** WARNING: PROFANITY FOLLOWS **
As many of my "real life" acquaintances would attest to, I'm not often given to profanity and obscenities. Given that fact, I was a little taken aback by how often I heard myself saying "WHAT THE FUCK??" "YOU'VE GOT TO BE FUCKING KIDDING ME!!" and "THIS IS FUCKING RIDICULOUS." throughout this book.
This book was a lesson in "don't judge a book by its cover." The dude on the cover was hot; hence, when I saw this book at the library, I checked it out "blind" (i.e., w...more

This is a historical romance with major paranormal elements. It takes place in England in 1790. Sir Argus Wherlocke appears naked in the garden of Lorelei Sundun's family, then disappears before her eyes after speaking with her briefly. She uses her own talent of Finding to locate & rescue him. Someone wants to coopt the Wherlocke family talents, starting with Sir Argus, and he's willing to use torture. Both the Wherlockes and the related Vaughns have various talents of a paranormal sort. This book was an enjoyable read on a summer afternoon. It didn’t really pop or sizzle for me, but I also haven’t read the other three books in the series. When the two characters first meet, Argus is hiding behind a rosebush, buck naked. Instead of running like a prim and proper miss should, Lorelei is intrigued, and the adventure begins. The mystery as to why he appears in a garden is soon solved, yet the reason he was taken in the first pla...more

If He’s Dangerous is the fourth book in the Wherlock Series. The Wherlock’s are a family with many gifts and secrets and pasts they don’t wish to relive.
Where do I start??? Do I love the book? No. Do I like it? Yes. Something was just off for me. I think I expected Argus Wherlocke’s story to be….well something more. In the prior books he was such a strong character. I did not feel his strength in this novel. Yes, there were circumstances that would take away some of that strength, but still it j...more

Fun, whimsical and vastly entertaining. This is a light Regency to relax with on a long summer's day.
In If He's Dangerous, the hero, Sir Argus Wherlocke has been imprisoned and tortured. Argus and his family have special paranormal abilities and someone wants them. They think by torturing Argus that he can give them his gifts. As a last resort, Argus hopes to astral project himself to one of his family members in a desper...more

The beginning of this book sucked me right in! Lorelei Sundun is relaxing in her father's rose garden when all of a sudden, there is a naked man in the garden with her! He just appeared, poof! She figured too much sun could make a girl imagine anything, now couldn't it? But he was a real as could be. And along with being naked, he was in trouble.
Sir Argus Wherlocke had special abilities. His whole family did, actually, and someone had found out about...more

I thoroughly enjoyed it. The paranormal aspects are more incidental than previous books with Howell relying on an sweet "I'm not good enough for her" romance and mild suspense. Some readers may find the sex-without-any-intention-of-marriage difficult - we know it'll happen eventually (the nature of a HEA Romance), but Argus goes in firmly believing he will not marry. And there are some plot issues dealt with previously that are hand waved - Wherlocke extreme fertility, the awareness of danger to...more
Oh what a wonderful escape from my usual fair of heavy angst filled novels. This was a pure delight to read. Hannah Howell does some sort of spell with her writing that wraps you up and takes you for a exciting and vastly entertaining ride leaving you happier just cause you read her words. She is my go to for light historical romance sure of the great characters, brimming plots and fun to be had. This story did not disappoint, I loved every minute of Loelei and Argus's story. This world and the...more

I have been waiting to read Argus book since I first met him in previous books. But I was very disappointed in him, and the story.
In his mind he was never going to marry Lorelei and still seduced her. She saved his life and is the virginal daughter of a Duke who took him and his family in.
He was a rogue, made bad mistakes the entire book. Even at the end when he realizes he loves Lorelei and must marry her, he leaves for a month without explanations.

So far ... it's cute... Being the first book that I'm reading of this series it is a fabulously introduced book and works well as a stand alone... giving enough detail that is needed for new readers and not over doing it for old ones... so far so good.. i'm a third in...
It isn't everyday that a girl finds herself staring at a naked hunk in her father's rose garden...
The passion grows seemingly naturally... I like how it doesn't take over the story but peppers it ...

If He’s Dangerous by Hannah Howell is a delightful and satisfying historical romance with plenty of paranormal spice. Wickedly entertaining and fiercely romantic, this is certainly a novel worth reading.
Lady Lorelei Sundun, daughter of the Duke of Sundunmoor, is certain she has lost her sanity. Because she is quiet sure it is impossible for a man, a very handsome man, to be standing naked in her family’s rose garden. Yet there he is, asking for her help. It has been awhile since I've read the previous books in this series and I found I couldn't really remember what the story of those characters were. I think I would have enjoyed this more having remembered because the characters re-appear. They can be read as stand alones but I always like to read a series in order.
I enjoyed the characters in this book and I feel a little guilty giving only 3 stars (I actually considered only giving it 2), but I think the second half of the story just seemed to...more

I came by this book through the goodreads giveaway, and have to say that I did enjoy it. I'm not overly familiar with Hannah Howell's work, so it was a pleasant find-- one that I might have read had I won it. With that said, the book was a very easy, simple read. It didn't have the usual flare that I'm used too, but I do recommend it as a light read, that you might enjoy on a summer day!
First and foremost, THANKS to Kensington for the copy of this book I received from their giveaway...
As for the book itself, I really enjoyed it. One of the better books I've read in awhile, I could barely put it down. The characters were so fun especially Olympia. This was the first book from the Wherlocke series that I've read and after reading it I'd definately be interested in reading the others.

it's more like a 3.5 stars. i was excited to read argus' story and i enjoyed how it all played out. however, the biggest reason that i didn't give it a 4 is due to the inconsistencies between this story and the others...such as the age of darius and olwen, and juno's name being changed. just little things that irked me
Enjoyable historical romance with a good attention grabber, an exciting ending and I like the caring for miscellaneous children in this series but the hero's stubbornness was a bit too disrespectful until the very end. The spirit of Sir Argus appears in Lady Lorelei's garden to ask for her help in releasing him from captivity.
I'm not sure if there will be another book, but I do hope that Ms. Howell continues with this wonderful family. While If He's Dangerous is not my favorite novel in the series, I still recommend reading it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The abilities of the Wherlocke/Vaughn clan are intriguing. The characters, for all their differences, mesh well with one another and are well-written. I enjoyed the romance between Argus and Lorelei, as well as how the other characters work to try and help the two realize their destiny. There was a good balance of action, intrigue, and romance. I couldn't put the book down!

I do love the wherelockes & Vaughns! I can see as many books in this series as the Murrays... I like this one a whole lot more!
Some of the other books had more snarkie-ness than this one. It seemed more serious except for the Duke/Father who was quite laxed. It was not as funny as the others had been in parts, so It lost a star.
It was still a great book, and I love the series. I cannot wait for more.

Another enjoyable book in her Wherlocke series. Much laughter, enjoyable characters. Probably my favorite in this series (so far)! The serious stuff was suitably serious, but it was nice not to have an upset outsider, but one who took it in stride.
A continuation of the Wherlocke/Vaughn family stories. This story can be read alone but does make a better read if you have read at least some of the other books in this series. Argus is from the Wherlocke family. He has the ability to make people obey him. All of his family members have a history of having extraordinary talents/skills. Argus is kidnapped and is being tortured from someone who thinks Argus can teach him to have extraordinary skills too. Argus travels out of his body and appears...more
Lady Lorelai, the daughter of a duke, risks her reputation and her life to rescue Argus Wherlocke, who has been kidnapped by men trying to extract his gift.
I think of the books in this series, this one ranks as my favorite so far. The quirkiness of the duke and his family, thrown up against the Wherlocke/Vaughan clan is very entertaining to read about. The conflicts rise and ebb at a good pace so there's enough time for character development to take place.
