Nearly everyone loves the circus and my initial reaction upon a first glance at this book was that everyone will love it. Written for children between the ages of 4 and 8, it is an excellent story with several clearly defined lessons.

G.W. Frog and the Circus Lion begins with the sound of construction echoing through the confines of Frog Holler and Misty Meadow. At first I thought it was going to be another environmental story about how man is tearing up the forests and countryside for his own s...more

I dismissed this book at first glance. It's been sitting by my desk for several weeks and I never took the time to read through it. The pictures are cute but there is a lot of text on the pages and I didn't think my daughter would like it. Another reminder to me to not judging a book before reading it.

Larry Lion is no longer the fierce lion he once was. He's lost all his teeth is no longer a fearsome sight. G.W. Frog and Gerald Grasshopper decide to help. This is a story that teaches that helpin...more

When I first got this book, I wondered if it might be too long to hold my childrens interest, or if there was too much text for each page. Apparently I was wrong. My 3 and 4yr old loved it. The pictures are very bright and colorful, while the story continually moves holding their interest. My 4 yr old told me his favorite part of the story is the wooden teeth, he thought they were "awesome!" They have also, repeatedly, looked through the book because they enjoy the pictures so much. It was well...more

All the animals from Frog Holler are excited. The circus has come to town. G. W. Frog and Gerald the Grasshopper are walking around the circus when they come upon Larry the Lion. He is very sad. He no longer leads the parade because as he has gotten older he has lost all of his teeth. Now he sits alone in his cage. G.W. Frog gets his friends from Frog Holler together. They create a set of false teeth for Larry so that he can once again lead the parade. Very cute book full of great lessons on fri...more

G.W. Frog and the Circus Lion is a sweet and fun story about an elderly lion that is concerned about losing his teeth. When he confesses this to his friends, they decide to remedy the situation.

I really enjoyed G.W. Frog and the Circus Lion more than I thought I was going to. At first, it looked like a lot of text and some of the illustrations didn't look finished, so I was unsure how my young brother-in-law was going to like it. I waited for him to come over to my house, and for bedtime, I lay...more

I liked the thoughts put into the characters and the scenery. G.W. Frog wanting to help out fellow animals even those passing through.

Although I find my inner child questioning many things in the story. Like is bee wax really made that way? Would that hurt the lion in the end of the story? And if you have to have a moral of the story explained at the end because it does not match the story does that really matter to the story?

I think as a child I would be asking many questions with this book or...more

This was a really cute book and my child enjoyed the story and the wonderfully colored pictures in the book.... We also had fun counting all the animals on the first page and then looking on the last page where the answers were to see if we got them all correct.

I love childrens books that have a lesson in the story for them to learn. This one was all about coming together and helping an old lion. There were a few run on sentences and a few big words but for the most part it was enjoyable and I k...more
