The Noisy Village series (well in this here case, the German language translation of Astrid Lindgren's original Swedish text, and where the hamlet is known as Bullerbü) was one of my absolute favourites when I was a little girl (I must have read all three books at least ten times, and that is a conservative estimate). At that age (from about age six to age nine or ten) I just felt and knew on a purely emotional and personal level that I absolutely adored the sweet and enchanting episodical nugge ...more

There is so much right with this book.

I'm so lucky as to share a lot of the memories in this book, I know how things feel and smell and so on. Even though there are 50 years between the time this book takes place and my childhood, not a lot seems to have changed.
I don't know what it's like to read this when you can't feel this immediate connection with your own childhood.

And the writing, even though it is, especially at the beginning, much more simple than other Lindgren books (which makes sense

it was a niiiiicee book :-) how could i forget the characters: lasse, bosse, lisa (they're brothers and sister), britta and anna (they're sisters) and olle, the one and only child (but on third book, if i'm not mistaken, olle's mama delivered a baby girl).

those six children lived in a little village in Sweden named 'BULLERBYN'. They went to the same school and very happy with their life. In summer they're playing outside, pretending themselves as hippies with the free-spirited style. In winter,

I have never owned these books, but for a time, one of the three books in this series was sitting on my bedside table when I was little. The library had them multiple times, of course) and one was always with me.

I don't know if it's a girl thing, but even back then I loved to escape to quieter, more peaceful times. These books are what a happy childhood should be and I cherish the memories of reading about it.

One of my all-time favorite chíldren's books - a real classic.
There is no real plot, no big action, just a sequence of childhood experiences in Sweden. But each of those little tales is so adorable and full of nostalgia that you simple wish you had been there yourself: Riding in the big slide in wintertime, selling cherries in summer, enjoying growing up in rural Sweden between animals and your best friends.
Often copies but never reached - thank you, Astrid Lindgren!

This is the book of my childhood. It was the first book that was read to me and the first real book I read myself.
As a child I re-read it every year. So I decided that 2014 is the year to read it for probably around the 10th time.
I just love everything about it!

This was the book for the challenges: a book with red on the cover, start and finish a series and book with pictures
It's also a re-read

One of my absolute favorites when I was a kid. I don't even know how many times I read it and I always wanted to move to Sweden while reading it.
