This deliciously scandalous novel tells us the secrets of the reigning queens of television talk shows, Deanna Reynolds and Angela Perkins.
Their high-staked rivalry, fought with public smiles and private betrayals, is more than a ratings competition. It becomes an off-screen war when Deanna replaces Angela both on the air and behind the scenes with Angela's former lover a

There's a reason why Nora Roberts is a name in romance books. Private Scandals was an exquisite book. The first thing I noted was the the irregular series of incidents didn't make it like a romance book but rather as one about the dangers in the television world. It was very humane, provoking compassion for the heroine and real hate for her rival and former mentor. But it was also very down-to-earth. The danger, for example, television people take. Also that the pretty face we see on the telly i ...more

Deanna Reynolds is slowly rising through the ranks at Chicago’s CBC news division and cultivating, by giving up her free time, her friendship with the reigning queen of talk shows, Angela Perkins. Then, a story about a plane in distress, despite being “stolen” by one of the passengers, fellow CBC reporter Finn Riley, brings her to the attention of the bosses, and Angela, trying to get rid of competition both on air and off it, offers her a job in New York.

When Deanna refuses out of loyalty, she

Começando pelas personagens, considero-as credíveis e bem elaboradas.

I killed two birds with one stone with this one. Not only did I finally read a book by Nora Roberts, but I also finally checked out the Overdrive audiobooks my library has been providing for the last year. I'd been hesitant to try it out, first because they initially didn't offer an iPod compatible format, then because I don't listen to audiobooks as much as I used to, so it generally takes me longer than the 7 or 14 day loan periods to finish one. But I'd decided to take a solo trip this weeken ...more

I'm surprised how much I liked this one. If you've read my reviews before, I like at least 60/40 suspense/romance ratio. This was definately 50/50 - it might have even been heavier on the romance. But I still liked it. A couple reasons. 1) The way it starts. Roberts starts out strong throwing the mystery right at you so that it follows you through the whole story. Then she back tracks so you can see how it came to be. 2) The proffession. I think it helped that she writes journalists with such a ...more

Now matter if it is a new release or a book written years ago, you know once you start reading you will be hooked. The rivalry that Angela makes between her and Deanna is addicting. I wanted to know how far Angela would go. But then the murders start. Are they connected and if so how? Enter Finn....can he save Deanna and see a future with him? Five stars. Another winner.

'Private Scandals' kept me entertained, but the identity of the stalker/obsessive fan/murderer was easy to figure out. The book did drag at spots, certain things became repetitive and were more in depth than necessary. Other facets of the book were somewhat far-fetched, but again, it's fiction.

Fairly standard 90s romance-thriller from NR, stalker theme. Our Heroine spends a lot of time saying "I can take care of myself. I won't have you (fill in the blank) to take care of me." And then she needs rescuing.

Deanna Reynolds is a TV journalist at a small Chicago station. She has a lot of ambition, including a step-by-step plan for her career—in writing. In the beginning, Deanna is eagerly working extra hours for the station’s brightest star, Angela Perkins, hoping to gain knowledge and experience from this older, successful mentor. Deanna is also dating a psychologist who sometimes acts as an expert for Angela’s popular talk

I've read this one twice at least, and most of all I remember Finn. He swept my away long time ago, and I still like his charm immensely. Otherwise Private Scandals is entertaining and I think well-written.

2.5 rounded up.

This is a story in three acts.
Act 1: we meet a clever, determined and optimistic heroine, a witty hero who knows the difference between bantering and patronizing and who respects the heroine instead of paying lip service to it, and a villain who is a good match for both of them.
Act 2: The heroine rises to greatness and completes her journey of emotional growth to find her HEA with the hero, while the villain stumbles into irrelevance.
Act 3... is a bloody mess. The villain is k
