Update: Finished the book last night. I liked the second half more than the first. I wish, oh how I *really* wish Winter would have gave Sloane a tongue lashing once and for all!

I picked up Kiss & Blog to tie me over until Dark Flame is released. The Immortal series is my introduction to Alyson Noel. I liked them enough to check out her other books. My library only had Kiss & Blog, but I wasn't picky.

Pre-reading: I don't really expect this to be very good, but it's been on my bookshelf forever so I figured I should read it.
Post-reading: So I was pretty much right with my original opinion of the book. It wasn't very good to say the least. It was poorly written, mostly unrealistic, and had too many random and pointless subplots & details.
Basically the main character Winter is really annoying and made me want to throw the book at the wall about 70 times while reading it, which is never a go...more

Winter and her best friend Sloane are sick of not being noticed. So, the summer before grade 10, they make a pact to do whatever it takes to become popular. But when Sloane gets chummy with the high school royalty, she leaves Winter behind in the dust. As revenge, Winter starts an anonymous blog, spilling all of Sloane's dirty little secrets to the world. But as the blog becomes increasingly popular and Winter receives an opportunity to make it into a novel and maybe even a film, she is forced...more
I could not put Kiss&Blog down. Seriously! Totally addictive... Winter is a shy, awkward, 15 going on 16 girl who just lost her best friend (and only friend) Sloane. Sloane ditched Winter for the back-stabbing, mean girls of Ocean High. You see, Winter and Sloane had been planning and planning their sophomore year all summer, their break-out year; where they went from nobodies, to A-listers. They changed their hair, body care products, and attitude. But once Sloane was at the top, there was...more
So, I definitely feel too old to admit that this type of gossipy young adult fiction is a definite guilty pleasure of mine, but I'm saying it regardless. I definitely enjoyed KISS AND BLOG and I would recommend it to anyone who secretly stashes away smutty gossip magazines -- because it's just THAT fun!
Backing up a little bit, KISS AND BLOG is about two best friends who have decided that they are absolutely tired of being social nobodies at their high school. Thus, they spend their summer resear...more

I came along this book by accident, made the choice to randomly go to the library one day and this is what i picked up.
I have this routine, that when i pick up a book, i'll read the first chapter, and if i like it, i'll continue reading. This was definately one of those books!
I love the fact that they based it on a girl who likes a different kind of music, and whose family is based in a different decade. I thought that brought a whole different level to the book.

Eleanor Rigby... "All the loney pople, Where do they all belong?"
Cleverly written, gut wrenchingly honest and hysterically funny, KISS & BLOG tells one awkward misfits emotional story of sophomore year, as she struggles for relevance within the social hierarchy at her So Cal high school. Not at all the juvenile bubble gum piece I expected when I picked this book up in the bargain bin and definitely a read I’m sure that teens and adults alike will find relatable on some level.

This book was great! It was one of the best books i've ever read. This book would be best for teenage girls since it involves alot of drama, which teenage girls go through daily. In this book, two best friends are split up over popularity which involes lots of backstabbing, gossip, and girl drama. I could not put this book down. I would deffinetly reccomened it.

Great fun!
Some parts reminded me of a Meg Cabot book and I love Meg Cabot :)
In one word this book is FUN!
It's a light novel that reminded me of Teen Idol (Meg Cabot ) a little bit.In case you didn't know I LOVE me Cabot! This was the perfect pick me up that I needed to get out of my reading slump.
This is the first Alyson Noel novel I've read. Technically this is the first novel I have finished.I tried reading Evermore but I left it midway as it wasn't really holding my interest and the...more

I honestly have to admit that I loved this book. The reason I gave it 4 stars and not five was because I sometimes felt that it was a bit repetitive and that I felt that Winter sometimes annoyed me. So basically this is what this story is about:
A girl named Winter and her best friend Sloane want so desperately bad to be popular. The two best friends made a pact in Grade 9 that if one of them became popular they had to bring the other one into the life of popularity. Sloane was the one who sugge...more

Kiss and Blog is an engaging and entertaining read! Alyson Noel breathes humor and life into her characters. Filled with lots of surprises and conflict, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.

I really didn't enjoy reading this book but hey it's kinda intriguing and well i'm a teenager so i can relate to the story. First time to read a Alyson noel book, I'm not saying I don't like it but it lacks something. I think the ending is cliffhanger to me, because Winter as the lead of the story just stop writing about her ex-friend which is Sloane who was Winter's blogging about all of her secrets. Well I don't blame Winter because Sloane is a bitch coz she ditched Winter just to be popular....more
It was an okay book. It was nowhere near as good as ‘Art Geeks and Prom Queens’ though. Since this is only the second Alyson Noel book I have read, I will continue to read her books but I am hoping they get back to the level that AG&PQ was. I don’t know if I want to go into her series books or not, but I will definitely continue on to her other solo books.

I thought the idea of the plot of this book was quite good, and I like that the blog wasn't made on a whim and instead was developed about half way through in order to give enough backstory to the pairing of Winter and Sloane, but some of it I found strange - there was no explanation of how the people in her school found the blog, because she called it something (Eleanor Rigby) to hide and it was a term that was unlikely to have been Googled or anything by someone in the school. Also there were...more

Well first off let me say it was an okay book! Easy reading in less than a day. But the thing that annoyed me the most was that I kept feeling as if I was ready one of the Immortals book where Ever is being an obsessive, paranoid, stalker! But instead of Roman, we have Sloane, the ExBFF.

Again, I say: All of the curse words are not necessary. (That is just my opinion.) But I'm glad that there isn't much (if any) inappropriate scenes or anything in this book by Alyson Noël. All of that aside, I think that it was a pretty good story. I don't like that Winter's best friend, Sloane, ditched her just to be popular, though. They had been friends for about 8 years. I also don't like that Sloane's new "friends" go behind her back and are nasty to her. One of my favorite characters was p...more
At first I thought this book would be something that I'd give up on after reading the first few pages or a chapter, boy was I proven wrong. I was actually laughing at "The List" the infamous "Eleanor Rigby" had going on in her blog, even I was looking forward to the tidbits that were revealed.
Well, as human beings, we are visual people and since the book does not contain illustrations or pictures, my active imagination could help but picture out a movie or TV series in the likes of Gossip Girl,...more

The blurb for this book is what drew my interest. The whole revenge blogging had me curious to see how Alyson Noel would write it and I'm glad to say that I enjoyed her efforts. This book isn't this deep thinking novel. It's a book about a pair of girls who stopped being best friends because one of the best friends got popular and the other one got left behind.

This is definitely one of Alyson Noel's best works. I have read more then one or two of her books and she has never disappointed yet. She is definitely not only one of my favorite authors but I love reading her books again and again. Though she unlike some other authors, give such subtle hints to outcomes when they happen you cannot help but be overcome with joy at what happens to these lovable characters. When I first saw this book I thought it would be much different from what it actually was....more
This book wasn't the worst book I've ever read, but I'm still surprised that I got through about half of it before tossing it aside. I can't remember where I heard about the author; her most recent book sounded interesting, but the library didn't have that one, so I picked this up instead. It was quite a let down.
The plot had a lot of promise - two girls, determined to get to the top of the high school social chain, decide to do whatever it takes to get there, but once Sloane gets in, she leave...more

In every high school there is the ruling class comprised of the best-looking and best-dressed girls and boys of the school. At Ocean High it is no different, and mousy sixteen-year-old Winter wants to be a part of the posh social scene. Along with her best-friend, Sloane, they dye their hair, buy a new wardrobe, and completely transform their appearances for the beginning of the new school year.

Must say, I didn't really care for this one. Main character Winter (another Winter, how's that for strange?) plots with her best friend, Sloane, to break into the popular crowd as sophomores. When Sloane is accepted and dumps Winter, Winter gets her revenge by posting Sloane's dirty secrets on an anonymous blog.
I appreciate the cyberbullying angle (it's hard to remain anonymous, no matter how you try), and I couldn't help thinking of Harriet the Spy. What if Harriet's journal had loyal follower...more

I'm trying to re-read Alyson Noel's Immortals series, so I figured I might pick up one of here standalone contemporary novels beforehand. I was dismally disappointed.
Winter, the main character, is one of the whiniest, most obnoxious, positively unlikeable characters ever. She yells at perfectly nice people, tells secrets, is a cheater, and basically is the type of girl I would not touch with a 10-foot pole at my school. I would never ever want to know a girl like Winter.

Overall I enjoyed the book but I felt as if it was a little TOO predictable. Then intro seemed a little long since the main focus of the book was about this blog that Winter created, but the idea was only introduced maybe 100 pages in. And I thought that Winter went a little overboard with the blog. I get that Sloane was really terrible, but did she really have to share all her secrets?
This book was really cute, although I am so tired of the evil popular girl/cool nerdy girl theme. It's almost as if last generations nerds have grown up and are trying to repaint nerds and loners as the only cool people out there. Anyone who is pretty must surely also be shallow and unlikable. Anyway, inspite of the overused theme, this is still a worthwhile read.
My mom is the one who reccomended that I read thius book when I was in the midst of a "I don't have anything to read!" crisis in which hardly ever happens. But still, I really liked it. If someone was trying to force me to reread this book (which I basically NEVER do) I would do it no questions asked. it was just that stinkin good! :)
The plotline was interesting, and the characters were well-developed. It's just the main character was so hopelessly stupid. Twice I slammed my bookmark into the book and threw it on the couch. She was so frustrating at times! >.<
I wouldn't really recommend this to anyone. Unless you like frustrating main characters, that is... Lol.

Alyson noel rock on girl. Even though this is not my favorite book by her this will be nothing I ever forget. This is like wanting something but it's not in your grasp. Sloane is not a great friend. If she would throw her out like a used napkin as soon as someone popular would take her in she's nuts. Wimter is a great friend.
