Not recommended for everyone.This novella,gave name to the fetish "masochism" (as in "Sacher-Masoch"). It's been referenced in songs by Velvet Underground, Marilyn Manson,cradle of filth etc.Written by Sacher-Masoch,by Sacher-Masoch, this novella was 1st published in 1870 Germany

Reading this helped to remove the stigma surrounding the book as an erotic source of S&M; for me, its more about control of your own behavior than of others'. Very interesting to see how the main character, Severin, begs to be a slave to Wanda and at the end does a complete reversal of behavior to beome slightly misogynistic while at the same time promoting women's equality. Venus in Furs is a classic book. I read it years and years ago. It gives us an honest and more nuanced understanding of masochism, the term spawned by this book.
Don't be a "sub".....
