It’s werewolf mating season. All the males are in heat and the driving, sexual lust of their beasts is almost uncontrollable. Mika is human, in an alley, surrounded by four horny werewolves. She knows she’s in deep shit. A tall, handsome werewolf rescues her then demands payment. Hot, sweaty, intimate payment. Grady is a half breed whose human mother abandoned him to his w ...more

Buddy read with Sandra :)

This book was a first for me. I had never read a werewolf book and it wasn’t very disappointing. The truth is that I didn’t have high expectations about since the blurb makes you avoid the book as plague.
Worst blurb ever!

Ex ; Mika is human, in an alley, surrounded by four horny werewolves. She knows she’s in deep shit.

The story: Mika is a human girl raised by werewolves .Her stupid decision to walk alone the streets as the mating heat approaches will change her life.

Buddy read with the lovely Kristina! *waves*.

What is it about?
It's mating season for all the werewolves, and when Mika finds herself surrounded by not 2, not 3, but 4 horny men, she knows she's in deep sh*t. They don't seem to mind that she's human, and that she's the niece of a very powerful alpha male. They

This ended up being a DNF for me.

Book starts with heroine, who is a human, visiting her uncle's town. Uncle is a werewolf. Lives in a town full on werewolves. She's surrounded by 4 guys who don't give a s*** who she's related to. All they care about is that it's mating season and she's not claimed by anyone. Hero steps in just in time to save the day. Later, we find out hero is part of her uncle's team. Heroine is warned to not go anywhere at night because it's mating season and she could be at

Good beginning, but I was disappointed and angry with most of the conflicts. Heroine makes stupid assumptions.

Most humans are unaware that werewolves are living in their community. Mika is a human who was adopted by Omar’s sister. She knows Omar is a werewolf and keeps the secret. She lives in California but visits Omar for a few weeks a year. Omar loves her and is protective of her. This year she unknowingly visits during werewolf mating season. Large numbers of werewolves visit the

OK I HAVE to say that the h in this book was the most annoying, childish, self centered character I've come into contact with for quite some time. Given her background you would expect her to be solid, mature, and adult. In truth much of the time she acted like a 14 year old not a 28 year old! I was continually amazed at the amount of pandering that went on with her family - if I'd of been then I WOULD have spanked her (and NOT in a good way either!)

Grady was fine for the most part - enough to r
Well, I feel bad because this is the first 1 star review I have ever given, and I thought I would at least give it 2, but looking at the definitions of 1 and 2 stars, it really wasn't okay for me...I just didn't like it, unfortunately.

I am not a prude by any means, as I have come to enjoy some good erotica recently, but this book was just a bit overboard for me. First of all, it totally rubbed me the wrong way from the get-go when the H/h ended up getting hot and heavy on the side of a house onl

This is a 3.5 star book and since I truncate, it's a 3. Mika is the niece of an influential werewolf. Visiting her Uncle Omar for two weeks turns into a kind of a life sentence. Mika is supposed to be 28 in this book. I guess maybe as an only child, she's been coddled a bit too much? Or perhaps she's one of those people whose logic works in different ways. My guess, is that she is a sensor. She doesn't use facts and logic to make decisions. She purely goes by how she feels. This can be a good th ...more

The opening scene of this book was so Freaking Hot!!! I love a little forced seduction, and a dominant alpha that takes control. Especially when he is just protecting a damsel in distress.

As a fan of Laurann Dohner's books, I was not let down by this one. It was hot, sexy and action packed.

The alpha had a scene though where I was afraid he had suffered a mental breakdown, but it all worked out in the end.

*** warning, this review might be a bit spoilerish****

I had mixed feelings about this story. It was well written and was alright but I had issues with the conflicts and the ways they were handled. Grady seemed iffy through most of the story and Mika was put in impossible situations that just made me feel bad for her. There is some insta-love going for those that don't like that sort of thing.

Mika lives in California and has a life but nothing is really holding her there. She has an un

While this did have some great angst this just didn't work for me. It was an ok read but not up to what I've enjoyed in her other series of books. I've started the second one in this series and it has started out rather well. Keeping my fingers crossed it stays enjoyable.

For my second book by Laurann Dohner, this was actually a pretty good erotica that piqued my interest. The hero's a douche bag though, so. At times, I wanted to hit him with a sack of potatoes in the head or something because he was so damn insensitive when it comes to Mika's feelings. Sure, we get the fact that he didn't want to hurt her physically but he never once thought that he might possibly be damaging her more inside. I'm talking emotions here. Mika has always been attracted to Grady and ...more
ok so ill admit there wasn't really a plot outside of the relationship between the hero and heroine... but hello?! this is a EROTIC PARANORMAL ROMANCE ! Granted, there are tons of erotic PNRs that have amazing plots outside of the relationship but this novel didn't need some villan to come out of nowhere to mix it up and make it interesting. i actually rated this a 3.5

I'm a HUGE fan of Laurann Dohner, but this book just didn't do it for me. I liked Mika, but Grady came across as an arrogant jackass for about 95% of the book. I had high hopes for the book, to see what Laurann would do with shifters, but was sadly disappointed. This is a book that suffered from being entirely from Mika's point of view. There was one portion that was from Grady's POV, which gave us a brief glimpse of his mindset, but the remainder was from hers alone and therefore, the HEA seeme ...more

Another great story by Laurann Dohner. I love all her previous stuff and I was happy to see that she also does werewolves really well too. At first Grady seemed a bit assholish to me with his ideas of only mating a she-wolf. I mean the guy's half human, what's with all the hate? Well we learn that he's suffered because of his half-breed status so I kinda forgave him. The chemistry between Grady and Mika is smoking hot and I just wanted more...please.
Future Slayer Girl (aka: kitten)
I think Laurann has written my favorite werewolf books to date! It has been a LONG time since I have enjoyed werewolves! Thank you for giving them back their rough sex appeal and great werewolf politics. The best since Blood and Chocolate

Hero was too much of an a** but the story kept my attention.

I enjoyed the shifter world that Dohner created in this book. Grady and Mika were totally likeable but they both had moments that awakened my throat punching hand -- especially when a simple conversation would have cleared up misunderstandings. The story was a short but smexy read that provided me with a few enjoyable hours of reading. I "read" this as an audiobook and thought the narrator did a great job bringing Dohner's story to life. I can't wait to read more about Grady's brother's -- I lov ...more
Yadkny’s Review

Mika’s upbringing into a world of werewolf shifters and humans hasn’t exactly made her qualified to stay out of trouble. Although human herself, Mika’s uncle is a werewolf shifter and has taught her the ways of his pack… well almost all of them. Uncle Omar knowingly withheld vital information regarding mating season, thinking that this will keep Mika ‘innocent’ from the highly sexual natures of werewolf shifters. Her yearly vacation to visit with Uncle Omar couldn’t have come at a
I can't believe I liked this book.
I mean, outside their bedroom there was no plot whatsoever. I could count all the characters, who spoke in this book on my hand, which is pretty sad. And if you took out all those steamy hot sex scenes the whole book would fit into one chapter, maybe even less...
The thing is, we never really got to know the characters. The only time I actually felt something from the heroine was when Grady took another man to her bedroom, she threw a fit and kicked him out of he
1.5 Stars.
its not that this was a bad book. I just didn't like the characters, storyline or relationship development. It's basically Mike pining for a guy she's intimate with who doesn't want her permanently. I can't stand female protagonist who's life revolves around the hot guy they are banging. What saved it was the sex. It was pretty hot! Unfortunately, it takes more than just hot sex to get me to like a book.
This wasn't my cup of tea - Mika was shallow, insecure and borderline stupid and Grady's character was inconsistent and maddening. Honestly, having read some of New Species series this was very underwhelming.
Five stars for sure. Really loved this one, although I love all her books!!

I was on the whole love hate relationship with this book! The amount of unnecessary drama just drove me bat crazy! OH. MY. GOSH. I just wanna whack them over the head with a pan at times!!! D< I love some moments, I hate some moments.

Okay so. Grady is pretty awesome. Hot hunk, awesome yummy sex but he is an absolute douche. Does he not know what is romance? I would love to have seen Grady interacting with Mika more as a wolf though, that would have been super adorable! I'd say romance and tac
Interesting twist to the whole werewolf human mating storyline. This is not a HEA story, well it was a long time coming. The story starts out quite quickly with Mika getting herself into a situation that she had to be rescued from and then consequently puts herself into another more intimate situation with her hero. All because she didn't really know the rules of the werewolf society and know how to follow them. Mika makes a lot of drama as she struts around tempting werewolves in heat. Because ...more

Mika goes to visit her uncle in the Summer instead of the Winter, not knowing it was mating season. She's attacked the first day and saved by Grady. Her uncle forgot all about it and wants a guard to watch out for her while she's there. He picks Grady who just happens to not want to mate with a human ever and is fighting his attraction to Mika. Mika's one of those stupid women who hear she should not go out at night, so she goes out at night. She shouldn't dance in front of horny werewolves, so ...more
This book was mostly a miss for me. There were some elements that I enjoyed, and the sex scenes were undeniably hot. However, the unnatural dialogue (which often verged into information-dumping territory), the repetition of some information, the occasional stilted conversations, and the numerous instances where the heroine lacked any autonomy or say in what happened to her life/body really diminished my enjoyment of the book.

Much of the problems the heroine, Mika, runs into could have been avoi
Grady is my least favorite Dohner hero. The werewolf theme has never been a favorite of mine and Grady tipifies all the reasons why. The story started off well and I was enamored with Grady the rescuer, but as the mating season progressed Grady became such a dumba$$. But enough said ,,, no spoilers here ,,, just not the best alpha character in this one ,,, sigh :( Hope his brother Anton is a bit more astute in book two)
