Seth Hollis lives his passions online under the pseudonym "Lotus" and attracts ex-Navy SEAL Sahara Blue, who avidly follows the erotic tales of passionate submission Seth posts. While they forge a powerful connection, it's increasingly frustrating, because both men yearn for something real. Seth's writings have also attracted an unwanted and dangerous admirer, and when the...more

I am just such a huge fan of Jan Irving. Her books always hold such a special place in my heart, they are cute but always sexy, emotional with some angst and most of all her characters always feel like real people to me. The Mastering Toby series is exactly what I have come to expect from the author, where the first book in the series did nothing for me, the second book was all kinds of good. There is always something very worldly about her books, sex and kink mixed...more

Seth Hollis is a study in contradictions. His life has been shaped by his time in the foster care system and as a result he's shy and suffers from low self-esteem. He's young yet mature, a virgin with a highly erotic imagination and is by day a business owner and at night he's 'Lotus', a blogger who shares his secret fantasies of sexual submission. When he meets Sahara Blue online he's drawn to him and even goes so far as to find out where the other man lives even though he's...more

From the moment I opened the cover until I read the last word I was riveted. Jan has created another winner. A perfect sequel to "Mastering Toby." Sahara Blue is reading an erotic blog written by a mysterious blogger named Lotus. He wonders who this Lotus might be and if he would ever meet him. Little does he know that the man he encounters while running, Seth Hollis, is Lotus.

Seth is a insecure man who feels he can only express himself, his inner fantasies, though the character of Lotus. Unfor...more

Why I read it:
I received a review copy from the publisher.

Thinking of the main characters, awkward was the first word that came to mind when I started reading this novel. During the first third or so of the book Seth and Sahara seemed to be unable to act after their feelings. Their attempts to make contact and get closer were s...more

I very much enjoyed this story. In retrospect, I think I liked it so much, because I could completely relate to Seth. Seth may appear to be two people, but he's just two sides of the same coin. While some people may not think of this as a BDSM story, it has a very strong D/s component and Seth's needs and desires are at the core of it.

Sahara is a lovely character. Very limited background is provided, but then again, I have not read Mastering Toby. Who knows what awaits me there? Even with the li...more
I just finished up this sequel to Mastering Toby. Sahara Blue is such an interesting character. I feel a bit like Seth isn't a strong enough character for him (as far as his build-up and background), though I do like them together and think they fit well. I did feel like there was a lot of build-up to the reveal of Seth's big secret, but it sort of petered out as far as tension went.

The story felt a bit strained and cliched, like she wasn't sure where to take it or how to get it where she wanted...more
I was a little disappointed by this book. Having read 'Mastering Toby' (the first book in the series) before hand, I got the impression that SB was rushed. The plot seemed underdeveloped and the switches of perspective (towards the end of the book) were a bit confusing. Clearly in MT a lot of time had been spent researching varies aspects of the story, this did not seem to have happened in SB. That being said the characters in SB seemed well developed and independent from the last book.
This was hard for me to rate. I'd give it 3 1/2 stars (rounding up to 4). There were parts I loved and parts that made me go 'huh?'.

I loved the main characters and I did enjoy Seth's fantasies with Sahara...very hot!

Also, this is part of a series (Mastering Toby was the book before this one), but considering I haven't read the first book, this can be read as a stand-alone.

I liked this book a little better than the first book in the series, "Mastering Toby". Sahara Blue was an interesting character and I loved seeing his protective side come out. Seth's hot erotica was a wonderful starting point to their romance.

Jan Irving. There, that said it all. If she wrote it, it's undoubtedly brilliant.
This book? No exception. Quirky heros taking turns rescuing each other? Check. Hot and sexy romance? Check. Must have book? Check.
one of the cutest couple I ever read. the story was really interesting and the plot well written. lot of fun and hot sex too !
Some parts were a bit choppy to read but I loved the MC's and the kink was sexy
