great book because it can be mysterious when the man in the yellow suit follows Winnie and the Tucks. It can also be very interesting because the Tucks are immortal, which is very unrealistic but it makes the story interesting. It's like what it would be if it the world was immortal. It really makes you think about it if you get down deep into the story. Some characters like being immortal, some don't. Personally I think it would be pretty cool if I was immortal because you would get to see what the world is like in the future. You would also never have to worry about getting hurt because you live forever and your always the same age. You would get to experience so many different time frames and changes. It would be awesome if I got to live forever just like the Tucks get to do in the book Tuck Everlasting.

The theme of Tuck Everlasting is "Never trust people even if they look nice at first." The reason why I believe this is the theme is because Winnie thought the man in the yellow suit was friendly and nice, but he’s also acting very suspicious like he knows something about Winnie’s family. Well the man in the yellow suit definitely wasn't nice because he followed Winnie when she got kidnapped and took the Tucks horse to go to Winnie's house and try to make a trade with Winnie's family. Then he goes back to the Tuck's and tells them he’s selling the woods and tried to take Winnie. Now he’s trying to force Winnie to drink the spring water! The theme “Never trust people even if they look nice at first,” definitely follows this book. Luckily Mae hit the man in the yellow suit in the head with the gun, else things would have gone really bad. At least Winnie can trust the Tuck’s. This theme also applies in real life because if you trust strangers they could do something bad to you. Like the man in the yellow suit tried to do to Winnie.

The difference between Winnie and I, is that I appreciate what I have, and I wouldn't trade anything for it. Jesse Tuck is a young (sort of) man who is sort of confused, but as well sort of appreciates his immortality because he has all the time to travel the world. Miles Tuck is the older brother of Jesse and doesn't really like his curse because he can never really get married and have kids. Mae Tuck is the mother of Jesse and Miles. Mae has learned to accept that she will never die, doesn't like it, but understands. Tuck is the spouse of Mae and father of Jesse and Miles. Tuck desparately wants to die and does not want to ruin the cycle of life.

I think this book has multiple themes. I think one is never judge a book by it's cover, there might be a lot of great things inside. I believe that because the Tucks had kidnapped her in the beginning, but that that was early in the book when Winnie had not known anything about the mysterious Tucks.I can relate to that theme because although I was quite young, I still was kind of hesitant about Austin when I moved here. I had moved half way across the world, I was use to only seeing tiny little houses, but then all of a sudden I'm seeing dozens of huge tall buildings(in my opinion). They took her in and cared for her, truly establishing trust and friendship for the young girl. I think the second theme is friendship and love. The Tucks, who try to avoid others about as much as possible, told Winnie a nutty as a fruit cake story without barely even knowing her. They took her to their house and fed and cared about her like she was their own. I think about everyone in this school can relate to that. We all have at least someone who would do anything for us(and I mean ANYTHING) just for our happiness. I think that the final theme is make wise decisions, put yourself in others shoes. The Tucks are a great example, they could just go and tell everyone in the world their crazy with a capitol C story, but that would be insanely ignorant, for catastrophic events would occur for sure. I understand sort of what their going through having to keep a secret because I have kept some secrets just to protect my friends and family.(less)

Mae, in my opinion is pretty important to this story- so far. She is very kind- hearted, and cares about others. Mae can tell that Winnie is missing home, and is a little confused about this whole situation. Mae takes care of that right away! From living forever, she really has realized what everybody needs! A lot of time for her to analyze what people need. Who would know that she would be so good with children? She does have two of her own, Jesse and Miles. So that might help with caring for kids. Overall, I think Mae is the character who makes this story tense and action packed. She came in on the horse when everything was about to go wrong, which started all the good parts. She also saved Winnie from a decision she would regret for the rest of her life. Some of you might not agree, but Mae is the one who puts this story into action!

Now- what's the theme for Tuck Everlasting? A lot of things, right? What keeps popping into my head, is exactly these words. "What others think of you shouldn't matter. What matters, is what you think of your self." If you really think into the story, that is a thought that pops up a lot!
Mae is a nice person, but every friend she has ever had has thought she was so different, and that looking the same forever was crazy. From that, she has never had a loving friend. Just to say it- but what all her friends might be thinking about her is jealousy. They probably want to look young forever! I just had to put that thought out there!
This theme comes up with Miles too. His wife left him because he thought he had some type of "Witch Magic." What made Miles even more unhappy was that she brought his kids with him! If I were Miles I would be thinking this about somebody who took MY family away from me"you never let anyone else have a word in this situation. What if they thought it was cool living forever!" Just so you know, in Jesse's situation, "everyone else" would be his kids.
Angus Tuck too! This happened in his life, but he has a different point of view. He doesn't like living forever. He wants to age and die like everyone else. He sits around watching friends live a normal life while he lives a "living forever" life. I guess that example is pretty much the opposite of my theme, but if I tell you that it's the opposite than, maybe that will help you understand the real theme.
Jesse Tuck doesn't know what his feelings really are. In the situation where he told Winnie, that when she turns sixteen, to drink the spring water, then her and Jesse can get married. So Jesse is a great person to follow my theme! He doesn't care what everyone thinks of him, he just cares about himself. Not in the selfish way, but in a good way! He always looks to the positive!
Most of the other characters don't go along very well with my theme, but they sure go along with the story! Let me include this information real quick! Don't forget this book is by Natalie Babbitt. Thanks for letting me squeeze that in! My theme doesn't ONLY go along with the story, but it goes along with life. You should take my theme into consideration, al least I hope you will!

This book for some reason reminds me so much of a book I read last year called 11 birthdays. I loved the story but I hated the ending. This was the first book I was ever mad at. To this day, I still scowl at people that say that immortality is a curse. I think that the theme for Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt is everything is not as good as it seems. At first, when Winnie heard about the water, she wanted to go back and drink it. After Winnie was told that living forever wasn't as good as it seems she started to rethink weather or not drinking the water is a good idea. At first though, if the Tucks didn't let her, she would have probably had some and be sad forever. That's why I think the theme is everything is not as good as it seems.

The theme of Tuck Everlasting is everthing may not be as good as it seems. I think this because when Winnie gets kidnapped and then Mae told her that they are immortal and she can tell no one in the world, that made her feel special and happy and feels delighted to come and eat. When they ate she felt happy that there are no rules to follow when eating but she remembered she had been kidnapped by these people then she missed her family and felt miserable and upset. Another way is when she first heard about this magical spring water she kind of wanted some, when Angus told her about how bad it is and how it ruins your life she kind of hated being immortal.(less)

I have been enjoying this book because it is very interesting how they are immortal and the way they expresses their feelings about it. They often leave me hanging so I have to infer what is going to happen next. The reason I like it is because it gets my brain thinking and it gets me really sucked into the book. My favorite part of this story is when a girl named Winnie gets kidnapped by these very strange but nice people. They tell her all these things like that they are immortal and if you drink from the spring you will be immortal too. This guy named Jessie who is immortal enjoys being immortal but on the other hand his dad Angus Tuck doesn’t like being immortal so Winnie has a tough decision and doesn’t no if she should drink from the spring or if she shouldn’t. The reason they did this all is to tell her not to tell her to not tell anybody because it is a secret and it would be weird if everybody in the world would lived forever and everybody would be very tightly packed.

I can relate to this book because Winnie has to pick if she wants to be immortal or if she doesn’t want to be immortal and she has one person saying that he like to be immortal and that is Jessie, and one that doesn’t like being immortal and that is Angus Tuck Jessie’s dad. So she has a tough decision and doesn’t know what to do. Just like right now I am making a decision between band, choir, or orchestra for my elective when I go to HCMS. Some of my friends want to do band and some want to do choir and some want to do orchestra and so I am in a tough decision of which one I should do but I want to make sure that it is the right one for me.

The theme of this story is “don’t trust someone until you know the complete truth.”

The reason I picked the theme is because Winnie didn’t know what the man in the yellow suit was talking about and why he was being suspicious which is understandable since she was only 10 years old. After all, the man in the yellow suit knew everything and told Winnie’s mother and grandmother that he knew where Winnie was and that he was not going to tell anybody unless they gave him their land so he could sell the spring water and get money from it without anybody’s permission. What he really did was take someone’s property and say that it is his and you can’t do anything to prevent me.I really recommend this book to you because it is very interesting. The author is a great writer and gives a lot of detail in her writing.

Whenever I rode a horse I felt free, invincible, and no one able to hinder me from doing anything. After a while of taking horse riding lessons, I was getting good, but that summer I was so hot, I quit. I did not want to quit, but I was burning up really bad. I give this book five out of five stars because it is Leisurely Paced, and because it is Upbeat. When Mae Tuck kidnapped her and brought her to her house, Mae and Angus Tuck explained to her why they kidnapped her and how they are immortal. Winnie is stunned to hear that they are immortal because before they kidnapped her everyone says that being immortal is impossible. Angus and Mae give Winnie a lot of time for it too sink in to her that they are immortal. I think that they let it sink in to Winnie for a long time that they are immortal because she is stunned. This book also has a good story so far, because the author puts in all the details and really brainstormed brilliant ideas. Over all so far, I like this book because it has a good setting, interesting characters!

The 5th grade and I are currently reading Natalie Babbit's Tuck Everlasting. I can relate to this book when Mae Tuck kidnapps Winnie on a horse and brings Winnie to her house. My mom likes horses and she used to take me to horse riding lessons. Whenever I rode a horse I felt like I was free, invincible, and no one able to hinder me from doing anything. After a while of horse riding lessons, I was getting good, but that summer it was too hot so I quit. I did not want to quit, but I was burning in the summer heat. I would give this book five out of five stars because it is Leisurely Paced, and World Building. When Winnie arrives at the Tuck's house and Mae and Angus Tuck explain why they kidnapped her and how they are immorrtal she is stunned. Angus and Mae Tuck took a long time to explain. I think Mae and Angus Tuck took a long time explaining to Winnie to let it sink in to Winnie that they are immortal. This book has a lot of similes and metaphores. One of these metaphores is "a soft red blur of sliding yolk in the east." I think it means the sun is blurry and it is dusk because the sun looks red and is blurry at that time of the day. There are lots of other metaphores and similes, but I like this metaphore the best. My favorite character is Winnie Foster because she is willing to believe in the Tucks story about being immortal. When she sleeps in the Tuck's house she is confused about believing her family which said being immortal is impossible, or believing the Tucks which said they were immortal. If I was in Winnie's position I would think the Tucks were crazy and I would run away. Overall, I think this book is awesome. (less)

In our fifth grade class we are reading the book Tuck Everlasting. In the book she is scared to stay at the Tucks house and she feels homesick. That happened to me when I went to Atlanta with my uncle and I stayed there for 10 days. I did not feel like I was supposed to be there because even though i wanted to try an adventure it was still very hard to not feel sad because I missed the people at my house. I am currently reading Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt. I am going to talk about the man in the yellow suit.I think he is very weird and creepy because he fallows Winnie and the Tuck's to their house in the woods so he could drink from the magical spring and he even stole the Tuck's horse probably so they wouldn't escape in time. i am currently reading Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbit with the rest of the fifth grade. So far I really like the book. I like how the author ties everything together in just the right way and makes everything seem like the pieces of a puzzle that fit together perfectly. For example, in the book, Angus Tuck and Mae Tuck are talking when she is about to go meet Jesse and Miles Tuck and at the end of the chapter when Mae is fixing her hair, the author says that Mae does not need to look in the mirror , for she, Angus Tuck, Jesse Tuck, and Miles Tuck have looked exactly the same for eighty-six years. also, at first when the man in the yellow suit appears it's sort of like, ''Why did this random character just show up?'', but then when the man in the yellow suit is watching the Tucks talk to Winnie and they talk about how their horse drank the immortality spring and then the horse goes missing, you can make an assumption that the man in the yellow suit stole the horse to see if what the Tucks were saying about the immortality spring was true and if you think about how the man in the yellow suit was acting and his friendliness and eagerness, the fact that the man in the yellow suit could have taken the horse seems very likely and all of those facts fit together. So far I am really enjoying Tuck Everlasting and I cannot wait to read more of it.

I think the theme of Tuck Everlasting is to appreciate what you have. I think it is the theme because Winnie is not immortal (yet) so eventually she will die, but the Tucks will never die because they drank the immortality spring and when Angus is talking to Winnie about the wheel of life on the boat he is telling Winnie how she should not drink the immortality spring because, throughout the years the Tucks are just stuck sitting and watching the wheel of life happen but as the author said it was like they were just sitting there like rocks on the side of the road just watching all the cars go by and move forward while they are just stuck watching the cars and not moving at all. But, Winnie might want to be immortal because on the boat with Angus Tuck she said that she did not want to die. So in a way, it was like Angus Tuck wanted to not be immortal, but Winnie did want to be immortal because she never wanted to die. But, really when you think about it there is plus sides to both because, being immortal gives you a lot of time to try new things, but, when you are not immortal, like Angus said, you are part of the wheel of life and you aren't stuck watching the wheel of life.
