"Thief of Hearts" by Tess Gerritsen
(from back cover)

He was a gentleman bandit, she was a cat burglar. And they caught each other in more ways than one. But their desire was as strong as their distrust, and Jordan Tavistock began to fear that Diana Lamb was more than just a thief of hearts.........

MY THOUGHTS: This is the second book by Tess Gerritsen that I have read. I liked this one just as much as the first one. You may ask how one book can be a Conspiracy Thriller and a Romance Thriller at t...more

Maybe a 3.75. Aristocratic gentleman Jordan Tavistock runs into beautiful Clea (Diana is an alias) as she is burgling a house. Unfortunately, he can't do anything about it, since he was also in the middle of burgling the house. (For a lady's indiscreet letters -- could a gentleman say no to that?) Although Clea lies every time she opens her mouth, Jordan is nonetheless drawn to her, especially when he realizes she's in terrible danger.

Some reviewers seem to have found the reprinted version of th...more

The Thief of Hearts is Tess Gerritsen’s 10th stand-alone novel. Jordan Tavistock, doing a favour for a friend, encounters a very attractive female thief whilst himself trying to steal some letters from a local wealthy playboy’s bedroom. Soon, Jordan chances upon Clea Rice again, and after a narrow escape from an exploding car, their destinies seem to become irrevocably entwined. While Clea thinks Jordan would be safer leaving her to fend for herself, Jordan isn’t about to let that happen. Lots o...more

Hmmm what can i say about this book... That i regret spending any money to buy this book even though it's on sale and that I hope Gerritsen's Rizzoli and Isles series are nothing like this. Because if it is, i might as well donate them all.

The reason i bought this book was because i heard good things about the rizzoli and isles series, so when i saw this book in the 3 for 2 bargain bins at Borders, I bought three of Gerritsen's earlier books. but this is nothing like the mystery-thriller type of...more

It's not the worst book I've ever read but it's definitely no where near the best! I found the character of Clea fairly annoying and the romance with Jordan really didn't move me at all. Nothing really special I'm starting to wonder what all the fuss about Tess Gerritsen is actually about. This book is like a bad Mills and Boon and most Mills and Boon books are bad!

I've heard Rizzoli and Isles is better but I'm yet to discover if that's true. This has kind of put me off.

Extremely predictable plot, a female protagonist that made me want to bash my head into a wall and a completely unbelievable romance. I'm trying to think back to when I read the first book and if it was this bad, since I remember liking it. But then again I was fifteen, so maybe these books are more suited for teenagers.
In favor of this book, it isn't too long and it's easy to read. If I had brain damage, I might have enjoyed it more.

Written in 1995 and standing the test of time in 2011 when I read it. I loved the intrigue and the plot twists and most importantly, the main characters, Clea and Jordan.

Somewhere around the middle of the book Jordan muses that Clea attracts trouble like iron filings to a magnet. So true! Trouble follows her everywhere, sometimes of her own making, and the only trouble she's actually ponders is losing Jordan. So sweet.

This is the first I've read from tess gerritsen. The story was somewhat predictable, but nevertheless interesting. There were some twist and turns here and there which made the storyline even more enjoyable. Other than that, the book was quite straightforward with a tint of romance between the two main characters which i thought was a bit cliche. Nonetheless, a well deserved 4 out of 5.

Very poor - plot was predictable and convenient, and there was only one point that could be classed as a twist. The only positive was that you can get by reading every other paragraph, so could get to the end quicker. Last Tess Gerritsen I will read.

Tess Gerritsen meets Jeffrey Archer. This book is very enjoyable, and completely different from anything else I have read from Tess Gerritsen. A bit predictable, and a little flimsy, but a great light read to pass a Sunday afternoon.

This author has definitely come a LONG way in the 13 years I have been reading her! Her current books are so much different than this one. The story was good, but the writing syle was fairly juvenile in comparison.

Started out promising enough. The heroine's low self-esteem and getting out of the im-not -worthy quagmire was a slog to get through. Some parts got too predictable, so 3 stars overall. Maybe 3.5 for the lovely British accent

Wow...

Tess Gerritsen's Rizzoli Isles series is one of my favorites. Unfortunately this isn't of the same standard. Nice escapist read on holiday but pretty predictable.

A good read. You would not probably think it was a Tess Gerritsen novel though. Enjoyed reading it but not one of the best books I have read.

I enjoyed the story, i didn't drift off in to boredom as with some, there was an equal amount of romance in it to keep me interested.

Wasnt what i originally expected from Tess Gerritsen but after 50 pages or so i did get really into it and i enjoyed it.

A nice plot set on a thief, wanting to expose a millionaire who is into illegal insurance stuff.
Richard Mulholland
Not the usual Tess Gerritsen at all, but I really enjoyed it nonetheless.
Claire
Another excellent Gerritsen book & quite different from the other books I have read by her. I was certainly suprised by the twist near the end.

Good for a quick read but didn't think it was that great. Maybe I am too cynical over the cheesy romance!!

Internationally bestselling author Tess Gerritsen took an unusual route to a writing career. A graduate of Stanford University, Tess went on to medical school at the University of California, San Francisco, where she was awarded her M.D.

While on maternity leave from her work as a physician, she began to write fiction. In 1987, her first novel was published. Call After Midnight, a romantic thriller...more
