Reviewing books can be a fantastic and trying thing to do at times. Especially when you have a split view on a book. There are books you fall in love with and it is an easy review to write and there are the ones you had to force yourself to finish or gave up on and those are also easy to review. But when it lands in the middle for one reason or another, the lack of an absolute makes it a tad bit more difficult.

I quite enjoyed the storyline of this book. The characters had quite a bit of depth an...more

The only good thing I can say about this book is that it put me to sleep, something I often have problems with. I did read all of it, but only because I kept forcing myself to continue, so I couldn't be accused of not giving it a fair chance when I posted this negative review.

Even having read the entire book, I still don't understand what is going on. Some kind of weird good vs evil but lots of confusion over who is on which side. I have no clear picture of the world or any of the characters. Th...more

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed reading this book. Travis Simmons is a very talented and creative writer and I will definitely be reading more of his work. I currently have a few of his titles on my To Be Read list. Without a doubt, I will keep track of his books. I enjoy the author’s skills of world building – especially how he creates his characters. My favorite character of this book is Jovian. Jovian is the ideal man and I liked reading...more

The Bonds of Blood, Travis Simmons

The Bonds of Blood is an epic fantasy by Travis Simmons that chronicles the adventures of Jovian, Angelica and Joya Neferis as they embark upon a dangerous quest to save their older sister, Amber, from the clutches of an unknown but prophecised evil.

Before they set out from their plantation home, Dauin Neferis gifts his children with elaborate weapons and powerful artefacts that were once owned by their mother; equipment that he knows will be invaluable if they...more

The Bonds of Blood has a lot of potential, unfortunately, a lot of it is wasted in confusing writing and obscure plot. It's... interesting. The world building is good and unique, but hard to grasp. I spent a lot of the book just feeling puzzled as I tried to work out who was who and just what was going on. (Oh, the siblings are quads? Why was this not mentioned?!) I feel like I should have enjoyed this much more than I did. The ending had a great cliffhanger, but I doubt that I'm going back for...more

This book started out kinda slow for me. I was able to get into to it after a few chapters. With that being said, that is the only thing that lowered my rating for The Bonds of Blood.

If you are into fantasy, mystery, love, enemies, fighting, building story lines, then this book is for you.

The Bonds of Blood (The Revenant Wyrd Saga, #1)

I have been writing since I was 14. I began writing a book called "The Calling of the Two" and while writing that on and off I started uncovering another idea.

"Yes, this is all well and good, but what about before? What happened in the world before these characters came into it?" I always knew there was a "before" and as I started wondering about it I got ideas. At first they were little ideas but...more
