Princess for president Student body president, that is -- nominated by her power-mad best friend, Lilly. This is not how Mia imagined kicking off her sophomore year, but as usual, she has bigger problems to worry about, like Geometry. And now that Mia's one true love, Michael, is uptown at college, what's the point of even getting up for school in the morning? But the last...more

WHY do I keep reading these "Princess" books? WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY??? Am I forgetting that

* These books are total fluff books with practically NO substance WHATSOEVER?

* They are intended for teenagers?

* I am no longer a teenager?

* I don't think I will let my daughter read them when she is a teenager?

* My curiosity was fully satisfied by the third book?

Well, maybe I'll let her read the first few. But probably not book four or five, and definitely not six. Yes, I get that it's supposed to be Mia's...more

Mia is back from her summer in Genovia, where she caused quite a stir with her environmental actions. Now that she's back home, she's starting sophomore year and must face a new challenge - Geometry. School is different without her boyfriend Michael, who is in college across town. Also, Mia's best friend Lily nominated her for student council president (against her will), and now Lily and Grandmere are working together on Mia's campaign strategy. These problems all seem minor, though, when Lana...more

REQUIRED AUTHOR, ROMANCE
I couldn't handle this book. I've read silly books as a preteen so I thought I would do ok with this one, but it nearly drove me crazy. There was absolutely no plot, just the diary of a very selfish preteen girl with no real thought. All that happened was she nearly destroyed the ecosystem of her own country and seemed to think that it wasn't that big of deal, and she was afraid her college boyfriend would want to "do it." That was the entire novel. I have nothing good to...more

This one was good. I finished it today, and Mia becomes student council president, and her and her boyfriend.... well, just see for yourself. I'd rather not say... hahaha... I think it's the sixth book.......I think.... Then, there's a 6 1/2, 7, 7 1/2 i think and many many more.... So, yeah. These books are really hard to explain, because it really is her diary, so it's just her telling you what's happening in her life, she's aspiring to become a writer, that's why she keeps a journal. Also, the...more

I think I am starting to grow out of these books, which is somewhat amusing since I'm a decade older than the target audience for this series. Mia's shallowness has been a slight issue with me since the first book but really struck me in this latest story, though I'm not sure why. The lack of character development of any of the characters is starting to annoy me. I truly detested the "lesson" of not letting teachers stifle "creativity" though--in my opinion, the teacher had every right to mark M...more

It is sophomore year and what is a princess to do? Between running for Student Class President (thanks to Lilly and her nomination), struggling to pass Geometry which is just as bad as Algebra was, and missing Michael who is now in college all the way across town, life is crazy as ever for NY on royal. But then Lana has too go make it worse by informing Mia that now that Michael is in college he is going to want more than a goodnight kiss...ALOT more!

After reading the first book in this series I...more

It was an OK story. The book was amusing as the character in the story named Mia Thermopolis is the next in line to take over the throne of a country called Genovia. Her best friend Lilly wants to be the class president but has no shot at winning. Lilly nominates Mia to run for class president explaining that several days after Mia wins the election she will step down and being her vice president Lilly will be the next one nominated for the position. Mia thinks this is a horrible idea as she wi...more

Review:

MEG CABOT and ROMANCE CATEGORIES
Meg Cabot once again enthralls us with the frantic and over-exaggerated prep school drama of the famous Princess, Mia Thermopolis. The sixth book in the Princess Diaries series, I was surprised that she was still in high school by this point. With only a one week time line, this book falls under the “Romance” or “Chick Lit” category because every other page revolves ar...more

Until the last few pages of the book, I was going to give this one star for the simple reason that I just did not like it. At all.

Some of my complaints (this is by no means a complete list):

*I need the adults in Mia's life to step up and start acting like the adults. When Mia came to her mother and was asking questions about sex, her mother probably should have pushed more and given Mia more information. It was CLEAR TO ME that Mia was not handling things well. I just really think Mia's mother s...more

Ok. I don't know why I'm a glutton for punishment. Or maybe it's the fact that the book is supposedly a popular young adult book series. Or the fact that both movies based on the book really were great!! I guess it's just like some sort of train wreck that I'm just glued to see what happens. So I picked up this book and decided okay I've read the other 5.5 books. I...must...see...what...happens... So I read the book and again the author over using the word "oh my god" is annoying as if this is t...more

Mia is now in Sophomore year but Michael has moved away to college, he hasn't gone far but it's enough to make it hard to see each other. Lilly nominates Mia for school president, Mia doesn't understand geometry and she may have caused an economic crisis in Genovia. Not only that but the question of moving her relationship with Michael to the next level comes up, and she's not sure she is ready for more.
That is basically all the book is about, Mia's fight to be school president even though she d...more

Jul 26, 2009 Julie rated it 4 of 5 stars  ·  review of another edition Recommends it for: Meg Cabot fans, anyone wanting to be reminded of their high school years.

I really do enjoy these books.

This one in particular made me realize something. In earlier books, I got a bit fed up with Mia for being so dense about certain things... but somehow, during this volume, suddenly I recalled with perfect clarity (and the advantage of hindsight) how COMPLETELY NAIVE AND CLUELESS I was at that age. I got worked up over all kinds of minor issues, completely read ridiculous things into the smallest comment or behavior, and generally was a giant idiot. Oh yes, that was...more

Apa dia harus melakuk...more

This book deals with TRUE problems of a real TEEN girl. It's got bitchy girls, bossy friends, BOYS, worry about public speaking, oh and SEX.
ok, Let's stick with this one. A mean girl tells you college guys expect you to Do It with them. What are you going to do? Say, Oh who cares I'm not worried about Michael wanting that OR Shit! I'm not ready for that yet. I bet he'll dump me now.

I'm not sure about YOU but I know if my boyfriend wanted to Do It when I am only 15 years old, I would be pretty f...more

This isn't my favorite Princess Diaries book, that would be #4 Princess in Waiting on sheer funniness, but I thought it was good. Mia deals with deeper things than just the prom, but with about the same degree of self-obsessed idiocy. However, I distinctly remember being a complete idiot at the age of 15 as well as being impossibly naive. I like that Meg Cabot doesn't choose to give her heroine an adult conscience. Teenagers already take themselves far too seriously, it's nice when an author wri...more

Alright. What I have to say is mostly influenced by the book, not about the book itself.
Michael, Mia's (15) 18-year-old boyfriend wants to have sex. Fine. What bothers me is how he is pressuring her to have it. And somehow, the undertone in this book, implies that that is okay. 15 is a very impressionable age. I think it's wrong, although my personal philosophy is that nothing is wrong and nothing is right, for anyone to try to pressure someone to do something they don't want to do. And here Mi...more

I really hate Lilly sometimes. I don't understand how Mia can continue to be friends.

I spent a good part of this book kind of wanting to slap Mia, too. In so many ways I can relate to her and in so many others I just want to shake her. That girl has issues communicating, good god. Just SAY THIS SHIT sometimes, oh my god.

I liked this book because it actually addresses some real issues, about relationships and high school social standings. And Mia's speech was incredibly epic. Good for her.

This book wasn't as bad as the last one, but is nowhere near as good as the first three. Mia and Lilly aren't as bad as they were in Princess in Pink, but - and this is the hardest thing to write, ever: MICHAEL WAS A DOUCHE IN THIS BOOK!!!!! :( :( :( :( (view spoiler)[If he was as awesome as we were led to believe, he would wait FOREVER for Mia to be ready to have sex, and not demand to know WHEN they could Do It. And he was just generally kind of a dick in this book, being all rude and whatever...more

Princess Mia's had a lot on her plate lately...just like always!

This was a well-written sixth instalment to The Princess Diaries, where Mia's life is still as chaotic as ever, but without being so chaotic it's no longer something girls can relate to.

This was the instalment where I really connected with Mia. I suppose it was her birthday that clicked me on in the previous instalment- mine was happening a couple of days after I read it- but as I was reading Sixsational, I picked up on some stuff...more

Mia's speech at the end of the book was great! That speech makes it almost worthwhile to slog through the rest of the book. It's interesting to see Lilly and Grandmere cooperating, and as usual Mia gets swept along in their scheming. The main story of this book is overpowered by the subplot of Michael and Mia's relationship. It's as if the whole plot line was a set up for the scene when Mia visits the nurse for some other reason and happens to ask a question about boys and sex. The nurse's respo...more

I stopped reading these books years ago because I found them frivolous. Now that I am a grown-up, though, that is sometimes EXACTLY what I need. They are just so well done. And believe it or not, this one ALSO has a proletariat uprising!

My one criticism is of the minor plotline where Mia decides her English teacher is an unfair tyrant for giving her a B on a paper, saying she lacked discipline as a writer (which is by all accounts TRUE). So why did her teacher give in at last? Was it due to roya...more

I will probably keep reading the series, since I like a break of fluff sometimes, and it only takes me a day or two to get through one of these books. However, they are getting tiresome, especially the formula of some crisis with her boyfriend that she absolutely cannot talk to him about, even though it is all in her head and would be solved instantly if she talked to him. I'm also struggling now that she has a baby brother, as some parenting ideas that I support are mocked, like homebirth and n...more

Another 4-star Princess Diaries book, always 4 or 5 stars.

I totally love all these books! But Mia's soooo annoying in this one, totally! It's like Shut up about it you're fifteen lol!!!

Although Lilly annoys you too, but hey, she's Lilly.

ANDDDDDD>.. Michael seemed Pushy & Annoying to me, I didn't like him, Kenny was cool till like you know Mia dumped him.

Finally, Ms. Martinez was SO right! Mia's pop culture refrences were ridiculous and unacceptable in a 10th Grade English Class!

Mia is back in this latest Princess Diaries book. In this installment of our favorite self-actualizing princess, Mia is starting her sophomore year of High School. Unfortunately she's starting it without her boyfriend Michael who is now in College. He's a college guy and according to archenemy Lana he's going to expect her to "do it". Not only that Lilly has nominated her to run for Student Council President against Lana. Not to mention the snail incident and the fact that her mom and step-dad a...more

Librarian note: AKA Jenny Carroll (1-800-Where-R-You series), AKA Patricia Cabot (historical romance novels).

Meg Cabot was born on February 1, 1967, during the Chinese astrological year of the Fire Horse, a notoriously unlucky sign. Fortunately she grew up in Bloomington, Indiana, where few people were aware of the stigma of being a fire horse -- at least until Meg became a teenager, when she flun...more
