With Nick Bruel’s trademark mix of antic humor (this time involving a Kitty game show and the Kitty Olympics—which the baby wins hands down), riotous illustrations, total...more

Bad Kitty has met her match!

But is she another kitty?

She sure does seem to act like one.

All this new kitty does is eat, sleep, cry, and poop.

But that's not a kitty!

That's a baby!!!

All the other neighborhood kitties seem to think the new face around the house is a kitty.

She even won all the events at the Kitty Olympics.

But it's not a kitty!! It's a baby!!!

Bad Kitty is confused.

Bad Kitty doesn't really like the baby.

Until Bad Kitty finds out that she's adopted just like her.

Then Bad Kitty wants to...more

My sister came up to me this afternoon and requested that I read it to her. So, we sat down together and we read it.
As a side note, my little sister is approximately eight years old.
Oh, Poor Kitty!

I've read all of the other Bad Kitty series books to my little sister because she enjoys them. This was the first 'chapter' book relating to the series that she's brought home for me to read to her.

The story line was cute and the illustrations really enhanced the story being told. My favorite parts wer...more

Okay. It's not exactly high-quality literature for kids, but it's one of the funniest books I've read in a loooong time. Kitty's people go off on a trip leaving Kitty and Puppy with an Uncle. The pets antics while their people are gone is not only hysterical but it leads to a great use of one's own imagination. When Kitty's people return, they bring with them a present that Kitty can't figure out. When Kitty's friends come over, the cat antics are fabulous! The tone of voice clearly comes throug...more

Poor Bad Kitty. He's finaly getting used to that goofy, drooling dog and now they bring home...another DOG!!! Well, no, it's actually a baby, but to Bad Kitty, it's a loud, stinky thing, so it must be another dog. We loved the original Bad Kitty. Liked Poor Puppy maybe a little less so. And my son was actually disappointed with the chapter format of Bad Kitty Gets a Bath- he liked his Bad Kitty in small doses. Last night, however, we took turns trading off the voices in this one, and he loved it...more

This is another funny graphic novel in the Bad Kitty series by Nick Bruel. While I think our hands-down favorite book in this series has been Bad Kitty Gets a Bath, this is also a very humorous book with hilarious illustrations. It's a very entertaining story, and although graphic novels are often difficult to read aloud, we all took parts in the story and read it aloud together. The amount of times our girls laughed out loud while we read the story just goes to show that poop jokes never go out...more
Mother and Daughter Book Reviews
This review consists of two parts: 1. What my daughter thinks and 2. What I, her Mom, thinks.

DAUGHTER SAYS:

The book starts with Uncle Murray coming to babysit Kitty. Kitty guts stuck in a tree and Uncle Murray calls the fire department. Then Kitty, the dog, Uncle Murray, and a refrigerator all get stuck in a tree. The next day, there is a surprise for Kitty. Kitty doesn’t know what it is at first so she makes up a talk show. Kitty then thinks it’s another dog so she doesn’t like it. Kitty’s cat...more

Whoah! I did not really expect to like this book at all but I really did! This is the book that Emma chose as her reward from the library for reading her first 10 hours this summer. I was disappointed that she chose such an easy book. I wasn't that keen on reading it with her last week, when Timo was away on his canoe trip, but I did and actually enjoyed it.

Nick Bruel has created a funny world of kitties who have their own quirks and personalities. In this story, Bad Kitty's family has adopted a...more

My daughter loves this series and we own every one. I'm not a huge fan of comic books, but for a 4 year old, this is a great way to introduce the genre. She loves the pictures on every page and the dialogue is easy for her to practice her budding reading skills. I highly recommend it for new readers. I also love that it gives good facts about cats and their behavior through out. What I dislike about the series is that the plots are repetitive (which is good for kids, I guess), and that the Kitty...more

Bad Kitty had a hard enough time when the Dog moved into the house. Now there's a new surprise. What is it? It smells, acts and looks a lot like Dog. It must be another dog! Oh, no! Calm down, it's actually a baby!

When the other kitties are invited over to meet the new "dog" they decide she is actually another cat. In honor of the new "cat" they hold the pussycat olympics! The olympic games include staring, eating, stinking and chattering. The new "cat" wins them all!

Eventually Bad Kitty begins...more

Everyone's favorite Bad Kitty is back! This book picks up where the last one left off, with Kitty and Puppy being left with Uncle Murray while their people are gone for a week. When their people return, Kitty and Puppy are in for a surprise. Now they get to share their home with a baby! Kitty's friends come over to inspect the newcomer, and upon deciding that because the newcomer displays some cat-like characteristics, she must also be a kitty. The Kitty Olympics are held. Hilarity ensues.

In this latest book, Bad Kitty meets up with the biggest challenge yet.... a new baby! Bad Kitty is convinced that the baby is actually a dog, but his kitty friends determine that the baby is a cat and allow the baby to compete in the Kitty Olympics. Enjoy the fun ending to this story as well as a few gems from Uncle Murray.

One thing I really loved about the book is that the new baby is actually adopted. There is a definite lack of chapter books out there involving adoptions, so I was glad to se...more

Bad Kitty gets a bad surprise when a new creature enters the house. At first he thinks it's a new dog because it drools and smells, but the neighborhood cats decide it's a new cat because it talks, eats and well, smells. Then the neighborhood cats welcome the new comer with a cat Olympics. As always, Uncle Murray is around to offer funny asides, including his experience pet-sitting Bad Kitty and puppy while the adults are getting this new surprise. A very funny book with great complementary pict...more

Bad Kitty seems to have met his match, when a new addition joins his household. Having just gotten used to having the dog around, Bad Kitty is unsure what to make of this new member of the household, is it another cat? It certainly has many cat tendencies, and can best most cats at their special talents.

Bad Kitty is one of those stories I suspect can only be truly appreciated by adults, but children find it wildly entertaining as well. It's sly humor and crazy antics are a bit at odds with the...more

Bad Kitty at the beginning was just a baby, and she had a good life and was alone for a long time. Bad Kitty is a very funny book, and Bad Kitty thought Puppy was an evil beast. Then Uncle Murray stays with Bad Kitty and Puppy while her owners went on vacation. He kept having to call Fire Department and Plant Nursery when Bad Kitty and Puppy were fighting. I liked the end when the baby came and she needed a bath and bad kitty freaked out over the bath time. I think other kids will like this seri...more

Bad Kitty ‘s owners are back from their trip and they have brought back the one thing that all cats hate: a baby. And so begins a very bad time for Bad Kitty as her life is turned upside down by the baby. But it is possible they have more in common than Kity realizes.

This is another good entry in the Bad Kitty series, full of the humourus illustrations readers have come to expect. The link between Kitty and the baby at the end is a little tenuous, but it doesn‘t hamper the hilarity of the book.

Aidan and I just read this very quick, very funny chapter book. Aidan loved it and it was amusing enough to keep me entertained also. Kudos to the author for including actual cat facts into the book. Minor complaint: the liberal use of the word "heck". Not exactly the swear word of the century but not one I really don't like to hear come out of my six year old's mouth. Did provide a "teachable moment" though! Best for grades 1 - 4 and great for reluctant readers as there are pictures on every pa...more

My very visual child LOVES the silliness of the Bad Kitty series, with the comic book style intermingled with more dense paragraphs on other pages. Even the wordier parts grab her, too, and we now know much more about kitten behavior than I'd ever learned before. I loved that Baby in this story joins the family through adoption. That made our adoptive family smile. I know some in adoptive circles won't appreciate the comparison that Baby was adopted just like Dog and Kitty are, but we're semi-ok...more

Bad Kitty Meets the Baby by Nick Bruel is the sixth Bad Kitty book (and the fourth hybrid graphic novel). The book opens with a recap of the previous "injustices" to Kitty's otherwise good life: the puppy and Uncle Murray's visit. Now the reason for Murray's visit is explained: Bad Kitty's humans were traveling to adopt a baby.

The adoption isn't played up in the book but it does blend well with the overall theme of home and family being what you make of it. Before, Bad Kitty, though, can make th...more

Parts of Bad Kitty Meets the Baby has you laughing, chuckling, and giggling. I'm really not a fan of Uncle Murray and his extended comments. Some of the comments at the bottom of the page are in light type and extremely small which will make it hard for some of my students to read. I feel that they will skip these and as a result miss part of the story. All in all, students who are a fan of ths series will love it.

This was a super cute book - my 5 yr old daughter loved it! The illustrations were all super adorable and the story itself was adorable too. It was funny! Plus it had some cat facts inside that tied into the story, so not only was it a funny story, it was also informative. I definitely recommend this book to those who have younger kids (like Kindergarten/1st grade age) and will hopefully be picking up some more of these soon!

This was not as good as the other Bad Kitty books. It started out good, with the parents leaving and Uncle Murray coming, but from then on it was downhill. I mean, WHY would Bad Kitty and the dog put a refrigerator up the tree? The whole cat Olympics was silly. The story got better in chapter 5, when Bad Kitty tries to get rid of the baby, and the last chapter was kinda cute, especially when Bad Kitty tries to keep them from giving the baby a bath. It seemed like the author tried to cram all the...more

I really liked the first Bad Kitty book- "Bad Kitty Takes a Bath" and even the second and maybe the third but they are slowly going down hill and loosing something. They are becoming less and less funny. Maybe the author is running out of ideas. This was funny, yes. But no where near as funny as the first - the bath book. :(
Kristine Pratt
It's a Bad Kitty book? What's not to like?

Seriously, while it's got a funny plotline (that really gets way too silly way too fast) there is a lot of good information about cats in it. So that makes this a win all the way around.

I wonder if the cat training guide at the end works?

This is a funny book. There's a Pussy cat Olympics . The cats have different personalities. The mouse is funny and stupid. When the mouse said "Tell Pretty Kitty that I love her," that part was hilarious. This book is funnier than Bad kitty verses Uncle Murray.
Leslie
Uncle Murray now ranks up there as one of the funniest characters ever. My 7 year old loves this series, and I sometimes have to stop reading to catch my breath because we are laughing so hard. I'd still like to know the story behind the refrigerator . . .
Shala Howell
The Five-Year-Old loved it. She'd give it a million stars if I'd let her. But I'd like to display some discernment in our rankings, and while we both enjoyed this book, I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane.

IT WAS AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bad Kitty has a new housemate - a crawling baby. Baby gets the nickname of New Kitty and gives the other kitties a run for their money in the Pussycat Olympics. Some fun parts but I think I still like Bad Kitty Takes A Bath better.
Heather
The story was plenty funny, but the illustrations of the various cats were probably the best bit. I did love that Uncle Murray is brought back into the story and that the cats are all convinced the baby is a cat. Very silly.
