Much on the horror of postwar Greek life from a very Left point of view that one did not hear from Taki. But Herzfeld is hobbled by his lack of interest in considering what his Communist friend would have done to their opponents had they won rather than lost, by a tendency to reproduce the speech patterns of his hero Nenedakis which might be amusing if rendered as an oral imitation, but is tedious in retelling - repeating his every "well" and "so-to-speak" - and the growing sense one has, as one ...more
