AMAZING book. I've been reading quite a few baby books lately, and this one is easily the most interesting, easiest to read, insightful, and practical. Much more useful to me to have actual scientific data than some other parents' quaint allegories.

Exactly what I was looking for in terms of a resource on how to assist in my baby's development. I liked the way you could read the science AND read more practical information. It was an OK read in terms of being able to take up/put down because of the short sections, but with a bit too much repetition at times.
Great resource!

Meh. This book is a practical but uninspiring tour of various child development issues. The author organized the book topic by topic. On each topic she presents an abstract of current research and then summarizes ways parent can apply the research to practice.

I'm most impressed by how this book relates the scientific studies to what parents already intuitively do when they interact with their infants. I found reading it a very grounding and de-stressing experience as an expectant first time parent.

Had a lot of great info and specific examples on how to use that info. By the end I was getting a little tired of reading about all the research studies, though.

Interesting book, lots of information on studies that they've done with very young children, and what they are aware of. By the end it started to drag on.
