ISBN 0440124344 - Oddly, I seem to be on a roll, reading books that begin during WWII and end in the next generation! Steel's done better, but it's a good story. The problems are more in the details than the storyline - Ward is an engaging, charming man one moment, and a petulant, spoiled child the next. Faye is a strong, capable woman, but it's hard to imagine that any strong, capable woman would put up with Ward's reactions to things not going his way. Most of the family falls in love with the...more

This is the first Danielle Steel novel i've ever read, and I really appreciate this author's books.
About "Family Album", I found it beetween my mother old books, and it was a surprise. I really liked the plot, the characters were well-developed and easy to understand, I was excited for all of their stories and I grew up with the characters.
The setting may don't seem the best and Faye Prince may seem a simple ambitious actress , but page by page you can discover that's not like this. All the memb...more

I went through a Danielle Steel phase in my prepubescent years. Lining multiple shelves on my mom's bookcase, they were readily available. This is the only one that sticks out in my memory, and that's because I think it actually had more to offer than the quickly-read-and-forget-so-that-you-won't-remember-that-in-the-three-months-time-it-takes-for-the-next-Danielle-Steel-novel-to-come-out-you-won't-recall-that-the-story-has-been-recycled.

In the past I've read several Danielle Steel books and have always enjoyed them, but it's been ages since I've read one. The story was the type I like to read - following a family over the years. In this case the time period was the 1940's - 80's starting with WWII and Hollywood glamour. This book was a little more controversal on the family subjects it touched: drugs, homosexuality, flower children in the Haight, May - December romance, teenage pregnancy. Also, it began on a sad note with a fun...more
The story was good for the drama, but I felt the characters were shallow, and I never really became interested or felt anything for them. Sometimes it seemed a little overdone and cheesy, but I then again it was written by a romance writer. This is the first Danielle Steele book I have ever read. This would make a good Lifetime Channel movie.
Over all the book was good. It has a great plot, and the way the family overcomes their struggle gives so much hope to everyone. There is so much detail that you can feel what each character is feeling, which can be a good thing, but for the many sex scenes in this book, I felt that it was a little too graphic.

This has to be one of my favorite Danielle Steel books. It was very interesting and talks about how much a single woman has gone through. The drama she encounters through life is incredible. She still manages to keep a positive attitude and that is what's great.
I didn't know what to expect from this book as it was the first from Danielle Steel... I thought it would be just a love story but there were some situations on the book that made me think if it happened to me how would I deal with it, what would I think, feel and do, specially regarding the kid, John.

I read a few books by Danielle Steel in the mid or early 90's and loved the few that I did read. This is one of those books.

Since 1981, Ms. Steel has been a permanent fixture on the New York Times hardcover and paperback bestseller lists. In 1989, she was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having at least one of her books on the Times bestseller list for 381 consecutive weeks. But Guinness was premature. The fact is that one or more of Ms. Steel's novels have been on the New York Times bestseller list for...more
