I thought that I was a mainly visual learner but after reading this book I realized I am actually auditory. I learn by talking about what I've read or writing about it. Otherwise I don't remember it or I will procrastinate on a project. I work well in groups or with a study partner. Anyhow, after 20 years of schooling I also realized that I have tried many learning styles and strategies and quite possibly have developed into a different style. I think I started off a globAl thinker but became an ...more

This book breaks it down so you understand why students "hate" school. The interesting thing though, is that students wouldn't hate school if teachers and parents would take the time to understand what is going through their child's head. I found this book interesting because it talked about environment and the impact it can have on a child's ability to learn. I had never given much thought to things like light, temperature, or snacking while learning and how it could impact how well kids learn. Some good insights came from this book.

Great insights. But it seems more geared toward teachers. I'd love more practical advice for parents, especially where teachers aren't accommodating to a child's unique learning needs.

Didn't actually finish the book, but still have it on my shelf. Contained some good information.

I love Tobias's books. It came at a perfect time when my daughter had a teacher who did not help her learn, squashed any enthusiasm my daughter had, and the teacher had a criticizing spirit.
