A few years ago, a friend gave us some cookies as a holiday gift, including the best gingerbread I have ever tasted. When I asked for the recipe, she told me about this book. I've only made a few recipes from it so far, but every one has been a winner. I just pulled it out yesterday to look for recipes for Christmas cookies. Right now, I have a list of about 15 recipes I'd like to try ... but I'll probably only make a few this week.

On edit: I've made 3 more recipes from this book for the holida...more

I kind of love everything about King Arthur Flour--I buy their products, locally or online, and prowl the cookbooks and recipe databases regularly for inspiration. This book is part of the reason why. I've had it for a number of years. The recipes are very good (lemon bars, brownies, biscotti--oh my!), and they offer variations for many of them. It comes out at Christmas, of course, but often it's also the go-to book when I'm bringing dessert. Cookies are often quick to prepare and to carry.

I know I am supposed to put books about ministry, church history and things of that sort on Goodreads. However, this book has been of such benefit to me that I am slighting it by leaving it out. Many a long afternoon over big books and the Greek New Testament has been made much more enjoyable by this book. From oatmeal cookies to chocolate chip cookies to rocky road bars this book has been great. We have liked every single recipe. My wife absolutely loves it and so do I. It is the Christmas gift...more

THis is an outstanding book--especially for making simple classic cookies--it has a master recipe for each of the basics, then a crip version, a chewy version, etc. This is one of an excellent series by King Arthur on baking--having been to their store in Northfield a number of times, I can see that they have alot of experience with baking and took a long time to go from there to doing cookbooks, which is a good way to do it--these recipes work and are delicious

I live to bake cookies from scratch and this is HANDS DOWN my favorite cookie cookbook. I love how the contributors adjust recipes for things like brownies and chocolate chip cookies to reflect different preferences. Do you like your brownies fudgy, cakey, or fudgy-cakey? King Arthur tells you how to achieve just the texture you love.

The only cookie book you need. Every time I need a certain type of cookie, I find it in this book and it turns out perfect. The best thing is that accurate weights are given for ingredients, because that's the only way one should be baking.

This is easily my favorite cookie (and brownie, biscotti, etc.) book.

There are a ton of wonderful recipes, with lots of variations, and there is an absolute ton of general baking information that you can use in all kinds of baking.

An essential collection from, in my opinion, some of the best authorities on baking. King Arthur Flour extensively studies and researches, and this cookbook is the end result. Almost too many cookies to choose from! I have all the KAF cookbooks, and this is a favorite for sure.

I bake a lot and do cookies for the holidays. Several older recipes that I didn't have. Good selection, would love more pictures. Some of the cookies I would have passed over made it to my recipe book after seeing the picture.

Many (too many) good recipes. Love the soft molasses cookies, want to try the mint ones and pb sandwich cookies, but was not found of the building block cookies at the end. They are just shortbread, which is good, but not what I was looking for.

King Arthur Flour Company is the oldest flour mill in the US and located in New England. Everything they do is good. And OMG, there's a recipe for Nanaimo Bars
Maria
I baked a lot of cookies from this book. for the on-the-fence brownies I reduced the salt and they are the best brownies ever.

Useful tips, aside from the great recipes. Numerous variations of favorites, I need to buy this book.

the folks at king arthur have covered all the bases putting together this book, from giving measurements in volume and weights to having a toll-free cookie baking hotline. the fudge brownie recipe is one of my favorite recipes ever and is always a huge hit, but i've been inspired to try making lots of different treats, from earl grey tea bars to graham crackers (YUM) to homemade oreos (people absolutely flip out over them). it's my cookie bible, and i find myself turning to it over and over agai...more

So many great cookies.

This tome of a cook book is the most detailed and organized one for making cookies that I know of. The staff at King Arthur Flour is so good to us to have made this monster volume for us.

The variety is great. I haven't yet been dissapointed by a cookie I've made from it, and there are so many more that I want to make.

If you are into cookies then this is as big a must have as their "Baker's Companion". It is an essential book to own or at least have access too.

I NEED to own this book. I don't think that the library is going to let me keep checking it out much longer!!!
Cary
I love this book! The Good As Store Bought Cookies (Oatmeal, Chocolate Chip, Espresso) are the best!!!
