Something I like for what it is rather than how its written. If I hadn't known what it was going in, I know I wouldn't have made it through the first story, but this is the pulpy science fiction I wanted.

I had forgotten how much I loved S&S before starting to read Brackett this week. Another terrific John Stark novel from Brackett, I've been on a Sword and Sorcery bender this past week and this story stands up to her others quite well, I particular liked the siege and the lead up to the battle.

Found this one on feedbooks, and man I read right through it. Engaging pulp adventure. Not particularly innovative, but a fun way to spend a few hours.

Several of these early efforts were read by Henry Kuttner, who critiqued her stories and introduced her to the SF personalitie ...more
