I was very honored when I received Forever Mine for review from Elizabeth Reyes. I'm always up for a good contemporary novel. As much as I wanted to love this book and give it a 5 star review, I couldn't. While it was an okay enough read, I did have some issues with it. I was very honored when I received Forever Mine for review from Elizabeth Reyes. I'm always up for a good contemporary novel. As much as I wanted to love this book and give it a 5 star review, I couldn't. While it was an okay enough read, I did have some issues with it. There are books that I can just sit there and read and not put down until I'm done, but unfortunately this wasn't one of those.

I don't think I've ever read a book that was solely focused on a romance without a big plot so it was a bit arduous to read at times. I need a good plot to keep me entertained. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge sucker for romance - I mean, who isn't - but Sarah and Angel's relationship just didn't grab me. They were cute together, but there was no friendship before love. It seemed like they just jumped right into a relationship and I felt it was more so about lust than love. It didn't feel realistic. To me, the great thing about a love story is the building of the relationship, where you read about them falling in love. All the cute little moments leading up to the romance and then the sex, not just jumping right into the sack together. As a reader I felt cheated out of the beginning stage where the romance blooms.

I could definitely see the appeal to Angel but he could also be quite pig-headed and possessive which were two things that drove me absolutely crazy about him. It irked me that he felt he could control Sarah's relationship with her best friend Sydney. When Angel finally forgave her for lying to him about her best friend being a guy, I really didn't enjoy how he basically made her talk to Sydney less. She shouldn't have to give up her friend, someone she's know her whole life and is practically her family. Even if Sydney is a guy, a friend is a friend no matter what gender and I don't think it was right of Angel to try and take that away from her.

All in all, I did enjoy Forever Mine at times and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good beach read. This book does contain a lot more sexual content than your average YA novel, so if that's something you're uncomfortable with I wouldn't recommend it to you. There is going to be a sequel, Always Been Mine, but I think Forever Mine wrapped up pretty well and could easily be a standalone novel. I'm sure other people will enjoy reading the sequels, but this is where the story ends for me.(less)

Angel, Sarah, and Sydney... A love triangle or one huge miscommunication? Although the readers know from the get go that miscommunication was the case, Angel had no idea. That left my heart hurting for him.

I loved this story! It was a great way to start of the Moreno Brothers series! A must read for everyone (and don't just stop with this novel because all of Elizabeth's novels are truly amazing)

This is probably one of the cutest books I've read in a long time. This is my first book by Elizabeth Reyes, but I've already started on the second book in this series & have bought the rest of them. This book brought back soooo many high-school memories (some good & some bad), and truly made me feel like I was friends with the characters in this book.

I am confused. I liked the book in bits and pieces.
It is light hearted romance novel. It's not bad but there is nothing breath-taking about it either.

It is so good that you'll want to find that special someone who'll make you feel loved and whom you'll love in return. Angel and Sarah's story will inspire everyone that true love is real and it can be found. It'll make you feel giddy and excited that you'll want to read it all over again.

Angel is the perfect epitome of campus heartthrob - a playboy who found his perfect match and became a one-woman man after meeting Sarah. He is my favorite among the Morenos. I have read this books weeks ago and every time I remember Angel, it still puts a dreamy smile on my face. I fell in love with him the moment he was introduced in the book.

I love Sarah. She's so unpretentious. She doesn't seem to notice how beautiful she really is. She doesn't want attention that's why she tries to be invisible. She always seem to look for a good attitude in an every person she meets. She doesn't dwell on their negative side. She always try to justify an individual if he/she acts badly.

What I don't like about this books is the fact that Angel Moreno doesn't accept the idea that a guy and a girl can be friends without malice. For the record, I have guy friends too. I just find it absurd that he finds the friendship thing unacceptable. A guy and a girl can have a just-friends relationship without crossing the border line.

This books tells how important communication is between a couple. A couple should avoid keeping things from each other. They should be open about whatever they feel.

Anyways, you've got to read this books so you can meet the Moreno brothers together with Romero and Eric. I promise you'll enjoy their company.(less)

Having read “Noah” and loved it, I decided to give the Moreno Brothers series a go, now I don’t go for soppy romances and the titles of this series looked ominous but seeing they were picking up some good reviews and having given other ominously titled books a go and loving them, thought I’d look past this.

So here we focus on the first of the Moreno family, Angel, who is the youngest of the three sons. He is in high school, has girls swooning over him and we are under no uncertain terms how gorgeous he is. He is very well described so he is easy to imagine. Sarah has come to live with her Aunt as her mother is locked up and starts the local high school with Cousin Valerie.

We have issues with Angel strongly believing that guys and girls cannot be friends and of course Sarah has a best friend back home called Sydney, which contrary to Angel’s belief, happens to be male. We also have a cheerleader named Dana who is a little bit of a trouble maker having “spent time” with Angel previously and a bit obsessive and we have a coach who is, frankly rather sinister.

Throw all this together and we have our story. I enjoyed this book and in parts couldn’t put it down, the story itself is strong, Sarah is naïve about this coach and it is believable, both because it is a position of trust and also because at the point in the book that he becomes more prominent, her and Angel are having issues and she is vulnerable she and also digs herself a mighty big hole over Sydney by never seeming to find the right moment to admit she is a he. Of course it all comes out in a dramatic way and I really felt the emotion that Elizabeth Reyes was trying to portray.

Also, back to this coach, I think it was done very well, I can only guess that the author has researched this as we are faced with the guys thinking he’s a “perve” and the girls thinking he’s harmless, he comes to Sarah’s aid, seems maybe a bit too friendly but as a reader, it could go either way until a little bit further on when you do start thinking “hmm” with the climax showing how he has manipulated the situation and his full intentions.

What I really liked though, having now read the entire series (currently Vincent and Rose are not released yet) is the way Elizabeth Reyes sets up the whole world of the Moreno’s. In this book, we are introduced to all the rest of the family, along with Angel’s best friends Eric and Romero. I finished this book, knowing Angel and Sarah and having a good base knowledge of the family. We are given glimpses into Angel’s brother Alex and Sarah’s cousin Valerie’s newly forming relationship, ready to then delve into Always been Mine, book two, focusing on them.

Such a beautiful cover. Too bad the story isn't as beautiful. I'm not even halfway done and already I can tell where the story is going.

Sorry, but withholding information about a male best friend from a boyfriend is not enough to hold this story together. I absolutely loved this book!

I really feel like i connected with all the characters in this book. I liked it the way Sarah was and felt the hardship she faced telling Angel about Syd. I also loved the way she did not want to become close to people but just couldn't help it, she was a really amazing character (she even has human flaws - like her mistake on the way she totally miss judged the sports teacher - made her easier to relate to more).

Reading the plot you can immediately associate it with the Perfect Chemistry novels by Simone Elkeles. Good Girl falls in love with Trouble Mexican boy. Yes, they do share this in common but they also could have not been more different. Angel – Main character of Forever Mine – is a Mexican boy that doesn’t know Spanish xD and he is a good guy, just a little bit of a Don Juan – he goes out with a few lotta girls – but when a girl with sad green eyes enters his life, everything changes. Meet Sarah, who just came to live to La Jolla in San Diego – I spend most of my time there :D!! – because of some problems her mother’s in, she’s determined not to get too attached to things because as soon as she can she goes back to Arizona to live with his Best Friend Sydney.

But obviously things never go as planned. She’s soon completely and hopelessly in Love with Angel Moreno. But still, there are things both have to work out and discover that it is not easy to come clean and also to forgive.

Angel and Sarah’s relationship goes really quick, too quick I’d say. I wasn’t buying it, but then they date more and more and more and some more and you just can’t help but thing they are PERFECT for each other. The story is predictable – you can tell how things are going just by the summary – but it still takes some twist and turns you just don’t see coming and how things unraveled is just beautiful.

But I really think that what makes this novel so strong and powerful is the support characters. They are all just so beautiful and unique that they all make a chain. You take one out, everything breaks. Eric, the voice of reason and – in Angel’s words – dumb. Romero, the one that always gets drunk and says stupid yet hilarious things – in Angel’s words – dumber. Alex, Moreno bother number 2, total flirt, hot ‘till the ends, sparks definitely fly. Sydney, Sarah’s BFF and her voice of reason, he’ll always have her back. Valerie, fearless and she’s part of Sarah’s straight. Sofia, she adds the spark and also becomes your best friend. and of course there's Sarah, she’s so much worth than what she gives credit to herself and Angel, whom is determined to show her her beauty and also he’s afraid of what he feel, but is still giving it all to Sarah; he can be sometimes possessive and goes into “macho” mode, but he learns to loosen up.

If you love Romance, some romance, a little bit of romance and some more romance, this is the book for you. I Loved it. I recommend it. I gush about it. I Loved it. :DD!

I really liked this book. Was a bit steamy but I hate it when books go on for 400 pages about whether or not to kiss - arrgghhh get on with it already! Not so this book.
I loved the characters - main and supporting.
Overall a good read and I'm happily into reading the second one - oh those boys are divine!

Hmmm... so Angel here doesn't believe that boys and girls can just be friends.. of course i don't believe that but i know that there are limitations for friends.. I did finish this book but I don't know why. Probably mainly because I hate to not finish a book.
I think the main problem is you didn't get that bit of the story where they fall in love over time and not just one night at a party hook up.
There was no tension and I think possibly the fact that there was no other story going on beyond their relationship emphasised the lack of chemistry for me.

If he can't handle the fact that she has a friend who is a guy, that's red flag number one. When Valerie was telling Sarah she should talk to Sydney less and Sarah was going along with it? That is downright ridiculous. This boy is basically her only friend in the world, practically her family. Boy or girl, I don't care. No one is going to tell me I should talk to my best friend less because I have a boyfriend.

The fact that Sarah lied about it for so long disgusted me as well. I know it hurt Sarah to have to lie, but all I could think was, "Girl, get a backbone, will you?"

It wasn't just that. The fact that he constantly had his hands all over her, acting like he owned her. It was scary. They're sitting in a restaurant and the poor girl can't eat anything without him rubbing his hands all over her. He found out that she had been with another guy ages before they met and he got all freaked out and jealous. That's not cute, that's not sweet, that's not romantic. It's scary and inappropriate. Before he even met her properly, some guy was messing with her and he threw him into a fence and roughed him up. I was all for Angel helping get the creep away from Sarah, but he took everything to extremes.

Angel basically made her talk to Sydney less in the end. How can someone claim they love you so much and then try to keep you away from your best friend? If someone loves you, they would never get in the way of a friendship that clearly means so much to you. And the fact that Sarah was okay with it? This is just a recipe for domestic violence in the future. He's only going to get more controlling, cut her off from all her friends and family. I cannot believe anyone liked this book. I told my younger sister not to read this because if people think this is the way a good boyfriend is supposed to act, I'm genuinely scared for them.

I'm not even going to get into the thing with the coach. Sarah was just plain stupid. It didn't add to the storyline or make it more interesting. It only served to show that Sarah is weak and needs a man to protect her because she's so useless. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this piece of crap to anyone. The writing was fine, what you'd expect for a young adult novel, but the storyline was horrible. Absolutely awful.(less)
