While I read a lot of Chick Lit that I like, rarely does a book make me want to grab the heroine, take her out for a few drinks, and help her learn from my mistakes. Reading Meredith Schorr’s Just Friends With Benefits made me want to do just that. Thirteen years after college, Stephanie Cohen’s crush on Craig Hille resurfaces, and Stephanie vows Craig will not be the one who got away… twice. Despite her friend Suzanne’s warning to “not put all her eggs in one bastard”, Stephanie takes on a “fr

We all have that someone who got away. But when Stephanie Cohen’s college crush, Craig Hille, seems to take an interest in her, she is determined not to let him get away again. She puts all the effort into segueing their friendship into a real relationship, not letting anything get in the way. This means her job, her friend’s advice, and another great guy. Stephanie is convinced Craig is the one for her, and ignores all the warning signs that Craig just may not be that into her.

Any single woman will find a fast friend in Stephanie Cohen, debut author Meredith Schorr's heroine, in her novel, "Just Friends With Benefits".
Stephanie, an ambitious and endearing single woman in the city, is on the quest for love and, like many single women in reality, finds herself bumbling and stumbling through the shark infested waters of the dating world. What I found most entertaining and, I must admit, very familiar was Stephanie's circular inner dialogue as she More...

Stephanie Cohen is one hell of a heroine. The author gives us a character every woman can relate to and from the start you can feel the connection. She has a way to embrace each reader with the quirky personality Stephanie portrays leaving every reader giggling through the story. Making mention to several shows that we can relate to Schorr adds the nostalgia many readers enjoy.

Schorr's story of Stephanie Cohen, a 30-something paralegal who hasn't had much luck in the long-term love department since breaking up with her college-boyfriend-turned-buddy, is a relatable one. If you've ever had a "what if" moment about the high school or college crush that never turned into something more than simply that, you'll enjoy the twist that 'Just Friends With Benefits' takes when Stephanie goes down that road to act upon the spark she always felt with Hille, her longtime

I really liked this book! The main character, Stephanie Cohen, comes across like a close friend all the way through. You feel like you're on this journey with her, and you really *feel* it with her--the highs and lows. You want to hug her when her heart breaks. You want to shake her when she doesn't make the best choices. You want to go out and slam tequila shots and do karaoke with her. Schorr has created strong characters you know, and want to know, and sews up the events with a true, natural

I am torn about this book. I really liked the book but for most of the first half of the book, I wanted to smack Stephanie sometimes. She does so many things wrong in her relationships. I wanted to scream at her to stop being such a pushover and to stop obsessing over this guy…it’s been over a decade!! I couldn’t even bring myself to hope that things work out for her and the guy she’s been crushing on all this time. It was kind of that feeling of we’ve all been there and we know better mixed wit

Stephanie goes on a mission to hook up with Craig. Craig turns hers down and then comes back the next day and they hook up. Stephanie soon believes “Hillie” and her are meant More...

This was one of my favorite books to read this summer! Friends with Benefits is such a hot topic and I love how Meredith Schorr took on the subject. The characters are quirky and fun, the type of people that you would want to know in real life and pal around with. I absolutely love the pop culture references that scatter this book and the premise of those lasting friendships.

"Just Friends with Benefits" is an engaging, realistic portrayal of the insecurities we all face when trying to find "the one." I adore Stephanie Cohen - she's hilarious, vulnerable, a bit of a klutz and most importantly - real. I found myself laughing out loud several times as I read this book - I especially loved all of the pop culture references. Ahhhh George Glass.
The secondary characters were great as well - I enjoyed all of the scenes with her circle of friend More...

This book was part of my April book club, and the author even visited to speak with us about it. It was cute, and for the most part well down. I thought the dialog was a little forced at the beginning of the novel, but character development continued throughout the book making it much less noticeable.
