Rancher Rylie Thorn loves everything about men, but she’s positively phobic about commitment. After growing up in a broken family and witnessing too many failed marriages, Rylie knows "forever" is just not in the cards for her. Sheriff Clay Wayland has been called in to investigate a rash of crimes in the southeastern corner of Cochise County. But one night when he goes in...more

Clay is one of the titles in McCray's Armed & Dangerous series. As always, I hate finding a great book that is in the middle (call me obsessive, I love to start at the beginning). But Clay is totally great as a stand-alone title with visits with prior titles' characters woven in beautifully. I like feisty, kick-ass (in this case, literally) heroines. I love tall, dark, handsome, macho heroes. So I loved Clay. (The book and the guy.). There was a nice element of surprise after some suspicious...more

Fairly average book. I didn't enjoy it as much as the last one in the series, but it didn't suck either.

Series Note:
Fourth book in the "Armed and Dangerous" series that takes place in Arizona and generally involves illegal immigration law enforcement.

Summary:
Rancher Rylie Thorn is sick of the vehicle thefts going on in the area. A bunch of her ranch trucks were just stolen and she's not about to take it lying down so she goes to confront local sheriff Clay Wayland to ask him what he plans to do...more

I love these book and I have to say I hope there will be a few more yet. These are hot to trot with a really good story to keep you interested. We also get to see a little more of some of the other characters we met in the books 1-2 The little town that these people live in has to be the centre of crime with all the cattle and truck rustling that been going on but I say keep it up bad guys if it means we can have more hot stories about the fantast...more

Although McCray mentions in an Author's Note that this is the most erotic of the Armed & Dangerous series, it wasn't too 'off the wall'. Both Clay and Rylie are boisterous , and handcuffs play a 'bit' part, but if you've read the previous Kade, Luke and Zack stories, then the love-making won't bother you (well, not much) :D

I've always enjoyed McCray's H/h couples and their developing relationships; so this is in fact a quite easy read. And it has possibilities for Levi (Rylie's brother) as b...more

This was an enjoyable story with well-written, frequent sex scenes and a great suspense plot that did not have much else going for it.

The hero and heroine seem to have fallen in love with each other based on great sex and little else. McCray does not give us much dialogue between them that is not of the "do me right now" variety. We are given a lot of physical description and little introspection. Too bad, in the hands of Lora Leigh or Sarah McCarty these characters' potential might have been b...more

Cute, quick read, featuring a feisty blonde rancher heroine (Rylie Thorn, 28) not afraid to speak her mind (or go without underwear!), who likes sex (but no commitments, please) and a hunky, mustachioed sheriff (Clay Wayland, 30-something) out to tame his little "wildcat" (the original name of this previously published book--Wildcat). There's a little mystery plot of who is stealing trucks from all the neighboring ranches in SE Cochise County, Arizona, that Clay is investigating, and that is how...more

This book was much better than the previous one (Kade). Clay was such a sexy hero: a tough, smart, loyal and fun-loving sheriff who knows what he wants and goes after it. What more could you want? Rylie was a little harder to like. Sometimes it's hard to buy into the spunky, spitfire, attitude the size of Texas heroines some authors write about. Rylie was an interesting mix of tough but vulnerable, but I didn't LOVE her as a match for Clay. The suspense was done well, and I like that Rylie didn'...more

I really enjoyed this book. It was a quick read, but well worth it. I can't wait to read about the rest of the guys. The scenes were HOT. Rylie was a real good character I just loved her spunk, and Clay, he was just a charmer. A littler rough around the edges, but not that bad.

awesome...awesome...awesome.
I can't say enough. very funny and very sensual. The couple was very well matched and the romance was ON FIRE. I enjoyed the humor that went along with the sensuality....perfect, easy read! highly recommend this series (this version of the series since I have not read the 'Wild" version....

A word of advise to anyone just starting this series, Clay, Zack and Luke's stories are connected by friends, but Kade's can be read on it's own...

I read this in one day. Couldn't put it down. Great storyline. Very sexy read. Looking forward to reading more.

Excellent addition to the series!

Another great read.....some very "intimate" scenes. I am sad that I have completed this series. I am going to miss these cowboys and "their woman".
Michelle
It was better than the first book about his brother kale.

I read this while I was at the beach last week and I agree with the author, it was the hottest of the series so far. My only complaint is the books are so short, but she always does a nice job of bringing the story together and I never know who "did it" until the end. There are enough characters, I hope she continues the series.
Season
Love this series. I still think Zach was the best in the series, but really liked where this one went. I actually wish there was more, because I so want more of this!!

I had to reread this one because I think I read it too fast the first time. Still loving this series, but not the best one in the series, at least to me.

Almost a novella rather than a full book, this story is much more around the sexual interactions of the hero and heroine than any real characterisation. Definitely not one for someone looking for a deep, meaningful read. But it's pretty hot.
Alison
This was a quick, fun, steamy read. I had fun reading it, but I liked the other books in this series better. I think the other books had better devleoped stories; there was more a build-up to the climax of the story in the earlier books.
Krystean
Maybe it's just the mood I was in but I didn't feel any emotional attachment between the hero and heroine. Disappointed.
Monica
Liked this one better than "Kade" but not as much as "Zack". I give it 3.5 stars.
Hbeebti
I enjoyed Clay's story more than I thought I would.
