As many of my "real life" acquaintances would attest to, I'm not often given to profanity and obscenities. Given that fact, I was a little taken aback by how often I heard myself saying "WHAT THE FUCK??" "YOU'VE GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME!!" and "THIS IS FUCKING RIDICULOUS." throughout this book.

Thought this was a cute love story. Argus and his family have special powers that someone wants badly so kidnaps him and is holding him hostage . Argus is trying to teleport his spirit to one of his family members to get help but end up in the garden of a Dukes daughter Lorelei Sundun. This is the fourth installment of Ms Howell's Wherlocke series. This is a great series about a family with otherworldly abilities. This book can be read as a standalone novel but the first three are worth reading. I hope there will be many more storis from Ms Howell about the Wherlocke family. (less)

In If He's Dangerous, the hero, Sir Argus Wherlocke has been imprisoned and tortured. Argus and his family have special paranormal abilities and someone wants them. They think by torturing Argus that he can give them his gifts. As a last resort, Argus hopes to astral project himself to one of his family members in a desperate bid for rescue. But things go awry as he projects himself naked in front of the daughter of a Duke nearby!

Lorelei is unconventional and at first doesn't believe her eyes. The man before her is gorgeous but she must be hallucinating. But she soon convinces herself that Argus is a real person and needs aid. She quickly sends pleas to his relative for help via the mail. But fearing Argus's relative may not arrive in time to save him, she actively enlists the aid of her cousins. Soon Argus is free but in danger. Lorelei must try to keep him safe and hidden. But the mutual attraction between them is hard to resist. As they try to thwart the attempts of the kidnappers and speed up his recovery, love blooms.

This was a light hearted romp. Both characters are delightfully fun and engaging. I loved the rambunctious household that Argus soon finds himself in. Lorelei has a huge family that includes aunts and cousins and several sisters and brothers. Reading about them and their mischief antics was hilarious. I really liked the conspiring butler and how Lorelei takes charge and protects Argus. But the best part of the book was the seemingly muddled but very sharp Duke, Lorelei's father. Although it appears that the author has given him a love interest at the end, I would love for him to have his own romance! He completely charmed me. He appears bookish and unaware of what is happening around him, he always seem to have the upper hand and never looses his cool. I only wished the paranormal powers had been explored a bit more but otherwise this was a vastly enjoyable read.

This is a wonderful, light romance with a warm and often hilarious family that makes you want to be a part of it.

The beginning of this book sucked me right in! Lorelei Sundun is relaxing in her father's rose garden when all of a sudden, there is a naked man in the garden with her! He just appeared, poof! She figured too much sun could make a girl imagine anything, now couldn't it? But he was a real as could be. And along with being naked, he was in trouble.

Sir Argus Wherlocke had special abilities. His whole family did, actually, and someone had found out about those abilities. And that someone wanted to know how it was done. Two weeks of torture later, and they were no closer to figuring it out-so Argus used his newest ability, that of spirit walking. He didn't find his family, though, he found a beautiful red-haired miss who promised to help. But how could she?

I would say the first 75 pages or so are fantastic. After that it slows down a bit. Lorelei does, in fact rescue Sir Argus, but once he is rescued, the business of finding his family begins. So she hides him in the guest cottage on her father's lands. For like 2 weeks. And thinks no one will notice. And although the sparks are flying between Argus and Lorelei, I wanted it to progress a bit faster. We got a great look at Lorelei's daily life, and a great look at their personalities, but it felt more like a sweet romance, than the mysterious suspenseful read it started out as. It wasn't enough to have an intrigue plot off to the side-so much more could have been done with that. It would have been different if the beginning of the book hadn't started off so fast-paced and mysterious.

The only thing I didn't like, was that Argus and Lorelei talked many times about their "relationship" (Lorelei knew he was 'the one' but Argus felt Wherlock's couldn't marry) and I felt that Argus agreeing to a sexual relationship was not only out of character, but it made me really mad, as he had no plans on marrying her. That's the main reason this book wasn't a 4 for me.

But with that part aside, this is a very sweet romance, with a bit of the paranormal thrown in, and an intrigue plot thrown in as well. I enjoyed it, and I really liked the side characters, but I thought it was absolutely ridiculous that while Lorelei was being held hostage with a knife to her back, she and her father both magically spoke Gaelic all of a sudden so they had a "secret language" where she was able to share the villain's plan. Right.

I will definitely read the rest of this new trilogy, as I really liked the characters, but I will expect more of a sweet romance, than an exciting and intriguing suspense story.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. The paranormal aspects are more incidental than previous books with Howell relying on an sweet "I'm not good enough for her" romance and mild suspense. Some readers may find the sex-without-any-intention-of-marriage difficult - we know it'll happen eventually (the nature of a HEA Romance), but Argus goes in firmly believing he will not marry. Oh what a wonderful escape from my usual fair of heavy angst filled novels. This was a pure delight to read. Hannah Howell does some sort of spell with her writing that wraps you up and takes you for a exciting and vastly entertaining ride leaving you happier just cause you read her words. I have been waiting to read Argus book since I first met him in previous books. But I was very disappointed in him, and the story.

In his mind he was never going to marry Lorelei and still seduced her. She saved his life and is the virginal daughter of a Duke who took him and his family in.

So far ... it's cute... Being the first book that I'm reading of this series it is a fabulously introduced book and works well as a stand alone... giving enough detail that is needed for new readers and not over doing it for old ones... so far so good.. i'm a third in...

Of course, she is successful, but Argus’ captor is none too pleased to find out his prisoner with extremely valuable and unique abilities is gone. While Argus returns with Lorelei to her home to rest and heal, they realize it will only be a matter of time before this evil man tracks them down. Argus knows he must leave her in order to ensure her safety, but that is easier said then done. Mostly because they have a mutual attraction that seems to overwhelm them when they are alone together. She is the Duke’s daughter and Argus is certain he never wants to marry, so he truly is the last man she should ever be with yet she’s the one woman he cannot seem to live without.

I’ll be bluntly honest and say Hannah Howell is a hit and miss author for me. Some books I love, some books I don’t love. Fortunately for me, If He’s Dangerous was a Howell book that I absolutely loved. I loved the plot, the characters, the setting, the dialogue, and everything else within the pages of this novel. This novel picks up very quickly and never lets go. It was a somewhat light, yet wildly fascinating tale.

Lorelei was not the typical daughter of a duke. But that’s easy to understand when you meet her family, for her father and siblings are very eccentric. She was a very strong heroine and never accepted defeat which really made her the perfect match for her hero. When she was certain Argus was the man for her, she was not going to give up and asserted her position quiet firmly. She knew they belonged together and she was certain she could make him see that truth as well. I loved her vitality, spunk and that simple nature of being overwhelmingly hopeful. She was truly a breath of fresh air.

Argus was frustrating at times, but really he had to be in order to develop any drama between these two lead characters. He had strong opinions against marriage, but didn’t let that deter his seduction of the outspoken lady. He was an interesting character to see unfold. Mainly because he spent most of the book completely baffled by his feelings toward Lorelei and trying desperately to ignore them. In the end, all the frustrating moments were worth it, because he certainly redeemed himself and became the man she needed.

If He’s Dangerous is book four in the Wherlocke series and I would say it is easily a stand alone novel. Yet after reading this, I’m certainly going to make a point to add the previous installments of the series to my wish list! After being introduced to the other characters from the Wherlocke family, I know this is a series worth following! Howell blends an intriguing mix of historical and paranormal romance that you just will not want to end. The twists and turns were enjoyable, but it was the classic blend of this romantic time period with paranormal intrigue that made it so enchanting. If He’s Dangerous has it all with dazzling characters, passionate romance and a captivating story line. This is a book I highly recommend!

It has been awhile since I've read the previous books in this series and I found I couldn't really remember what the story of those characters were. I think I would have enjoyed this more having remembered because the characters re-appear. They can be read as stand alones but I always like to read a series in order.

I came by this book through the goodreads giveaway, and have to say that I did enjoy it. I'm not overly familiar with Hannah Howell's work, so it was a pleasant find-- one that I might have read had I won it. With that said, the book was a very easy, simple read. It didn't have the usual flare that I'm used too, but I do recommend it as a light read, that you might enjoy on a summer day!

As for the book itself, I really enjoyed it. One of the better books I've read in awhile, I could barely put it down. The characters were so fun especially Olympia. This was the first book from the Wherlocke series that I've read and after reading it I'd definately be interested in reading the others.

Enjoyable historical romance with a good attention grabber, an exciting ending and I like the caring for miscellaneous children in this series but the hero's stubbornness was a bit too disrespectful until the very end. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The abilities of the Wherlocke/Vaughn clan are intriguing. The characters, for all their differences, mesh well with one another and are well-written. I enjoyed the romance between Argus and Lorelei, as well as how the other characters work to try and help the two realize their destiny. There was a good balance of action, intrigue, and romance. I couldn't put the book down!

I do love the wherelockes & Vaughns! I can see as many books in this series as the Murrays... I like this one a whole lot more!

Some of the other books had more snarkie-ness than this one. It seemed more serious except for the Duke/Father who was quite laxed. It was not as funny as the others had been in parts, so It lost a star.

It was still a great book, and I love the series. I cannot wait for more.

I think of the books in this series, this one ranks as my favorite so far. The quirkiness of the duke and his family, thrown up against the Wherlocke/Vaughan clan is very entertaining to read about. The conflicts rise and ebb at a good pace so there's enough time for character development to take place.
