I like the one fanged vampire hook!!! With a descriptive writing style, Scott Prussing delivers a refreshing spin on vampire reads.

Leesa Nyland is a young and naive college student looking for her brother after he leaves her notice he is leaving and not to come look for him.

Despite her brother's request, Leesa sets out on a journey to find her brother, only to come face to face with entities she does not believe in or even know they exist. One valkaane and one vampire, loving one and needing so...more

The beginning of the story was intriguing: a one fanged vampire!

The one fanged vampire phenomenon was a great way to catch a paranormal reader’s attention. I mean, who gets bitten by a one fanged vampire? It’s unusual, not unheard of, and definitely not an angle that is used very often in vampire stories so it gives off the impression of some originality. A disabled vampire seems most certainly on the right side of originality…

But, then the rest of the story needs to display the same kind of cr...more

Review:

Everyone knows I love a good vampire book. The Blue Fire Saga by Scott Prussing promises something new and original. It keeps this promise.

Leesa Nyland is far from your average heroine. Despite being born with a physical handicap, she is both unassumingly beautiful and independent. She decides to attend her brother’s university in New England, shortly after he mysteriously disappears. Her family had fled from Connecticut to California when s...more

When I saw the the authors name it took me a while to process it, in my mind I kept saying "SCOTT, SCOTT". Hmm? Did I every read a PNR written by a man before, especially one about vampires? No, I don't believe so. The synopsis sounded very interesting so I decided to give it a try and I was glad I did. I really enjoyed it. I wasn't sure if Prussing would write a paranormal romance the way I like it and he sure could weave a good paranormal romance, i'm kind of a sucker for the 'consumed with ea...more

It was okay. It was slow in some parts and a little TOO descriptive in others. The first thought in my head during one part was... "This isnt some Twilight wannabe, is it?" The stories kinda paralleled for a bit there.

Pretty and shy girl goes to school, meets a handsome auburn haired stranger, they feel an instant and undeniable attraction and pull to each other...

It does make fun of Twilight for a bit there, but mostly in just a couple paragraphs.

To tell you the truth, it was kinda difficult...more

‘Breathless’, by Scott Prussing is a fantastic take on the paranormal, romance genre. With Leesa Nyland’s fasciation regarding one-fanged vampires – all started by her mother’s claim that she was bitten by one - this initially made me feel a little bit dubious, but it all paid off! I found this book to be intriguing, both full of mystery and suspense. With the disappearance of Leesa’s older brother, she finds that her belief system is put to the ultimate test; all of these thought-to-be-myths ul...more

I have a few problems concerning this book. It is not that I did not like the plot. In fact, I think that the plot is really unique and quite interesting. There were twists and turns that I never saw coming in this book. The plot and story deserve 5 stars all by itself, but the problems that I encounter in this book pegs it down to two stars making it a series that I will never finish. I will read different books by this author, if I think it is interesting, but I will never finish this series....more

College freshman Leesa Nyland has been fascinated by vampires since she was a small child. That's when her mother began acting strangely, saying that the sunlight hurt her skin because she had been bitten by a one-fanged vampire.
This doesn't mean Leesa believes in them. Nor does she believe in blue fire, people living for centuries, or kisses that can kill. But when her brother disappears, she's forced to consider these and more. She knows her new boyfriend, Rave, likes her a lot, but why won't...more

I was going thru some of the books I had downloaded and realized I had downloaded this months ago and thinking to myself what an idiot I hadn’t started reading it sooner. I fell instantly in love with this book. What had I been missing? The story starts out as Judy Nyland being pregnant and coming out of the woods to her sister with blood on her neck from a bite from a one fang vampire. As time went on, Leesa has been born and has heard her mother’s story many times and now seems to show signs o...more

At first, Breathless by Scott Prussing seemed to be like any other book in the YA Supernatural/Romance Genre and you cannot help but compare it to Twilight because of the vampire reference. But after reading the first chapters, it was clear that it was far beyond what we have come to expect from this genre.

This inexpectation makes Breathless a breath of fresh air and firmly stands on its own. Prussing presents an original and thrilling twist to vampire tales. He brings in a new kind of vampire t...more

Reveiw of Breathless By Scott Prussing
This book was great! Very good for young adults, my age rating for this book would be 14+.
When I first starting reading the story line was kind of slow, but in a good way. It gave you a chance to get to know the charactors in detail, detail that is very important to the story. This book introcuces the readers to 2 new types of ficional beings. It was a nice change from everything being Vampires and werewolves, but there are still vamps in this book!
Leesa has...more

Two and a half to three stars.

It was okay - enough to keep me interested but there are issues...

Interesting concept of Volkaanes - vampire hunters raised in communes with an aversion to all forms of technology. I'm not fond of their methods for destroying vampires, that is to give them the kiss of death so to speak, burning them from the inside out; all I can think of when Rave and Leesa kiss is, "he kisses her with that mouth?" - this concept together with the visual image I get is a bit creepy...more

WOW JUST WOW! This book was an awesome story about love sacrifice and extremes people are willing to go to for their family. Leesa Nyland without knowing it was thrown into the world of vampires when she was born, her mother bitten by a rare and shunned vampire called a grafhym. Leesa attends a college in Connecticut a complete 360 degree difference from her home in San Diego, CA. But what and who she will run into at this school is way more than she bargained for and she falls completely head o...more

This book is about Leesa and her journey to find out what happened to her brother, Bradley. It start out by telling the story of when her mother, Judy, was bitten by a “one-fanged vampire” while visiting her sister in Connecticut and pregnant with Leesa. After that, Judy became ill to the extent that she wouldn’t go in the sunlight because it would burn her skin. Judy’s husband eventually left her and the family. The story really starts out when Leesa is going to start college at Weston College...more

A couple of missed words here and there, but otherwise, very well written. A slightly different take on vampires and I loved the references to other stories like Bram Stoker's Dracula and Twilight because we do truly think of those as we read books about vampires, right?

Leesa is an extremely down to Earth girl who was raised by a mother who was bitten by a one-fanged vampire while pregnant with Leesa....yep, exactly what I said "HUH?". As a result, her mom slowly retreated into herself, her dad...more
Mad about
Leesa's off to College and what should be and exciting and scary time is tinged in sadness as she's heading to the College where her brother attended...and disappeared.

All she's got is an email, a name and some far fetched myths to go on.

She'll do anything to save Bradley but with so little to go on it's not a quick process and she is still in College. Friends are made and new things experienced , a complete first for Leesa.

This is definitely some of the better Twilight fan fiction written and a...more

I didn't have anything to read but this one, so I decided to give it a try. I loved it! I always like vampire books and I'm a sucker for romance, and well this book has it all. The whole one fanged vampire angle was really great! The whole mystery about the one fanged vampire and the mother of Leesa was killing me. The book is about Leesa, I liked her immidiately! She's kind of naive and shy but I liked that about her. She's not your average heroine, so that makes this book also stand out. She m...more

Breathless with leave you breathless and wanting more.

I do see a few things that are like in the Twilight Sage. However The Blue Fire Saga brings it to a whole new level. I love The Blue Fire Saga kept me more into the book and wanting more than Twilight ever did... I only like the Twilight movies for Jacob.

Leesa has a secret about her mom and really can't tell anyone without them thinking she may be crazy. However when she meets Rave he has a few secrets of his own which he can't bring himself...more

Scott PrussingHi y'all Anne here I've just finished reading Breathless, I enjoyed this book. The first few chapters give you a well detailed view and introduction to all the characters that will play a main role in the book. The characters are beautifully flawed like real people they don't project a perfect life or life style. They truly are realistic with their struggles in life with a paranormal twist tossed in..

I found this to be an interesting read. I have read some mixed reviews, but I do not listen to what other people say; never have. I am uniquely my own, and a bit crazy. ;)
The biggest thing I can see with reviews is that ...people seem to put this with "Twilight". They say it's too much like it, a replica, etc. I do not see it that way at all. It seems to have a feel of its own, along with new elements. A werewolf did not pop up, lol. I also like the factor that th...more

This is a very popular genre right now. I don't enjoy the romance of restraint, having to hold back on the physical because of whatever. That works for writing about kids in high school but the protagonist was in college. I wanted to give this 3 stars but that would be a personal judgement and not a true expression of the quality of the book. The Twilight references did get a little old but she was in a college course about vampires so most were understandable and appropriately placed.

Now that t...more

I found Breathless by Scott Prussing to be very entertaining. According to Rene Fountain, “Breathless breathes new life into the vampire genre.” I didn’t believe it possible with all the vampire novels that have been published over the last few years. But you know what? Rene Fountain was right!

I enjoyed Prussing’s character development and his descriptive style. You got a great sense of who and what the characters were all about without being bogged down by over description. I found myself tota...more

Of course I have heard of Twilight - who hasn't? - but young adult vampire themes are not my "thing." I downloaded "Breathless" without reading what it was about and was surprised to discover the theme.Other reviewers and the synopsis have reiterated the storyline, so I won't repeat it.

I found it interesting after I got into it. There were problems with the writing - too much trivial detail for one thing and at one stage I almost discarded it - but because I was curious to see what the author ca...more

I got this book from Amazon when it was listed for free. I wasn't sure what to expect, I mean who ever heard of a one-fanged vampire? And people who live for centuries that have blue fire and whose kisses can kill? That is what drew my attention, I had to know more about these deadly kisses.

Surely vampires are just fiction, just the imagination of some writer, but what do you do when your whole life has been turned upside down because your mom believes that she was bitten by a one-fanged vampire...more

At times I felt slightly disconnected from the characters. I thought their actions were unrealistic for the situation they were in. Overall, I thought it was a knockoff from Twilight, like most vampire stories are now, but that is what the author claims in the following info from the book itself. It was good, just not awesome. It was fun enough to read the series. I would't let my teen daughter read it, just because of the roomate comments, and their behavior. Ther was only comments from her roo...more

Ok this book was a little difficult for me. I had a hard time getting through it and the things that bothered me may not bother you. With that being said here’s what I have to say about this book.

I liked the idea behind it and the writing wasn’t bad, just a little too descriptive for me from time to time.

I have no problem with flawed Hero’s and Heroine’s; hell Zadist was may fav from BDB, but the constant description of Leesa limping was a little over kill for me, I get that she has a b...more
