An avid reader of Pamela Clare’s books and self-confessed “I-Team-oholic” , Lady Jayne, is one of the luckiest people on earth to have received an advanced copy of Ms. Clare’s latest thrilling instalment, through the Mission of Mercy ARC Program for the Bed-Ridden. Reports of the sounds of excited squeals from the reader’s home in Adelaide, Australia, is said to have been heard as far as neighbouring New Zealand. However, no correlation to the recent earthquakes sadly suffered by the devastated Kiwis has been found. Let us keep the people of Christchurch, the cyclone and flood victims of Queensland and Victoria, and all those affected by natural disasters, in our thoughts and prayers.

Though, it is not only the traumas caused by natural disasters that break our hearts. The horrors that humans inflict upon each other ravage our spirits. Pamela Clare’s dedication in her latest book reminds us of one of these horrors. “It is so touching that it will make readers’ hearts ache and may even cause their eyes to glisten…well, at least it did, for me...and it was just the dedication!”, said Lady Jayne.

Breaking Point will grip readers from the start and is probably Ms. Clare’s most action packed I-Team book. Yet, like all the books in the series, it deals with meaningful subject matter, born from the author’s experiences as a newspaper editor and journalist.

At an interview at her home this week, Lady Jayne stated: “My 2011 started off badly with bronchitis, then discovering I had Glandular Fever (“Mono” in USA)… but receiving an ARC of Breaking Point has totally …MADE. MY. YEAR!!! I’m usually always behind on new releases in my favourite series, being Down Under. This is the first ARC I have ever received. For it to be one of Pamela Clare’s books? I am without words. Thank you again, Pamela, for another AWESOME read!”

Breaking Point will give readers “heart attacks” of the “WHAT?!?! Noooooooo!!!...” and “WHOA! Really??? Just…WHOA...” variety, heart pounding and breathless moments (of the suspenseful and other kind). And even if the dedication didn’t make you cry, other aspects of this book more than likely will.

Natalie Benoit, former resident of New Orleans is a survivor of Hurricane Katrina. Her story is just heart wrenching. Following the devastation wrought by Katrina, Natalie joined the investigative team (I-Team) of the Denver Independent as its crime reporter, replacing Tessa Novak.

“This book was scorching HOT! And not just because they were in the prickly Sonoran Desert!” said reader Lady Jayne, during an interview at her home. “In fact, it contained one of my fantasies…” she said, blushing.

“I loved Natalie and Zach! They are both such strong characters and have been through a lot in their lives, both with tragic pasts that still haunt them. I loved when they began to open up to each other, and move on from their pasts. My heart ached for them. I really loved how they watched out for one another. The ending of this was just...WOW! Soo ... intense and ... emotional ... but I'm not giving anything away. You just have to read it for yourself! I also loved seeing the development of characters from earlier books - with their kids, pregnancies, the depths of their friendships... just “Awwww!”

Though Post Viral Fatigue prevented Lady Jayne from devouring this book as fast as she would have liked, it has aided in her recovery, uplifting her spirits. Sources close to Lady Jayne have confirmed how “beyond thrilled” and thankful she is.

It is no secret that I-Team fans are twitchy with anticipation for this one. In Lady Jayne’s humble opinion, “Breaking Point will be worth the wait.”

Hunky Jed Hill is the cover model for the book. It is expected that there will be worldwide reports of women suffering ‘heat stroke’, once they get their hands on it.

If Jed Hill as Zach McBride entices you to read this book and you haven’t read the I-Team series yet, while each book does stand-alone (for plot and main characters), Lady Jayne recommends reading the books in order, as your reading experience will be better enhanced by doing so.

“Plus, Reece and Kara, Julian and Tessa, Marc and Sophie, and Gabe and Kat (and now Zach and Natalie join the ranks) are all amazing, individually, and combined! I love the moments in the later books where we see the interactions between the characters from earlier books. I really enjoyed the “Bromance" between Julian and Marc in Naked Edge, and we get more of that in Breaking Point, and now with the addition of Gabe,” Lady Jayne said, smiling, with a shimmer of tears in her eyes.

Pamela Clare’s 4th book in the I-Team series, Naked Edge, recently won the All About Romance Best Romantic Suspense for 2010, as voted by the readers. Though, Ms. Clare seems to be her harshest critic, as in her response posted on ARR she stated:

Naked Edge was a tough book to write and took a lot of risks, in part because I wanted Kat, the heroine, to be authentically Navajo. This story starts with a bang, and drops us right in the middle of Ciudad Juarez where drug, and human trafficking cartels are prevalent and rule the streets. Natalie Benoit is there for a convention and tour, when the tour bus is taken over by Zetas, one of the drug cartels, and Natalie is captured and imprisoned, with the promise of sexual slavery and death looming. She is thrown into a dark, dirty arachnid infested cell, and quickly discovers that she has a neighbor, Zach Black (McBride) who is a highly decorated war hero, turned US Marshal. Zach has already been there days ahead of her, and has suffered extreme torture at the hands of the Zetas. With her impending future of rape and death, and Zach’s certain torturous death to come, they must find a way to escape.

After escaping from their prison, and on the run from the Zetas, Zach has promised to get Natalie safely home to US soil. Not able to trust the government officials in Mexico because the Zetas have many of them on their payroll, Zach and Natalie set out on an incredible journey of survival. Along the way, they find that they have more in common than circumstances that have brought them together.

Natalie is such a strong character, mentally and physically, but her heart has been through some trauma that has left her alone for the past 6 years. And Zach *sigh* is a war hero, who doesn’t feel heroic at all, due to events in Afghanistan in which he blames himself. He has no concept of the hero he truly is. Can Natalie make him see the man he really is? Can Zach help Natalie overcome her past?

I don’t want to give up too much of the story, one of the best things was unraveling this page by page. It was fast paced, perfectly written, the characters were excellent, swoon worthy, both Natalie and Zach were heroic. And I loved that the previous characters; Gabe, Julian, and Marc were all in this book, not just a brief appearance.

This book is Romantic Suspense perfection!!

Breaking Point does not disappoint! Pamela Clare is on a roll with her I-Team series, and she's got everything right with this one, delivering a top-notch romantic suspense.

Starting with that cover (*thump-thump*), the brave beautiful heroine, the sexy, fearless hero, the suspenseful plot (filled with enough twists and turns to keep you guessing), the sadistic, depraved villain, the fiery, white-hot romance, the cliff-hanger ending...what's not to love...did I leave anything out?

Oh my stars!!!

Ok this book starts off with heart-pounding action and doesnt let up till the end. Throw in some steamin hot romance and you got one fantastic contemporary romantic suspense!

OMG!, I am truly speechless with this book!....just....Whoa:-))
I loved all I-team series books, and Breaking Point is the best!
The story was flawless from beginning until the end. It was one of the
most intense, fast packed, hot romance, emotional, a great plot
and exciting endings.

Zach MacBride or Zach Black was such a hot and sexy hero.
Natalie was an angel, brave and beautiful heroine.
They were a perfect match and deserves for each other.

Natalie Benoit is a member of the ITeam. For a change of scenery she goes to Mexico for a convention put together by the Society of Professional Journalists. As they are being bussed from one location to another they are ambushed. The men who came onto to the bus kill all the Mexican journalists and take Natalie. She is bound and thrown in a trunk of a car. Once they get to their destination she is taken out of the car and put in a dark cell. And out of the darkness comes a voice.

Zach McBride is a Deputy US Marshall working the “line”, trying to take down a drug cartel. He is in a cell somewhere deep in Zeta territory, they are convinced he has stolen cocaine. This book was intense! Natalie and Zach’s escape from the Zeta compound is incredible. Natalie has inner strength, and a strong determination to live. She is my favorite ITeam heroine; smart, strong, resourceful, and caring to her core. Zach is haunted by his past and his present strangles his future. He has common ITeam hero traits; he is resigned to a life alone and down to his core he will protect his love.
Again Pamela Clare delivers dialogue that is heart pounding during scenes of intense conflict, tender at private moments, and laugh out loud funny when all the ITeam husbands are around.

“Got enough leg room there Rossiter?” Marc asked, “You bet. If not, I’ll just make use of the overhead bin.”

Tonight I tried to describe to my best friend my favorite part of this book and I found I was telling her the whole plot. There isn’t a part I didn’t like. The interaction between Zach and Natalie was superb, the interaction with our past ITeam heroes and heroines was seamless to the story, and the plot was not like anything I have read before. It has everything a good book should, great dialogue, heart wrenching suspense, characters you can’t help but love, and a hero and heroine who find a forever love. It’s going on my favorite shelf!

At first I was afraid of not enjoying this book as much as the others because of its beginning but I shouldn't have. Because yes, she did it again! Breaking Point is another great action/emotion packed story delivered by Pamela Clare!

I really really love her couples and with this one she did not disappoint me.

I can't wait for the next one!

I loved every moment of this wild, emotional, intense ride!! I was shocked at some points and touched by others. This book had everything including an awesome hero and a wonderful heroine. It had a great story with terrible bad guys and lots of suspense. I was smiling at the end and wish I had it to read all over again for the first time.

I just can't get enough of this series. Once I start reading one of these books I can't stop until I'm done and then I want to read it again and again. I thought it was really difficult to feel anything more for the characters from the previous books (Julian, Marc & Gabe) but Pamela really knocked them out of the park in this book. I was blessed enough to receive an ARC of this book and, just as with all the others in this series, promptly devoured it. It just as quickly became my FAVORITE book so far! @Pamela_Clare Wow! Wow! That's all I can say!! I bow down to writing greatness. From the very beginning of reading this story- I was hook, line, and sinker. Pamela does such a great job telling this story.
The hero Zach is one sexy-hawt US Marshall and the heroine Natalie, I really liked. She was a strong heroine.

Has one of the BEST ever epilogues I have read.

This is the first book I read in this series. I really liked the story, but loved the ending because too often I get stuck with a ending that seems rushed or just left you hanging. Ms Clare wrapped the ending up so well and believable I was in awe.

Yep, I ditched my book club book mid-way to start this one...

Edited to add: ... and I'm so glad I did!! The same thing happened when I was reading Naked Edge--at a certain point in the story, it became impossible to put the book down. Loved the camaraderie between the heroes from prior I-Team books. I'm particularly intrigued by this Marc Hunter character...

Too bad my book club meets tomorrow and I'm still only halfway through our book. Oops. I blame Pamela Clare. : )

My Review:
Natalie and Zach have both had a rough few years. 6 years ago Natalie survived a murder attempt during Hurricane Katrina to then lose her parents and fiance to a fatal car wreck on their way to pick her up from the hospital. Zach was stationed in Afghanistan where he lost his entire patrol and almost died himself. For the most part, both of these people have never reconnected with life again since their personal tragedies. On the surface, they seem fine, but neither one shares what has happened to them and it haunts them...until they find themselves in another nightmare. They are trying to stay alive and manage to make a connection through that struggle that touches both of them. All of a sudden they find themselves having to rely and share with another person and that is the start of their healing process.

I really liked both of Natalie's and Zach's characters.They are in an awful situation and doing whatever it takes to survive showing incredibly strong wills. I also have to admit that it made this book even more enjoyable to read about Zach and imagine him as Jed Hill (cover model and true model that Pamela patterned Zach's character after while writing Breaking Point.)

One of the things that I have really loved about this series is the friendships that have developed between all the guys. The I-Team books, so far, have only featured the female members of the I-Team and they are already close friends. The guys have all been brought into the dynamic, but over time, all of these guys have developed amazing friendships and camaraderie too. This was played out gorgeously at the climax of this book watching the guys all work together to keep Natalie safe.

I also really loved how protective ALL these guys are of ALL the girls. They are true heroes and willing to do whatever it takes to keep any of the members of the I-Team safe.

Another great installment to the I-Team series. Seriously action-packed, suspenseful, with some gorgeously beautiful love scenes. Nat & Zach are scorching!(less)

YAAA!!!!! Jumpy claps! All of my favorite boys were in full effect in this one. Marc, Julian and Gabe and then add Zach on top of that. Goodness gracious. Natalie was kick ass and I loved her. That's all I have for now...may add something more coherent later.

Reading about regulation of rRNA gene expression ended up losing out to the hotness of a half-naked & sand-covered Jed Hill and I finished the book. I may regret that when I have no idea what is going on during my thesis update, but at least I enjoyed the ride :)

Extreme Exposure remains my favourite I-Team novel (it's hard to displace a first, especially when said first is just so bloody good! Naked Edge gave it a run for its money), but Breaking Point is excellent and worth every second th...more
