Rate this book
"I started this journey in pursuit of knowledge of Anesthesiology and

discovered the magic of Epidurals!"

-Shreeniwas Jawalekar M.D.

Opinions of colleagues on Open Drops to Open Hearts!

"It might be difficult to understand how a physician can survive in this modern age without apparent regard for the trappings of his profession. Dr. Jawalekar has lived a life where the joy is in service, the reward is in a job well done and a happy mother and child, and he has been

cradled in the certain knowledge that God will provide."

-Gerard M. Bassell M.D.

Wichita, Kansas

"His journey from a small village in India to the present day has been a product of the many wonderful and talented people who taught and molded him into a citizen of the world. His story is remarkable, memorable,

and enjoyable."

-Robert T. Westmoreland M.D.

Charleston, West Virginia

The modern day anesthesia started with open drop Ether and today it is almost all through intravenous injection. The author has lived through this history of anesthesia and seen and participated in the process. He has beautifully described the technique of open drop ether with illustrations and his experiences during this journey from Wai, India to the city of Charleston, WV. The author's interest in labor and delivery anesthesia and care of mother and newborn is abundantly clear in these

pages. He has honored his teachers by practising their teachings and developing a teaching model for epidural anesthesia.

To err is human. He has described various complications he has seen, caused and participated in. His journey through the history and progress of Anesthesia will be interesting reading to nonmedical as well as medical readers.
