This book by Bob Rotella is one of the best golf books I have ever read. I had the chance to meet Rotella in person and listen to what he thinks, and it was really great. After I saw him give his speech here where I live, I decided to read the book. I was skeptical at first, and didn't think it would help my golfing game that much, but it really made a difference. My handicap has gotten way better since I have read this book. I am almost down to a scratch golfer. The book has so many great tips...more
So much of playing is mental exercise that a sports psychologist can help improve your game almost as much as a swing instructor. You don't need reflexes to hit the ball like in tennis. You don't need quick fast-firing muscles like you need to hit a baseball. You can stand and prepare to swing a golf club until you're ready to swing. There are no defenders to block your shot.
So if you can hit a great golf shot once, why can't you do it every time? Answer: your brain gets in the way. Expectations...more

So far this book has caught me in the reading because of the great content it has. My appreciation as a reader of this book is that give you a lot of tips and it tells you how to improve your attitude in your respective sport. My advice to other people who want to read this book is that the book is not only about golf such as the title show it, it has many interesting tips and stories from other sports. I really recommend those persons who makes a specific sport.

A golf buddy loaned me this book by sports psychologist Bob Rotella. I discovered that I'd read it before but had forgotten it's good common sense message. Golf (like life) isn't about being perfect, it's about enjoyment which is a virtuous circle that leads to being looser, freer, and more confident. It was a good reminder to put my mistakes in golf behind me and have more fun playing the game.
Focuses on the mental game of golf and how it affects the physical/mechanical side of the game. Offers great advice, routines, and swing thoughts for at least thinking consistently during a game, rather than reacting to a well-played or poor shot and dwelling on one or the other. Well-written and filled with useful anecdotes about current and former players.
Nothing special. This author is made such a big deal of by the golf media that when I was in my golf phase circa 2009 I picked this and Hogan's Five Lessons up to help me over the hump. Didn't work. Rotella must be doing something right though because some many top players subscribe to his services. Sold this book in a garage sale for 75₵.
Even if you don't like golf there is still a bunch to get out of this book....free will...you become what you think...etc. I enjoyed reading about the mental side of the game as much as getting some practical tips on golfing. Probably a little on the boring side though if you have no interest in sports.

i think the book, is organized very interesting! how they tell you how each character feels, in every position. Golf is mainly mental, most players believe hitting far and accurate help them win everything. i believe its mostly about being confident and focusing on every shot, one by one.
I shaved four strokes off my game by the time I got to page 44. I have never delved into the mental aspect of the game but it was much needed. My swing hasn't changed since I read this, but my mind has, and I am very thankful for the advice offered in this book, as well as the real life examples of some famous players.

Great advise. Quite psyching myself out. It is like Nike says, "Just do it." (Because you already know what to do. Perfection is not a human condition.)

Not only a great resource for improving your golf game. This book describes how to effectively create and execute on a vision, the power of unleashing our reticular activating system (sub-conscious) and how we get in, or out, of our own way. These are fundamental issues for business owners. I have this book in audio format and find myself listening to sections over again. Highly recommend it.
