I didn't want to read this book. I had a pre-conceived notion that anyone who writes as many books as Ms. Steel must just grind them out in a formula -- or has a staff of 20 or so doing the writing in her name. In any case, I just wasn't interested. But this was our book club pick for this month, so I jumped in and started reading. And to my surprise, I couldn't put it down! I was hooked -- really, really hooked! There are real life issues in this story - real life sorrows and pain and drama. I ...more
Loved it when I read it....have grown over such books but the story is very heart breaking...i remember having tears in my eyes

OK so when I was in high school my girlfriend was very into Danielle Steel, to the same extent that I was into Stephen King. And my girlfriend also read a few Stephen King books, so somehow she convinced me that it was "only fair" that I read a Danielle Steel novel. She recommended "Daddy" because it had a male protagonist.
What I learned from this book was that one Danielle Steel novel is enough.

This book was good but very predictable. I didn't like how the mom Sarah was a major character in the beginning and the first few chapters were from her point of view and then when she leaves the family, her character is basically gone form the book. It then picks up and has to rebuld characters again with the other family members. It was good, a great pool read but too predictable.

I remember reading this when I was babysitting for people who didn't believe in books or something and I forgot to bring my own reading material. IT WAS EITHER THIS OR A SHAMPOO BOTTLE, so I read "Daddy" thinking at least the title was promising. Didn't deliver, but it kept me entertained for the night and informed me what Danielle Steel (and her fans) are all about.

A man completely changes when he realises how important his role as a Dad is...this is the story of one such man whose wife walks out on him and his 3 kids for pursuing her career...he has to take over the role of Mom in addition to his part of their Dad for the 3 kids and you have to see how tough it can become. Very touching story...
It's A Book About A Mom Who Leaves her Children with The Father. The Father, And The Rest Of His Family Struggle Through Life There's A LOT Of Making Out Scenes >.> And it Gives Details About Its >.> But Whatever xD I'd Say More But I'm To Tired ^-^'
It is so refreshing to have a story where the man isn't the bad guy. I loved reading about Oliver and his life after his wife goes off to school. This is a great story and I loved seeing Oliver's journey.
the first and last danielle steel book i will ever read. this was way too...predictable to be heartbreaking. i mean, come on, you could tell from the very beginning who 'daddy' was gonna end up with
I wish I wouldn't have wasted my money. Her books have really gone down hill. It's like someone else is writing for her or she's just gotten bored. Sick of all the name dropping, too.
I really liked this book. The story line was easy to follow, the characters were easy to understand and everything had a real feel to it.
This is the book that got me hooked on reading. I had never been a reader until a friend introduced me to this book. LOVED LOVED IT.
It was an enjoyable read. I found myself feeling sorry for Ollie - just when he thought he found the One, it was only on his end. But I was glad that the One finally found him!

TV move too. good book. Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman) and Patrick Duffy (Dallas) are in the TV movie
This was one of the first books I read by her. I thought it was really good. I could really feel Oliver's pain.
I went though a short period when I read romance novels. I think I read like five before I got bored with the plot.
read this in my late teens - can't remember too much about it but think I enjoyed it at the time
Loved this book! Loved that it was from a man's perspective for a change.

Since 1981, Ms. Steel has been a permanent fixture on the New York Times hardcover and paperback bestseller lists. In 1989, she was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for having at least one of her books on the Times bestseller list for 381 consecutive weeks. But Guinness was premature. The fact is that one or more of Ms. Steel's novels have been on the New York Times bestseller list for...more
