A quote to ponder: "Marketing is the application of the knowledge of human psychology to the task of persuasion. And what psychology has taught the marketing world is that the most powerful persuasion of all takes place not through above-the-board appeals to reason but by directly targeting the emotions."
Example: Created in 1955 for Philip Morris, the icon of the Marlboro Man (a rugged masculine trademark) helped make Marlboro the world's best selling cigarette.

This was a disturbing look at how our society has slowly been changing due to the marketing tactics of a few choice groups trying to implement their agenda on American culture. Some of the issues addressed were gay rights, change in education, a sex-crazed culture and abortion rights. The book was quite explicit in the strategies used. The chapter on abortion was very straight-forward on what exactly happens during an abortion. Made me want to immediately go out and do whatever I can to stop the More...

Well - This one is just making me mad. An exposé of how we are systematically and methodically fed the lie that good is bad and bad is good. This was a good one to read after the one mentioned above. In light of the fact that the Jesus Of Suburbia book encourages us to live a life that will be “read” by unbelievers, I can’t just get mad. I have to pray for (and be salt and light to) not only the ones who have been deceived but for the deceivers as well.

Five stars = "must-read."

It's impossible to wrap our minds around how far our culture has fallen from Christian values in just a few short decades. But Kupelian does a brilliant job uncovering the high-powered, mind-twisting marketing campaign unleashed in order to erode our common-sense morals. "Gay rights," abortion, "separation of Church and State," devastating no-fault divorce laws, sexual hedonism, diluted "once-saved-always-saved" Chri More...

This book helps us take a step back to think about how we view those things that are produced in all kinds of media. This book has some very disturbing information as well. It is not a good read for everyone. the author is very pro-home schooling and feels that children should not be very involved in society until older although he attended public school and became a good citizen. I feel that each parent needs to decide what is best for their family and how to address the problems with educa More...

I would have rated this book 5 stars if it weren't for the disturbing images included in the discussions about child abuse and abortion. This book is well written and informative. It blew away some of my naivete and made me realize that there are truly evil people in the world. Sometimes I tend to give bad people the benefit of the doubt in that they have been deceived by evil themselves, but this book exposes the truly evil lies people have put forward to change the public's mind into accept More...

An incredibly conservative perspective about how each generation has slowly fallen away from sound morals and values. I don't generally read political books by such extremely conservative individuals but I found a lot of his thoughts to be interesting. I particularly enjoyed the chapter on the separation of church vs state where Kupelian notes that we have bought into the idea that there is some neutral ground between good and evil and that this neutral ground is where the government should be. First off, I didn't agree with the viewpoints set by this book. I'm not a conservative, and I'm pro-abortion.

However, this was incredibly well-written, to the point where it really does make sense in my mind to argue the author's side.

Mainly the chapters on abortion. The description of inborn fetuses forced out through poison or knife are especially compelling, even though I don't believe that the methods described are the norm.

Even if you are a liberal, regardless More...

I was at a Deeper Still conference and one of the speakers, Kay Arthur, referenced this book in her speech. It is not an exciting read, it's a sobering one. Kupelian is very succinct in his explanantions of how Liberal Agendas are shoved down our throats and we swallow it politely in order to keep peace or to be politically correct, whatever that means these days. Every parent that cherishes traditional values should read this book.

This book was written by David Kupelian, who is the managing editor of WorldNetDaily.com. He does an incredible job of describing the toxicity of our current culture, the drift from virtue, the decline in unity and love of God, Family and Country, and the massive damage done by minority groups. Beyond thoroughly highlighting, demonstrating, and laying bare the problems manifest in America today, he goes further to bring hope for the future through practical things families, communities, and cit More...

My Sunday School read this together, eye opening, let me tell ya! It takes a hot topic in society and compares how far we've strayed from the Judeo-Christian belief we had concerning it at the birth of our country, or in some cases only decades ago. I especially liked the chapter on the "Separation of Church and State." I definitely recommend it.

A friend asked me to read the book, and that's the only reason I made it the whole way through. Awareness is good, but I went from this to Cal Thomas and Ed Dobson's Blinded by Might--such a needed switch! Although I'm sure Kupelian is right on some counts, and though the "marketers" have been proactive, I don't buy the idea that marketing is at the heart of change.

This is a good overview of how issues like gay rights, abortion rights, sexual freedom, etc. have been sold to our society. Not as in-depth as other sources, but I do appreciate the author's unapologetic Christian worldview. He does ramble a bit sometimes, but he has an interesting perspective and some enlightening points.

This is a very candid book on just how so much has been repackaged to the point that we as a nation will swallow it whole and smile despite the destruction it does to us internally. However, just as our physical bodies can build a tolerance, we also build up tolerances for things that last century would have been unspeakable (and most likely was). I HIGHLY recommend this book.

This is for those who want to understand how our culture is being altered in spite of our nation's Christian heritage and largely Christian population...check it out, it may be a real eye opener for you. Some you'll already know, others are quite shocking. And troubling. And sad. And necessary to recognize if we are to combat it.

There was lots of material worth thinking about in this book, and I even agree with a lot of it, but the author sensationalized his claims so much that it hurt his credibility. Also, from the title, I'd been hoping the book would be more about marketing per se, but only one chapter is.

This was one of the most difficult books I have ever read but not because of the density of language or poor writing. I tend to check out footnotes in non-fiction books and this author has his tight and right. The final chapter on the selling of abortion was chilling. I recommend this book only to people who like to fact-check and want to pull back the curtain on a great many lies.

Some good food for thought, esp. the chapters on the Second Amendment. Some chapters make a bit of a stretch. The author sheds light about how powerful the media is in shaping not only public opinion, but our values over time.

Great easy explanations for understanding subliminal and nonsubliminal messages in our noisy marketing/advertising culture. For the non-marketing & marketing professional alike. Hide your kids! ;)

A little too graphic for me. I really didn't need to know that many details about sin, but I do wish that anyone who considers themself "pro-choice" would read the chapter on abortion.

I can't believe I haven't yet written a review on this book. It is probably because I spent so much time telling people about this book for at least 2-3 months after I read it that I never took the time to sit down and write a review and now I'm all talked out on the subject. So in a nutshell I loved the book. It was life changing for me in the way I view the world and how important it is to rely on the arm of God not the arm of flesh. It also helped me learn the facts about some worldly attitud More...

This book opened my eyes to perhaps WHY my opinion of certain things may be what it is. Understanding how the world and nation have morphed from truth into what we have today is interesting. Understanding the background to the legalization of abortion and no-fault divorce and same sex marriage issues was very eye opening. This book made me rethink many things and focus once again on making my home a safe-haven for my family. I did not like some of the sensationalism in the book but did like h More...

This book is amazing. Kupelian, a former journalist and current managing editor of World Net Daily, is spot on with his research into the demise of Christian culture. From abortion, to punk, to homosexuality, we have been marketed evil through a very deliberate marketing scheme outlined by two Harvard graduates back in the 80's. The book they wrote, "After the Ball," talks all about their plan for achieving the mainstream acceptance and embracing of homosexuality in America. Unfort More...

For my money, this is THE definitive examination of our age. Deviance, immorality, violence, selfishness, and a host of other problems are the results of our not holding firm to the foundational and operational truths that allowed us to become the most benevolent, richest, most generous nation in the history of the world. Moreover, the notes of indivual accountability now fail to resolve among the chorus of "if it feels good to me then I'm going to to it." If you reap what yoou sow, More...
