Bird paintings plus hilarious titles: The Mincing Mockingbird in book form. A superb gift choice for the birder in your life, unless that birder happens to be me, because I already have a copy, thanks to Tomio.

This is, by far, the strangest birding book you will ever come across. It is somehow a hybrid of bird appreciation, art book, and humor. Adrian has put together a collection of his best bird paintings and then accompanied them with witty, irreverent captions that will make you giggle out loud. The commentary alone is worth buying this book, but matched with the tenderly gorgeous paintings, you still get a magnificent art/coffee table book. It's an incredible combination of weirdness and beauty.

I actually saw this guy's prints before I knew about the book. His paintings are really incredible and capture much of what you could assume about bird personalities - flighty, curious, small brains. The book adds captions to his paintings, and turns what might be a colorful and whimsical image into a dark joke, as told by an intellectual bird.
Jillian
Beautiful and rife with dead-pan, black humor. In short, amazing.

Matt Adrian's lush acrylic paintings of birds range from the delightfully cute to the decidedly sinister. The distinctive titles of the paintings juxtapose the primal existence of birds with the often awkward folly of modern human existence.

His artwork is collected worldwide and has been featured in SUNSENT magazine, BUST magazine, COUNTRY LIVING magazine, the LOS ANGELES TIMES, the CHICAGO TRIBU
