Nyx hates Zombies. Seriously. Hates. Zombies. Ever since she was a youngling, she's been haunted by them. And even though she's a big girl now—a half-human, half-Drow private eye, to be precise—Nyx bristles at the mere thought of the walking dead.

Meanwhile, the corpses of humans and paranorms alike are turning up all over New York City. Now it's up to Nyx to find out who—o...more

After a disappointing third book, Zombies Sold Separately was much more on track with the first two books. First and foremost, there was actual character development. Not a great amount, but still progress. Second, This book wasn't completely Nyx-centric. Although Olivia still had a minor role, it was reasonably explained. Plus, new fun characters with great potential have emerged. Finally, Nyx wasn't as extreme flip-floppy and overly emotional as she came across in book 3.

"Zombies Sold Separately" is the fourth book in the Night Trackers series. This series is like crack for me. It has stereotypical characters, stiff dialogue, and other writing quirks that I find annoying (more below), and I yet I keep coming back.

When the book opens, Nyx, a half-Drow/half-human Night Tracker, is having bad dreams about a formless evil. Shortly afterward, Nyx and her team are called to the site of a grisly multiple homicide. The bodies have been ripped apart and chewed on by som...more

Nyx abhors zombies. After witnessing her brother’s death, she can’t have any dealings with them in any shape or form. When a series of suspicious murders start turning up in New York that point to vampires, Nyx and her team of Trackers believe that another, more devi...more

Cheyenne McCray's Zombies Sold Separately was absolutely the COOLEST Night Tracker Novel ever!! I've been excited about it ever since I heard the title, since as we all know from book 1, that Nyx HATES Zombies! So a book with her facing her most hated Paranorm how can it not be cool?!

There's even a new duo of characters being added to Nyx's team! There's never a shortage of great characters in these novels, which is another thing I love about them. We now have Penrod, a member of the fae and Col...more

This time Nyx, the badass half human/half Drow, blue-haired purple skinned (once she shifts) night tracker, is battling Zombies. They are led by a demonic sorcerer, Lord Armory, who wants to take over Earth by stealing the essence (aka souls) of the humans and replacing them with souls of his disciples. Nyx and her unit, which include new trackers, the yummy Colin, a dragon shifter, and Penrod, a sprite and younger brother of Negel, from the last book, are taken by surprise when high powered inf...more

Nyx is back in ZOMBIES SOLD SEPARATELY and is still landing herself in rough situations. We find out that Nyx had a horrible childhood experience that she completely blanked her mind of because it was so traumatic. She has to face the fear of the event and help solve the new zombie situation. As usual with the Night Tracker novels we get plenty of action and bad guy drama. Nyx has some issues with her personal relationships as well as some of h...more

I couldn't resist the title on this one, and I'll admit it was quite engaging. Nyx is a half dark elf, half human, so she changes at sunset and changes back in the morning--and she absolutely HATES zombies, who are now invading her earthworld NYC. She, with the other Trackers (supernaturals who track criminal supernaturals) must find where these monsters originate--and stop them--to save the world. A fun read, with little depth of plot or characters, but with a fun twist on the fantasy paranorma...more

I've followed the series VERY closely and adore it. I find myself meshing with all the characters, seeing thing from their points of view. However in this one book I had some serious reservations about the relationship with Nyx & Adam. Some of the things that occurred in the book between them were WAY too quick. Relationships don't do that, especially being emotionally involved aka being in love with the person. It made me feel really phony reading it and it bothered me greatly. Other than t...more

Hmmm......although I've enjoyed the previous Nyx books, I wasn't really sure about this one.

For starters, Adam decides that there's too much different between him and Nyx, so he backs away. In the previous 3 books, I've admired him for his resolute support of Nyx, but this one just killed everything.

The most difficult thing about this book was the fact that Nyx had a horror of 'zombies' from her childhood, and yet she agrees to have her 'essence' transferred......

I suppose a redeeming feature is...more

I really enjoyed this series because of it's detective style and interesting characters. I found Nyx humorous and enjoyable. Now all of the characters are established, and they are not really progressing in any way I care about. Nyx has typical relationship issues and concerns and I found myself skipping over the lovey interactions between her and her man. There is nothing there I care about reading. Some may enjoy the banter between main characters that are in a relationship, but to me it's a b...more

Zombies Sold Separately is the fourth installment in the Night Tracker series written by Cheyenne McCray. It features Nyx Ciar, who is a half human, and half Drow (or elf) princess. She is also a night tracker and private investigator who works alongside her partner Olivia Santos at Paranormal Crimes Private Investigations.

Olivia is a spunky former SWAT team member who always wears different T-Shirts that say things like “I Have...more

Decent story, and I will probably read another in the series because I liked the world McCray created, but there was a lot lacking. Reading this was like eating cotton candy; it tasted good, but evaporated from the tongue and lacked substance. Everything was too pat. There was no reals sense of danger in the book. Everything comes too easy for the characters and it was as if McCray was telling the story to skittish middle school children who would be stressed out if there was any conflict that w...more

This has been an enjoyable series to read and this newest installment didn't disappoint. I like the fact the antagonists change from book to book so it doesn't feel as if the storyline drags out as in other series I've read. While the reader knew the relationship with Adam would be difficult to sustain within this storyline, I can't say I like the way it was handled here. But all the same, I'm now anxious to see where the new romantic aspect of the story goes.

By far the best book in the series so far and I absolutely hate zombies! Well the Night Trackers have total chaos on their hands - zombies have infiltrated NYC and are just killing away. Turns out they aren't your average everyday zombie but something from another world and governed by Amory, an evil sorcerer without compare. Amory is set on world domination and has set an ambitious plan into motion and it seems to be working. The Night Trackers are a step behind but with help from an unlikely s...more

I'm not sure why I keep reading this series except that I find the plots interesting. I've never cared that much about any of the characters or what happens to them and I always wind up wishing that the books were about a hundred pages shorter.

This was another great book in this series. I really love Nyx, I think she is a strong character who sometimes bites off more than she can chew.. usually at the expense of her own safety. I was so mad about Adam in this book, I can only think of 4 letter words to describe how horrible he was in what he did. But as a make up for him, there was Colin. He was a sweetheart and I can't wait to see where that storyline goes.

One thing I really like about this series is that each book has such a unique...more

I missed a book or 2 in this series, so I was a little lost at first. The good thing is that in each book it's a new thing, not so much as a continuation. Yes the people do still move through thier lives, but you wouldn't stay lost for long. =D

I enjoy Cheyenne's writing a great deal. I didn't like this as much as the first three in the Night Tracker series but it still was a good read.

The plot was slightly more complicated to follow than previous night tracker books. I loved the introduction of some new characters that I hope will stick around!

Ling book but a page turner too, I enjoy every last second of this book.
♥ Ashleigh ♥ contrary to popular belief im not actually mad!
the next book looks like it going to be interesting. with Nyx's brother Tristan and Desmond becoming trackers and with Rodan and Colin both wanting Nyx.
hopefully Nyx wont be as annoying in the next book. i know the author doesnt mean for nyx to come across as annoying - she's meant to be selfless when helping others and committed 100% but it doesnt come across like that she just looks like an idiot most of the time.

As always, great writing and great story arch make her a real contender for my favorite Urban Fantasy authors.

A good addition to the series. Worth the read.

Nyx and her crew of trackers are going to need waders before they get themselves out of this mess. And Nyx will have to face the boogieman she has hidden in her past. The lost of her older brother when the Zombies invaded her world when she was only 5 years old.

This is Urban Fantasy on crack, deadly, dangerous and downright outrageous. Buy it, borrow it, or steal it. But no matter how you do it you have to read this book.
Michelle the Romance Witch
okay i have to say wow this was a crazy story with an interesting plot, even if the overall crazy-man-taking-over-the-world part was a little predictable. I will say this: this is the night tracker novel to move the farthest from romance; this book was all urban fantasy. There was one 1 very brief hot kiss... so in that regard i am left wanting. but i will definitely read the next book to see where that hot kiss leads.
