First off, let me start by saying this book was a hundred times better than 1984, in my opinion. It had a much more interesting plot line, and I didn't find it painful to pick up and actually read by my own volition. The olden days kind of language was new, and sometimes complicated and somewhat confusing, but after the first few chapters I just kind of got used to it, and it became a lot easier and smoother to understand (without having to stop and backtrack every paragraph or so).

I’m not going to lie, I saw the movie before I read the book. I know that this is a major don’t, but I can’t do anything about it now. Anyways, I though both were fantastic. The best part about seeing the movie before reading the book was that I wasn’t let down by it, I liked it even more. Usually movies leave plenty of details out, which Pride and Prejudice didn’t escape from, and you’re let down due to reading the book first. Being such a fan of Jane Austen's other works and being so interested in Jane Austen's life and the Regency period, I cannot believe I waited as long as I did to read Persuasion. I love this book. I attempted to read it in college but put it down -- perhaps it takes being at least Anne Elliot's age and spending a bit more time on earth to appreciate this work, the underlying theme of which is disappointment. Mansfield Park:This was actually the first Jane Austen book I had ever read and felt disappointed by the end. I was fine that the heroin, Fanny Price, didn't have a strong personality throughout the book. I mainly disliked the build up of all the characters only to have it end abruptly. It was like I was being told a story only to have the story teller get bored at the end and close the book while summing up the end in a tired way.

I'm one of those perennial fans of Jane Austen. Read most of the novels -- P&P many times -- and watched a good portion of the TV series and/or movies. My favs being the PBS series with Colin Firth, Emma with Gwenyth Paltrow, and Clueless with Alicia Silverstone. In other words, I just never get tired of Austen's style. BTW, just saw "Jane Austen's Book Club" -- it doesn't rank as anything special, but it's a good chikflik.

What the heck is wrong with this site, they don't have Persuasion?! I only read Persuasion, but didn't feel like entering all the info by myself- so here it looks like I read all three. Persuasion was a great, quick read. Poor Elizabeth, glad for Anne, and relieved Wentworth didn't screw everything up by being a dud.

Anyone who is a sucker for a good love story
This has to be one of the greatest love stories ever put into print! I fell in love with it from its famous first sentence and couldn’t put it down. It’s wild and witty and I don’t think anyone knows how to write better book about love without getting into the naughtier bits of romance than Jane Austen!

I read this novel for a writing class. Although I usually prefer modern literature and often bestsellers, reading a classic like this makes one realize what literature is all about. Even today and with a totally different social structure, this novel continues to capture the interest of any reader.

When I read Little Women I thought I might die of boredom, and feared the same from this book, but I ended up really liking it. It's actually interesting and moves fairly quickly. It's got relateable characters and a relateable story line. It's a good read that won't send you snoozing.

I own an earlier binding of this collection. What do I have to say about Austen? She's just fabulous. The pinnacle is Pride and Prejudice and (sigh) Mr. Darcy. I have also read and enjoyed the other two novels - particularly Persuasion.

Hmm, for some reason when I tried to find Pride and Prejudice on its own Sense and Sensibility showed up and then a huge list of other crap. So, I picke this omnibus but haven't read the others in it.

I love Persuasion! Though you hear a lot of acclaim for "Pride and Prejudice", I think Persuasion is a close contender. A little slow to start but definitely a good read.

Sorry, just couldn't handle this book. It took me far longer to get through this book than most. I could never get into it and was a typical love story.

I've read this book countless times! I love Jane Austen. Though some think these books are silly, much can be learned from Austen's wit and insight!

Pride & Prejudice and Persuasion are my two favorite Jane Austen novels! Although, I cannot help but love everything written by this author!

I read Persuasion, not Mansfield Park. Loved it! I liked Anne Elliot almost as much as Elizabeth Bennet's character.
