I'm the first to admit that science fiction has never been my favorite genre, but I wanted to give VIRUS ON ORBIS 1 a try. I have to say that I'm very glad I did. Besides having an interesting and entertaining story, the true beauty of the book, at least for me, is the fact that I never felt so overwhelmed with the new world the author created that I wanted to give up. There weren't a thousand crazy names I had to figure out how to pronounce, or a million-a...more

The Softwire: Virus on Orbis 1 revolves around an imaginative world of computers, fantasy creatures, kids banding together in crisis, and a boy struggling to find his purpose in life amid adversity. It includes themes of facing fears, importance of "family," kindness versus cruelty, self-reliance and the power of a positive attitude. What more can you ask for in a young adult reader?

Everyone!
The Softwire: Virus on Orbis 1 is a fantastic sci-fi book for all ages. Excellent for reluctant readers!
Johnny Turnbull, aka JT, and his little sister Ketheria never knew their parents. Years before they were born, their parents agreed to leave Earth to make a long trip through space to work on the far-off rings of Orbis. This one was a little too "hard sci-fi" for me to finish...it was okay, but the characters were not engaging enough for me to keep on reading it once stuff I *really* wanted to read came in at the library. Can't always win with browsing the shelves at random, i guess...

An interesting concept. Not my cup of tea, but lots of kids and teens at my library like it. I could easily see a computer becoming a babysitter for children in the future.

Faith is always right about these things. Why do I not listen to her more often? An excellent read, and a fresh breath of air in the hard science fiction genre.

Fantastic scifi book for young and old about the adventures of JT and friends as they arrive on Orbis with it's multitude of alien characters.
