Jazz, víno, mejdany a Francie. Bomba.

Vian has the ability to transform the impossible into a sureal veracity of natural aparent. Difficult to make out the best story out the bunch contained in this memorable collection of short stories. A must for restless minds

I started reading this book years ago, I was about 13 or 14 years old and my mom didnt wanted to buy it because of my age. Anyways I could read 3 or so stories and recently I went to the bookstore and I found it available.
It's great and spontaneous, I like the ambience and how easily you can read it. It's short but brilliant and really creative, and I dont know why but every story I pictured it as a play, I would love to see a well excecuted play with any of these stories, I could even particip

Vian has the talent to transform the worst into a joke. For me, "Le Loup-garou" is an attempt to exorcise the atrocious from human nature through laughter. I cannot say which of these stories is the most memorable - the man who cut his own head to see how heavy it was, the silent passenger who gets tortured on account of his silence in the train or the guy who sells his own sweat in labelled bottles. "le Loup-garou" is one of a kind!

All the other books I've read until now I loved. However this somehow wasn't the thing. As a collection of short stories it was not connected, though rather repetitive in characters and scenes.

Boris Vian was a French polymath: writer, poet, musician, singer, translator, critic, actor, inventor and engineer. He is best remembered for novels such as L’Écume des jours and L'Arrache-cœur (translated into English as Froth on the Daydream and Heartsnatcher, respectively). He is also known for highly controversial "criminal" fiction released under the pseudonym Vernon Sullivan and some of his ...more
