My maternal grandfather never finished the eighth grade. But like many of his generation, what he lacked in book smarts he made up in practical skills. He was a jack-of-all-trades. His garage looked like a hardware store. When the Lord called him home, he had more than enough tools to spread around to his three grandsons. In fact, in the twenty-five years since he died, I have had to buy very few tools. Unfortunately I don’t know what to do with most of the tools in my toolbox. Handyman I More...

From context to genre, to grammatical structure as well as chronological context, Did Deeper gives us many good tools for understanding God's Word.
We are taught how to understand simple grammatical issues such as linking words as well as the usage of multiple Bible translations.
Not only that, but the authors remind us of the importance of context of a verse as well as the greater context of a verse in its relation to the book in which the verse is found.

Excellent. Simple and clear explanations of 16 "tools" for bible study. For example, "The Context Tool", "The Parallels Tool", "The Genre Tool", and "The Copycat Tool". Each tool is accompanied by examples to look up and ends with an exercise to practice using that particular tool. This would be excellent to go through with a group to learn basic hermeneutical principles in a user-friendly way.

I thought this was an excellent tool for better biblical understanding. Written in easy to understand language, the book explains some advanced interpretation tools. I enjoyed the refresher and shared it with several people to help them in their study.

I just skimmed this book to get further insights for a Bible Study Methods class I'm leading. The chapters were short but very insightful, and the exercises appeared to be valuable.
This would be a great book for someone who is wants to learn how to study the Bible and who is starting this process.

This is an excellent little primer for bible interpretation. Written to be concise and easily accessable for anyone. I highly recommend it.

This is a short, accessible text that equips us to study and understand the Bible on our own.

AWESOME book on Bible study, providing six to seven ways of looking at Bible passages (e.g. analogical/literal/poetic refrain etc etc etc), preventing bad leadership in bible studies as so often is the case in relatively younger/smaller churches. Highly recommend for youth group/adult bible group studies, as a fundamental cornerstone to understanding the message behind the depth and context of the biblical books - LOVE IT!!! :)
