This radiant picture book speaks to each of us having individual experiences in the world. Only you can feel things the way that you do. Only you taste, hear, smell and see things in the way that you do. No one else breathes with your breath. No one else wishes on the same star in the same way. And no one else feels the emotions you do or says I love you the way that you mean it.

This picture book describes the many things that one can experience in nature. Everyone can experience nature, like the kiss of rain on your skin. Wow. This is a summertime bedtime book that begs to be turned into a cherished ritual. And seriously, that is not something that I can recall having said about too many books.
Big soft realistic paintings of children pair with descriptive mellifluous text to create a lullaby-like book full of sensory images. Lie on your back and imagine a soft voice saying,

or the wind ruffle your hair.
And no one but you can walk through a rain puddle

Simply beautiful, this book describes the singular world that each of us lives through our unique experiences. Rich with sensory images of Nature, each two-page spread highlights one child tasting, touching, seeing, and feeling the world around him/her.
Beautiful illustrations give parents and students a chance to hopefully be observant of the beauty in their world. Might make a nice writing mentor text.
The text in this inspiring picture book reminds each of us that it's up to us to make a difference. There's a beautiful world out there waiting for us to notice. There are seeds that need to be planted, plants that need to be nurtured, and stories to be told. The illustrations focus on individuals giving their all to make something good happen instead of waiting for something good to happen to them. This would be a great addition to a text set about children who can change the world in small and...more
