This is a story about the authors childhood from 1939 -1956, her whole life revolved around different animals ,after her father came back from fighting in the war, they tried their hands at farming. I think this must have been the time when farming started to change and people realised there was a need for more intense food production , farming was sold to people as a get rich quick scheme, the welfare of animals were secondary.
