Oathbreaker (A Faery Tale Short Story)
by
M.R. Mathias
This isn't your mom's faery tale. This pixie has an attitude.
Oonzil Windlestraw is a pixie with a hard right cross, and he is tired of defending the honor of his Oathbreaking father. He befriends a human wizard with an eagle familiar. The trio are forced into dramatic action when a fairy hunter nabs some fairies and a local pixie girl with the intent of grinding them into...more

A pixie fable with a dark underside...
M. R. Mathias has taken the classical fable to a whole new level...
Oonzil is an aggressive young pixie who feels the need to defend his family's honor, no matter who he needs to fight or how many times he must be punished by Master Zarvin the wizard. He refuses to accept the insults hurled at his father just because he had returned home after promising not to escape from a Human trapper who intended to grind him into pixie dust. Wasn't it enough that he ha...more

A fantasy short story that features a young pixie that sets out to fix his father’s reputation as an Oathbreaker. As a huge fantasy fan I really enjoyed this one. It’s a lot of fun and the ending was quite funny actually. It was quite a quick read; my only complaint is that I did get the names of two of the characters mixed up quite often. However, Oathbreaker is a really fun read. It’s definitely worth a read at least once.
Mathias does it again, creating a world of magic and fun in just moments. His world building ability is second to none, and he immediately draws you into his character's lives. I enjoyed this immensely and it's a fun little jaunt into the worlds that Mathias is capable of creating. This is just the tip of the iceberg, people. Read this, then go on to his other works! You won't be sorry you did.

The jewel you see glowing in the ring in my authors photo isn't really a jewel at all. It is the crystallized tear of a real dragon. In my novel "The Royal Dragoneers" you might find the moment where this wonderfully magical tear drop fell from a green dragons eye and hardened on its way down to land in a mess of troll corpses that the dragon was laying on.
