This novel flows yet spins on a dime, much like occurrences in a dream; somehow crazy but it all makes sense in the end. Part way through the book I picked up on the little image between sections and by the end realized how clever it was. The theme of Jekyll and Hyde seems to be endlessly versatile in revealing our natures, I particularly enjoyed how it was employed in this novel overlapped with method acting. Hmm. Bits of it I did love - the stuff about Edinburgh and actorly goings-on - but other bits just left me perplexed. The clever stuff took place too late in the day for me to really 'get it'. Maybe I needed to have read 'Jekyll and Hyde' first, or maybe there was just too much introspection happening in my own head to be bothered with someone else's self-obsession.
