In the eternal battle between good and evil, both angels and demons have "recruited" humans for their respective armies to tip the odds in their favor. A thousands-of-years-old prophecy claims that somehow, one of those chosen humans, a girl to be precise, gets stuck in between; being both a Martis (good guys) and a Valefar (bad guys) and being too dangerous for the one side and extremely important to the other, both end up hunting her.

Sure, the idea is not entirely new but overall I thought it...more

I read way too many young adult books. It comes from having a daughter at home that loves to read. I'm constantly getting handed books that I "gotta read!" Other times, I want to screen stuff and make sure it's age appropriate. Honestly, at times it drives me nuts - I don't have the same taste in books as your typical teen girl. But, Demon Kissed was a great read.

The book has great characters that are developed and fleshed out over the course of a tightly woven plot. I liked the strong heroine....more

I just want to say that I read this book in 16 hours. I had to stop reading in order to sleep and function. However, I would have kept reading if I was able to. I have read a lot of books about angels and demons and this one was very different. I absolutely loved this book. It will definitely be one of the greats. The twists in the story kept me hooked from the first pages. I would highly recommend this book to everyone who is thinking about reading it. I very rarely review books but, this one d...more

I was sucked into this book as soon as I read the first few pages. The amount of detail about the setting and the characters is amazing as well as the length of imagination in this book. There's enough romance in the story to keep you satisfied...even if it is kind of challenging for it to happen. I don't really like books with sloppy kisses and "I love you"s on every page. I can't really think of any other word for it other than phenomenal. H.M. Ward deserves a freaking award to rival all award...more

This book has to be on my top 10 book series. It takes place in a modern time where, Ivy Taylor; our badass main character, lives with her mom. She was told her older sister was killed in a car accident, and is quick to realize that it is not the only lie shes's ever been told. When she is attacked by a Valefar, she is thrust in a world she never new existed. This "new world" Is in a turmoil war with the Valefar on one side and the Martis on the other, and she is the only one that can stop it. A...more

It was awesome. One of the best books I have read in a while. I love the Twilight and H.O.N. series', but I was starting to get a little burnt out on vampires. The Angels and Demons were a nice change of pace for me. I can't wait for the second one to be released. This book truly is a 'Good Read'.

Demon Kissed grabbed my attention from not just the very first page, but from the very first line. There was no reading a few chapters into it to see if it got interesting or not, like so many other boo...more

Dark and intense. Those are the words that I would come up with in order to describe this amazing book. The story started out a little..ehhhh...not that it was boring. It just felt a little jumbled, but as the story progressed the plot smoothed out and became more easy to follow.

Ivy was okay. She wasn't weak or overly dependent, and she wasn't a big whiner, which is a plus. She had a few dumb moments, but it was easy to get caught up in whatever she was feeling or going through.

I loved both Co...more

This book was not what I expected. From the first page to the last it threw me in different directions, constantly bindsiding me and taking me on a rollercoaster of emotions along with the main character. Everything from the thrilling story, to the chracters that I loved, to the writing itself, came together to make Demon Kissed an amazing read.

When I started reading Demon Kissed, I was skeptical because the book did not waste any time - it immidiately dumped you into...more

I can't do it, I can't finish this book. It beats me.

40 more pages and I would've finished it, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. It's not a horrible story, the characters weren't bad, but the writing style was filled with little gaps, for instance you are reading a confrontation between two chatacters who were in a room together, one of them said someting, and then the heroine is reflecting on it, you don't get to know how your heroine left the room, it's bam! suddenly shes walking out, no c...more

First I have to say I really liked this book but I have a question. Does anybody else have versions with red paragraphs? Did I miss some hidden meaning? It was distracting anyways.

So, I really liked the authors style. I like books written in the main chaaracters perspective because I feel like I get to know them so much better that way. It had a few moments where it was a little hard to keep up with, but I didn't mind at all.

The story was unique, and I like stories that are different from the no...more

I was only 70 pages in when I relized I had more than half the book to go. I had to force myself to keep reading. Stuff was going on, but it seemed to drag. All of the important plot points didn't seem that important, it was like "oh, well, yeah...K, whatever", nothing was emotional: angel blood-cool, prophecy- okay, immortal- how am I going to hide that when I'm 80, going to hell- send you a postcard. I know it was supposed to seem like she was taking everything in stride, like she finally foun...more

Demon Kissed I am happy to say was a really good read, much much better then I thought it would be, in fact it is so good I am wondering why it is not a huge hit in the YA genre. The story was well crafted, the characters were well thought out and held my attention and the plot, why not the most orgional, was very creative. If you like paranoral YA books, and huge amount of girls/women today do I would tell you to enjoy this read because I am looking forward to the sequel and will definatly be p...more

Interesting start...girl is held down while a guy she was dating tries to steal her soul. From there, her life changes drastically and everyone she thought she could trust she can't then she can again...a lot of twists that kept me engaged. What I liked most about the book is that you didn't think "oh my God, that was dumb...why would she do that?". More often than not, it was unexpected how things twisted around. Innocent choices that go bad or NOT. Her best friend was also her enemy and the le...more

Demon kissed was really good. It had me so engrossed in the story, I could not put it down.

Ivy Taylor is attacked by what she thought was her boyfriend. He is a demon who forces a kiss from her with the intention of stealing her soul. She soon finds out that she is a Martis, who is chosen by the Angels to defeat the Valefar, demon slaves. She is also part Valefar. Everyone she thought she knew is not who they seem and she learns much to her dismay and disbelief that she is the key to a prophec...more

A solid start to the Demon Kissed Trilogy. It was alright, nothing to write home about, but considering my history with Demon/Angel books I am surprised I was able to finish it.

Ivy is in High School dealing with the aftermath of her sisters death a year ago, struggling through classes and spending her nights and weekends sneaking out at night and the weekends to make out with any guy that will have her. Unfortunately this only leads to trouble when Jake, her current boyfriend, Demon Kisses her -...more

I just completed reading the millenium trilogy thriller mystery series by Stieg Larson & was searching for book of some different genre when I came across this book.
I didn't have huge expectations from this one (I always keep them low before starting the book so that there is less disappointment in the end!!) but surprisingly the book outlived my expectations by a huge margin. I really liked this book. It was great read and I completed it in two sittings, for I had to sleep in between:)

I found Demon Kissed on my kindle when I was searching for new books to read and I am so glad that I did! This was a completely unique story that captivates you from the very first chapter. The descriptions in this book alone will have you reading non-stop and the characters are amazing as well!

The book starts out with Ivy being on a date with her boyfriend Jake, but Jake isn't want he seems. He is Valefar, a demon who steals the souls of the living. When he kisses Ivy to take her soul and kill...more

Stunning

Like seriously. Wow I have to tell you all, I loved this book. I really wasn't thinking too much into reading it, then I re-read the summary and I was like okay, I will read it. I now my mind is like "What the heck, how did that turn out to be so utterly amazing?!" I was seriously hooked from page one. And I am not lying one bit, maybe even the first paragraph had me by my teeth.

First off, the very idea for the book. A demon kiss. Like, h...more

I must say that I had this book in my "to-read" self for a few months, but suddenly, I just started reading it.
It took me only two evenings because it hook me from the beginning.I couldn´t put it down and I was looking for a single minute to go back to my kindle and see what was going on in the story.
I can say that the author, H.M. Ward, has been able to surprise me in every line that I was reading, nothing was as I expected, it was much better!
I love the plot and the way it takes place. The aut...more

Stop.Collaborate and Listen.Do I have your attention now?Read this book.Seriously.Its full of Awesomesauce. Ivy is attacked one night and drawn into an age old war between the martis,Heavenly creatures and Valefar Demon creatures.Ivy is both.Ivy is also the answer to a prophecy.Who is her friend and who is her enemy? Its almost to much for a 17 year old to deal with but Ivy handles it pretty darn well.

What can I say other then I read Demon Kisses and have been engulfed in the series.Im currentl...more

First Line: "Let me go, Jake. You're not like this." Desperation was in my voice.

One of the best ebooks I have ever read! Demon Kissed takes the cake out of all the other ebooks I've read. Inspiring characters, a great plot, and lots of heart breaking twists! Oh, and don't forget the two hott guys.

So I just found Demon Kissed on Amazon and forced my boyfriend to buy me it. And I found gold! I read it in practically one day, and read half of it in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. I was sucked...more

An up and down read -- the storyline sucked me RIGHT in and got my emotions all in a tangle. It was a rollercoaster ride and left me just drained. The down part would be...hard to describe. It's like a movie with continuity issues. It jarred me out of my absorption b/c I was like "wait, where did that come from? I thought " And sometimes the character relationships were just NOT fleshed out enough for me. Everything was great for Ivy and Collin, but I never quite got how Jenna Marie fit in -- we...more

I made it through the book, which I didn't think I would actually do shortly after I started it. I've definitely read books in this genre that are more interesting (and believable) to me. Of course, a book being about demons isn't going to be based on actual events- I am well aware of this fact- however, the story needs to progress in a somewhat believable manner for me to buy the premise. **Spoilers ahead*** I found myself rolling my eyes as every character in the book turned out to be either a...more

I would have given this a 5 star but really it was 4.5 star. The end was so not what I was expecting. I was so mad at how it ended. Is there a part two. I want to know what happens to Ivy and da*@ Collin. Whyyyyyyyyyy? I normally don't read books about demons and stuff but this was a book about a secret war between people who had angel blood and people who had demon blood. So, you all can guess, that what happens next the half angel half demon girl falls in love with the boy who is a demon.....B...more

WOW.. Just wow!! what to say really? words fail me. After reading this book, i keep replaying scene after scene from many of different pages within. This book is so raw, heart-wrenching, and would leave you utterly stunned. I love it. I love every single page inside. I adore the characters, and it has a twisted plot that sometimes makes me wanna hurl and read it fast, so i could find out what's next. But really, at the same time, I also want to read it slow and just savor every words, details, a...more

Though the premise was a bit interesting, this is a pretty average YA paranormal romance, in my opinion.

I'd been originally intrigued by the mythology, as it seemed a bit different from other YA, but the only parts of it we really began to explore were some of the powers that our protagonist, Ivy, has - and she has many of them, which enforce almost a Mary-Sue stereotype.

I felt like Ivy was the kind of character you could slip into - a fairly relatable character but just a bit too undefined. Th...more

One word: mindf***. It was like mental porn.
It's not that the plot was unpredictable, because you could accurately guess about 50 pages ahead at any given point, but rather that you get so engrossed in what's happening at that very second that you feel like the plot twist came out of a hidden alleyway and blindsided you like an NFL linebacker. Then you're left staring at the page asking yourself how you forgot that was going to happen at some point or an...more
