This was, after the last book in the series, a disappointment for me. I'm being generous with three stars. There's nothing particularly wrong with it or frustrating about it. It was just, well, I'll say it: boring. It's a book I've read hundreds of time before and it's been done better than this by other authors. The first in this series felt fresh and different and this fell flat in comparison. It also proclaims itself to be about rough sex, and it's not really. There's nothing wrong with vanil ...more

It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Del Dryden the person. But I hadn't read any of her books to date. I fixed that on the weekend when I picked up Art of the Lie. Del has an easy style that gets you right into the heads of her characters. I was laughing out loud in so many places, I think the person beside me on the plane thought I was mad.
I tore through this book and I'll be going back to get book one in the series!

Kylie's Review

Art of the Lie is the second book in the Truth and Lies series by Delphine Dryden. I didn't know that when I picked the book to review, but now that I do the first book and the rest of the series are definitely going on my TBR (to be read) list. I have been mostly reading paranormal books lately so a straight up contemporary novel was a welcome change, but beyond that the story was just good. There is a quality to Ms. Dryden's writing that is familiar, I mean that in the best way

This sexy novella is a friends to lovers story, two artistic neighbours who've counted on each other for late night discussions and movie nights on the couch. But Lindy's decided that Richard is the man she wants to take her virginity (that pesky detail that affects her dating life, usually in a negative way). She trusts him, and knows he'll make it good for her. She just doesn't realize how good being with him is going to be...

I enjoyed this one! We met Lindy in the first book in the series (Ho

I liked this one, but not as much as much as I enjoyed book 1, How to Tell a Lie but I'm a sucker or a friends to lovers story. For a relatively short story, the characters were well-developed and the story was realistic....even the 26 year old virgin made sense somehow. I just didn't grow to really like the H/h all that much. The heroine seemed like she still needed to grow up more. The ending felt rushed, so I was glad for the HFN, rather than a true HEA ending.

I bought this one from Kobo.

Really good. I enjoyed book one, which was an All Romance Ebooks freebie. Book two was better - totally believable and sweet story that is essentially a friends to lovers story but with a few good bumps along the way. Definitely going to seek out the next book in this series.

Book one is free, which is a lovely thing, but I enjoyed this one more even though I paid for it. :)

After earning two graduate degrees, practicing law awhile, and then working for the public school system for over ten years, I finally got a clue. I tossed all that aside and started doing what I should have been doing all along, writing novels! In hindsight I could see the decision was a no-brainer.

I’m fortunate to have two wonderful, absurdly precocious children and two delightful if occasionall
