At the beginning of this book I wasn't sure it was going to be my kind of thing. The more I kept reading it the more interesting it got. Haden is special and her parents have told her she has a rare disease where she has to drink animal blood to survive. She has a place hidden in her closet where she keeps her supplies. Nobody knows about this rare disease she has so its kept a secret from everyone.

When I decided to purchase Ice Moon, I did so because I thought the concept presented by the author was a unique twist on vampires and werewolves. What I didn’t expect and was pleasantly surprised by was Kristy Quinn’s incorporation of Christian values into the lives of the characters in the book.
I instantly fell in love with Haden and Taylor, not to mention their quarky friends and loving family. Through Kristy’s writing, I was able to experience Haden’s journey as if I was in the book itself....more

This book was highly recommended on a fantasy website I came across, so I had our local library order it. Well.... it wasn't the best book I've read. It was only mediocre. Even though it ended in the middle of the story, I really don't feel compelled to read the rest of the series. The biggest feeling I got from the book was that I really wanted to take a pencil to it and edit like crazy! She would use the wrong word for the context of the story (ie-hole vs. whole), or it was mis-spelled, or the...more
When I won this book on one of the Indie Author Bash Days by Book Reader Addicts I I did not expect much (since I have not heard about this book before). How big and pleasant my surprise was to quickly learn that the author (Kristy Quinn) managed to bring God and Christian values into the book about vampires and werewolves! The way the characters have taken on life, family, love, passion, and "the curse of being monsters", without sacrificing their beliefs is awesome!

I would have given this book full marks but for the unrelenting Christian aspect of the damn thing. I seriously burst out laughing and smirked my way into oblivion at the comparisons to Jesus's trials and the whole prayers to Jesus. It left me annoyed each time I read "Just pray to God" "God made me this way..he has a purpose for you" ummm wow...we're talking about a theme that I do believe was debated by Christians and Catholics and treated as sinful since the whole genre of Vampires became pop...more
This story was such a great read!!! I am so happy to have found this one. I do want to give a warning that the story even though super awesome has strong religious undertones. In no way does that take away from the greatness of it, I just wanted to give a warning to those who are opposed to that. I am Eagerly anticipating the next one.
